Doing laundry here today too. I hope all of you are making better progress than I am though.

racetrack18kb, I think I would agree with everyone else that DD would be fine by herself. If you are worried about her being alone is there maybe one of her friends that you would trust to stay over with her? I also think it would be fine to leave DS with his mom since he's not that interested and would have been there anyway. I suppose when you have the custody issue it makes you have to stop and rethink everything you do. Have fun spending some time with your DH.
You have my total sympathy on the raging hormone syndrome. Haven't made it to that stage yet with my DD but I do remember what I was like as a teenager. :scared1:

Yes, Yes, Yes! My trip is beginning to feel real now that the tickets have arrived. Looks like I will be diving in even deeper with planning now, as if deeper is even possible. Can't wait for the 90 day mark to get here so I can make my ADRs. They announced most of the CP narrators yesterday but wouldn't you know it... the night I want to go is still TBA. If it's not somebody I like I may change to Steven Curtis Chapman night or just skip the whole thing. Anybody ever done CP? Seems like a good deal since it gets you good seats that don't end up costing much more than it would to eat a meal at a restaurant I was planning to go to anyway.
racetrack18kb, I actually ended up getting my WDW tickets through Ticketmania.com. They were actually a few dollars cheaper for me because UT did not sell the 2 day passes I needed to bump up from the 10 day passes to 12 days. They shipped really fast and everything looks to be in order. Scared the dilly-waddin out of me when the total cost really registered but I really cannot think of anything I would rather spend it on... at least not vacation wise.

LivinInTheCastle, while our DH's may share some of the same traits I am pretty sure he's not the same guy. Nobody else would put up with him but me. And, M&N you got it right. Not a sympathetic bone in his body.

Kitty, probably a stupid question but will the show air the same night it is taped? Will somebody please tape it just in case I miss it? I don't watch enough tv on a regular basis so when there is something that comes along I would really like to watch I have to tell you that most of the time I flat out forget. Also, since the digital switch over I am just not really sure what channels we even get.

D&DDisney, moving is VERY hard work even without the heat. You better slow down and get some rest in there somewhere. I really liked your mini trip report. Hope Ds's boo-boo is all better now. The cabins look really cute. I might could do that but that is about as much roughing it as I would want to do. What a great Liberty Bell picture and what a wonderful historical tour. Neat, neat, neat! Your states are filling in quite nicely.
My DD might give your future Presidential candidate a run for his money. She tries to be quite the little dictator and would be quite comfortable telling people how things need to be done.

Hi BKMETV and Pikester!

Afternoon Ladies! Seems I finally shook it off and may be awake now. It may actually just be full panic mode. Lime green dress came today and it doesn't look very nice. I am still going to wear some on the show though! I'm wearing a "happy birthday" button I made for my Dad and the background is our color!

Marie, although I tape this week, the shows won't be on until mid-August. Hopefully you'll see me on there! I had my nails done so I can beat the booty out of everyone else during the Fastest Finger round. I've been watching a lot of game show network, and if I do say so, I may be the cutest contestant on Millionaire ever!

I attended the Candlelight Processional a few years ago, but we didn't do the dining package. It was really beautiful, something I hope to do again. Brian Dennehy was my narrator and he did a fantastic job. I'll fully admit to tearing up during the show! It didn't do very much for BF, but he's not much into the religious aspect of anything. I thought it was gorgeous.

M&N...that's not me in D&D's siggy! He's much cuter!

D&D....the pictures are great! I really fell in love with your sons. I have no doubt that DS will become the next president! I think its wonderful that he's so into history. You must be so proud. Your vacation really turned out extra special--and congrats on getting free parking in DC! How was the other campground?

I'm getting burned out. Trying to read the Guinness Book of world records. I have some other books I'm going to review quickly on the road tomorrow. Otherwise, there's not much more I can do except enjoy the ride.

D&D--Such good pics...the one of the VN Memorial was beautiful. I have not seen it up close---did a drive by! Poor ds---way too tired but then he never slows down as long as he can go does he? It sounds like you sure got a lot in your trip. Glad the Liberty Bell turned out ok. Glad you were able to get through my favorite part of Lancaster Co. Which magnet did you get? Did you get to Kitchen Kettle Village? I cannot picture where the town park is!.

