Evening!!! I guess you could say the weather was nice here. In the 70's, sunny with a nice breeze. But I want in hotter. Sheesh, it's July, shouldn't it be in the 90's by now?

Pikester, I honestly am not surprised by that news report you posted. Racism is very much alive in some parts of this state. Hell, I think it was earlier this year that some family made the news because Wal-mart would not write Happy Birthday Adolph Hitler on a birthday cake for them. Adolph Hitler being the name they gave their child. :sad2:

But the story you posted makes me sick. Ironic how this past week, everyone's been talking about how MJ crossed so many racial barriers and here are some people (and I use that term loosely) pulling their kids out of pool because of someone's skin color.

Sukie, you'll have to fill me on your cruise when you get back. We, ok me, are in the process of trying to decide what to do for vacation in 2011. A cruise is at the top of the list right now. We've never been on one and they look like so much fun.

Magikitty, you get the award for greatest Aunt in the world. And that one kids sounds like a flake. What if they all move in together and the flake decides to take off again for a week, month or even longer? Who's going to pay his part of the bills?

Wendy, yes, do fill us in on your netbook? I need to get more computers into this house to stop all the arguing about who's turn it is to use the computer.

marie, those moments when they get it are great. It's almost like a little switch turns on the their heads. And the mouthiness does get worse. And if they aren't running their mouths, it's that silent attitude that you just want to slap out of them.

D&D, I can't believe how soon the meet is. I never thought the time would get here and we go next week already.

DL55, I'm coming out to visit you and that wonderful 100* weather.

I was reading through the various threads on here tonight and came across this one

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2224813

I found it interesting in light of what just happened here.

Do you think racism is predominantly perceived in this country to be a crime that white people perpetrate against other ethnic groups?

If the same thing that happened in that link had been a group of white kids attacking a black family, would they have classified it as a hate crime right away?

I had obviously seen Pikester link around here but she saw that in NH. I didn't hear a thing about this other news story even though it is all not that far from here. What's the difference?

I hope everyone is out having fun. :upsidedow

Those articles are terrible. Unfortunately, racism is still around and practiced by some members of all races. Really sad.

I'd like you to meet the newest members of the Flat TKers.

That weather had better shape up before we all get there. Otherwise I'll have to bring the sun and dry weather with me. (It is raining today, but very light) Someone else will have to bring the warm temps. DL55 are you sure you can't come camping with us???

DL55 - As far as the cruises go - you will definitely have to share the details. I'd love to do a cruise some day, but would like to go with a group of people. Anyone else on this thread up for a TKer Cruise????:yay::boat:

I was looking over the route I got mapped out and I have to say What's will all the tolls??? Good gravy...it might be close to $30 in just tolls to get to PA. Might have to look for an alternate route back. Yikes! :scared1:

Speaking of laptops...I finally got a notebook card for my old (ancient) laptop. The campgrounds we are staying at have free Wi-Fi so I am hoping to use the computer while we're there. Maybe send an update to the rest of the gang??? Hope it works.

Don't even get me started on racism or sexism. :sad2:
Just can't understand why people think they are better than others - whatever their race or sex might be. Some of the best groups of friends I have had were a group with a mix of many races, backgrounds, beliefs, etc. Just adds so much more to life. I hate when everything is the same.

Sukie will have to tell