We did stop at Kitchen Kettle Village. Very cute place. Stopped to listen to the muscians play. Kids liked that.
We got the I heart Intercourse (PA) sticker for our camping box and the same for a magnet. DH got a pen for work. Didn't want to offend anyone with a magnet or sticker.:laughing:
The town park is about a mile or so down the road from KK Village. Can't remember exact hwy. DH kinda missed our turn off and we ended up at the park to turn around. Thought that would be a great place for a picnic.

The memorials in DC were so moving. The Liberty Bell
18.gif
and Indep. Hall were also very moving. So cool to think what was going on there over 200 years ago.

2 Days until Kitty is a Millionaire!!!!!!
So excite for you!!!!!! You will do fine I am sure of it!!!! You have that great personality for TV that will surely get you on. :thumbsup2

I am proud of the boys. Thanks!
The free parking we got was near the Jefferson Memorial. A little walking from there but not that bad.

Another trip highlight.....
The other campground was very nice. It was a KOA again and they were very clean and organized there. Bathrooms, Laudry, Pool, etc. were spotless.
DS was so excited because we were playing the license plate game on this trip and thougth for sure we'd NEVER see Hawaii. Then, low and behold, right there at the campground was car w/ Hawaii plates.:yay::cool1: He almost peed his pants as he yelled out "Mom, look. HAWAII!!!!!!!" That was way cool. We ended up finding every plate except Wyoming. :headache:

Kitty, I hope your fingers appreciate the extra effort and do their part to get you in on the fastest fingers round. I am pretty sure that your TK buddies will agree that you will light up the Millionaire stage. Don't think I ever mentioned it but I love your Facebook picture. You look beautiful. Just a few more days of cramming and you will be able to give your brain a rest.
My DS made me play chess with him today and I am wiped out from all that thinking! Afterwards, DD, DS and I ended up in a wrestlefest on the couch. The dog did not know what to think about that. I think she was trying to protect me because she started chewing on DS. Pretty funny.

I wouldn't mind hearing Brian Dennehy at CP. I bet he was good. I would love to see somebody like Dick Van ****, (you know who...he got bleeped out!) maybe Patrick Stewart, or just some OLD guy. I don't know who most of the ones are that they have listed! Looked up Abigail Breslin and she is just a kid. We saw Andy Garcia at DL. He was okay but didn't really get me too excited. I was hoping for someone we really liked that would knock our socks off. DH would like to hear Steven Curtis Chapman and I am really sure since he is a Christian guy he puts a lot more feeling into his reading than some would. Whoopi might be good but she's a few days too late.

I hope ya'll don't mind if I pick your brains for WDW info for the next 4 months. I posted a question around but just in case no one read it and has some insight I'm gonna ask you guys...
I would really love to eat at San Angel Inn for the atmosphere. However, I am having a hard time trying to find something on their menu that I think my picky kids would like. Do they happen to have any plain old Mexican fare such as nachos or tacos? Anybody ate there? Opinions?
Anyone done Garden Grill? Opinions? I am wondering if they still do catfish and if it is good?
And last, I would like to make it to Whispering Canyon Cafe but am having a hard time working it into my plans since we usually do not eat in the park for dinner. I have read that the place is not quite as much fun at lunch. Anyone know if they do any of the stick horse races or anything else at all for lunch? If we were to begin our day at MK what would be the best way to get to WCC and how much time would we need to allow before our reservation time for travel? Also, what time would lunch end and dinner begin?

D&D, I thought that looked like a KOA cabin. Ya'll were in the heart of where all the history is. It is a long way from me! Heck, it takes forever just to get out of Texas! We do have the Alamo and it is pretty cool but not quite like some of the historical things from the beginning of our entire nation. (I could get lynched if some of my Texas counterparts heard me say that!) Good job spotting all those license plates!

Gotta run... the laundry is STILL calling!

Ok, so I got my final travel itinerary via email. It says that gratuity is included! :cool1: I also asked to driven back Friday morning, instead of right after the show. They're picking me up at 11am! Perfect!

Marie, after reading everything I could get my hands on about the US, I totally want to do a Southwest trip! I think BF and I decided we could probably get a cheap flight to Vegas, stay there with family for a few days, then drive around. There is so much cool stuff out there, but of course, we'd love to see the Alamo and Grand Canyon. It may be our next trip....

Thank you so much for the comment on my Facebook picture. It is one of my favorite pics---I don't normally look like that! It was taken right after I donated to Locks of Love. I was really happy to have done it and it shows! I'm hoping to do it again by fall--that's the reason why I have so much hair in the TKer pictures!

We've never eaten at any of the places you've mentioned, but we've always wanted to eat at San Angel Inn, it just looks so cool! Honestly, we're perfectly happy eating Mexican CS by the lagoon. Make sure to ask your questions again after Free Dining is over, I'm sure plenty of people would have eaten at those places.

D&D....the Hawaii license plate is so cool to see! I have a bit of trivia, but I'm sure DS already knows it, but New Mexico is the only license plate to put USA on it....its because so many people think its part of Mexico and not US!

Here's another personal tidbit....my first license plate was S8N-667. Read it....my friends always joked that I was THIS CLOSE to being the devil!

Good evening ladies!

I see that we have had a busy day posting.

D&D: Sounds like you all had a great time (well, except for DS11;)). I see that you've been posting over at the December code thread. I was so jealous when I read that you got a pin. Now, not so much since I got the FD through my Disney Visa. Then, it didn't really matter since the code went public.

marie: I wish I could help you with all of your questions but I might be able to help with one. We ate at the Garden Grill back in 2006. The better tables are the ones closest to the outside of the restaurant. When the restaurant is turning you'll be able to see the scenery better (the scenery being the same in the Living with the Land ride). The food was served Family Style and there was catfish. DS11 (who was 9) loved it and we(me,DH,DS11,DS8,My Mom, D-Nephew13) all liked the characters. DH wasn't impressed with the food but I thought it was good.

Whispering Canyon-Food was good but ate there for dinner so I can't answer your activities at lunch time question. I think that best way to get to WC is to take the boat from MK to WL. I would leave atleast an hour to get there. I believe that lunch is from noon to 3:00p and dinner is from 5:00p to 10:00p.

It's time for Hell's Kitchen. So far this is an interesting season.

Marie, I haven't eaten in any of those restaurants but my BIL & SIL love San Angel Inn. I'm not going to be much help but I think if you really want to eat there, call the restaurant and speak with the chef. Explain your situation and see if something could be prepared for your children while you are there if there is nothing that looks good to them. I've heard tons of stories about them being very accommodating with requests.

I agree with Pikester about taking the ferry to get to WL. I would give it an hour too and if you are early, you can always stroll around the resort.

Where are the HK watchers? I really thought Lovely should have gone. She just doesn't seem to do anything much! Can you believe 2 of the guys getting hurt? Who would think being a chef was so dangerous? :confused3 Looks like the guy from last year walks off next week.

I refuse to watch the 'fat' version of the Bachelor...why should weight be a factor at all? You love someone for who they are inside not outside!

I'm here just hiding. It's easier to post and run that way. :rolleyes1

I really think Lovely should have gone too. She just seems so out there....like she doesn't know what is going on.

At least after a little bit of being witched at, Tenille kicked it into gear and pulled her weight in the kitchen.

I am so not impressed with Robert (the guy from last year). He made it to semi's before he had to leave and he is almost as bad as the others. And he left last season because of a heart problem brought on by his weight. He has not lost anything and actually looks bigger than the last time he was on.

Someone get me out of here!!! OMG, DD13 has totally raging hormones lately. I hope this is only because she "made the step into womanhood" 2 months ago and eventually she'll calm down. Or else this is going to be a long 5 years until she would go to college.

Marie, :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Your tickets came. Did you get them from Undercover Tourist? That's where I got mine last year and they were so quick to send everything.

Pikester, I saw a while back that you are stopping for a little in Daytona on your way to WDW. What are you planning to do there? And I'm so sorry about DH's grandmother.

MK, how are you doing? Tell Edward I'm sorry about the job situation. That really bites. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that he finds something else quickly.

DL55, you are much braver than me with this camping bit. I'll stick with the cabins you can rent. Way more my comfort level. :rotfl:

HI LITC!!! How's that wrist of your's feeling? Have you made a decision on your course of treatment?

M&N, looks like both our drivers did bad this week. I think I'm done picking Kyle in the racing picks. Everytime I do, he does horrible.

D&D, are you done with that laundry yet? Sorry about the jobs falling through. But I know there is something better out there just waiting for you.

Hey, I got a quick opinion question for all of you. OK, maybe 2 questions. Too bad my explanation of everything isn't quick. :lmao:

Curt, DH, is going to be home this weekend. Big surprise for us  since they originally told him that he couldn't come home with the other guys since he just took the weekend off for the tker meet.

Anyways, the NASCAR race is at Pocono this weekend. Only 45 minutes from here or so. I can still get tickets at a reasonable price. Not in the budget but we haven't been to a race in so long and we are dieing to go again. Buying tickets wouldn't hurt us all but just take some re-arranging of things.

DS would be at his mom's this weekend. As much as his mom annoys me, she has been reasonable about the weekends we want him with us for various outings. But this happens to one of the weekends that she requested to have him because it's her daughters birthday. And he's not really into NASCAR like we are.

My first question is....should we just not go because it's not our weekend to have DS? It's such a fine line to walk with this custody bit.

Second question....DD13 will not want to go if we do. She likes NASCAR and knows a lot about it but going to a race just would not interest her right now. We would leave about 6am to get there when the gates open and not get home until about 6pm if everything goes well with the race. Do you think she is too young to spend the day by herself at home? My dad lives up the street from us and of course we all have cell phones.

Help!!!!!

Hey Race-- in reference to my wrist, after speaking with boht my primary care dr and my ob, I have decided to wait on treatment until after the baby is born. Hopefully that is the right choice. I have the new brace from the dr to wear and hopefully that will manage the pain enough for me to get through the next few months.

I also agree with letting your daughter stay home, I was staying home alone by that age, and I'm sure she will do fine. As for DS, He should be able to realize that he has spent some awesome times with you guys lately and once in a while he is going to have to miss stuff, but if he is not into racing too much then he should be good.

Good Morning!
Was busy moving my Mom from her house of 25+ years to a condo yesterday. So exhausted now.
faintthud.gif
DH took off Mon. too so he could help. What a sweetie. :lovestruc Spent the entire day off with my crazy family trying to move Mom in 90 degree heat. (If anyone knows about my family, they are not a pleasant bunch to spend the day with. :scared:) Anyway, Mom is moved and now I can finish cleaning up, doing laudry, putting things away, cleaning the pool, refereeing the kids, sending out resumes...etc.

I'll be the first to say YES ::yes::go to the race. DD will be fine. She seems very responsible and w/ family near, she will be fine for the day.
Doing something w/o DS will be hard, but its not like you are leaving him out intentionally. There will be other races and family outings to take part in. Don't feel bad. You do so many wonderful things with him and the family.

DL55 - Welcome back from camping. I know what you mean about appreciating electricity and running water.

Ev - Welcome back!

Kitty - :yay::yay:Only a few more days until you are a millionaire!!!! I also don't think you have to tip the driver, but then again, I am not one who tips - except wait staff and hairdressers. Hate the entire practice of tipping!
So sorry to hear about Edward. He is such a nice guy. Will pray that things work out for him soon!

Marie - :cool1: Yay on the tickets coming in the mail! That is so exciting.

Hi Pikester, LITC, M&N, and everyone else out there! :wave2:

Hey D&D !!!!!!!!!

Day 6: Visit Jefferson Memorial, Arlington and parts of VA. We found FREE parking close to all these places so it made for a much more enjoyable visit.
DSC02459.jpg

Then, having run out of money, :laughing:it was back on the road. DS was exhausted.
DSC02237.jpg

All in all it was a WONDERFUL vacation. Saw many cool things and met many GREAT people. ;) Too bad it had to end. :sad1:

Awesome pic! So much fun ya pass out in any position!

I don't watch Hell's Kitchen...I sacrificed some precious brain cells to Big Brother tonight.

I don't know how I feel about that "big girl" dating show. I think I may check it out at least. I have to support the girls. At least we're getting some exposure! I hope that its not terriby done and big girls come out looking like caricatures. I hope that its sensitive and demonstrates that we can be sexy and desirable, while still maintaining some dignity. Again, I hope, I hope. But its Fox television, and we'll just have to see.

HI LITC!! I'm glad both your doctors are working together to help you with your wrist. How bad is your pain? I think I would rather proceed on the side of caution and do the brace myself at this point.

We may have taken the race off of our weekend plans. Buying the tickets would be no problem but I know once we get there, we'll want to spend, spend, spend. We may just take the little ones to Knoebels, an old fashioned amusement park. Lots of kiddie rides, free admission, buy tickets for what you want to ride. DD will still stay home as there is not much there that interests her.

At 13, I was staying home myself too. Even babysitting my brother at night while my parents went out. I know I should feel that she is safer with all the technology available....cell phones, etc. But it has made me much more aware of how many crazies are out there.

I'm probably the only one impressed--you all have probably eaten some but...I saw the 'walking nacho' thread. You put the beef, salsa, etc in the little nacho or Frito bag and eat it that way. YUM!

She just doesn't want to spend all that money to see Kyle loose in person!
Actually, the weather might not be too great anyway. I want to go to Hershey but not sure. Calling for scattered thunderstorms.

Umm, excuse me? If I decided, and you all know it is my decision and Curt has nothing to do with it, to go to the race, not only would Kyle win but he would bump every other car out of the way on his way. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Do you know how much money I would have to spend if DD6 has access to his merchandise trailer? She would want on of everything even the adult shirts because she can wear them as nightshirts.

Just who is the adult here Racer? :rotfl: You would just love her weatring all that M&M stuff! She sure did look cute in it too!

Don't you know by now that she is the boss of all things? And add to the fact that she can cry at the drop of a hat, I wouldn't stand a chance up there. Big puppy dog eyes filled with tears...."but mommy, he's my favorite" Make sure you picture her little pixie self just looking up into your eyes. And the little quivering lip. See how long you would last. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Wow---I replied to your post but it's not here? Oh well. Your dd is sure a cutie and does know how to use that little finger to twist you around it. I could not hold out!

I don't know it you all get AllEars newsletter. There's an article by Mike Scopa that I wanted to share a part of:
"The WDW Olympics".
This is a concept I've been tossing around in my head for the last two years and it involves some fun you and a number of friends can have in the park beyond visiting the attractions, watching the parades, enjoying the fireworks, and eating in the restaurants.
Now the concept here is really two-fold. First and foremost the idea was to come up with something different to do in the parks. At the same time the goal is to make it a little competitive and fun as well.
Anyone can design their own WDW Olympics, but if you do, you must be ready to list some specific rules. Here are some suggestions:
-- Come up with a list of at least six and no more than 10 "feats" to complete in the Magic Kingdom. They should not be overwhelmingly challenging but should require some creativity.
-- Each feat, when completed, must be proven in some manner or form with such physical evidences -- perhaps a digital photo or piece of paper.
-- Determine whether you want a time limit by which you must complete the feats or that the goal is to accomplish them in the fastest time possible.
-- Determine a prize -- it could be a snack, a meal, a souvenir, anything that all the participants agree upon.
-- Finally, decide on a place for all participants to meet to discuss the outcome.

Let me start you off with my own specific plan for such an event in The Magic Kingdom. My event will be composed of just eight feats that must be completed as soon as possible. If at the end of six hours no one or no team has completed the feats then the team with the most completed feats wins. My feats must be proven by physical proof -- something I can hold or look at to prove the feat was completed. Four of my feats must have physical evidence other than a photo; the other four can be proven by a photo. For this particular Olympics the prize that goes to the winning team will be a Magic Kingdom treat -- either a Dole Whip or a Mickey Bar. The meeting place at the end of the game will be Adventureland's Aloha Isle.

Now that we have the rules let's come up with some feats. Feel free to use any of these tidbits I've come up with.

1. Each participant must either have his/her hair colored or cut at the Magic Kingdom barbershop. A photo would serve as proof -- as would of course green hair with sparkles in it.
2. Each participant must present a photo of him/herself with a princess.
3. Each participant must present a FastPass from each of the four lands -- Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, and Adventureland.
4. Each participant must present a photo of him/herself with a villain.
5. Each participant must present a receipt from a counter service location proving they have eaten something there.
6. Each participant must provide an autograph by someone other than Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, or Pluto.
7. Each participant must provide a photo of him/herself with a cast member who is NOT a character.
8. Each participant must present a special button/pin from the park, but it cannot be purchased.

So let's think about strategy here. You need to obviously plan how you are going to get your FastPasses and in what order.

Also, you need to figure out where you can best get the required photos and autographs.

Finally determine when and where to eat.

All these tasks are doable but the question is how fast they can be done.

The first person or team having completed all tasks and returning to the designated meeting spot, in this case Aloha Isle, will be the winners.
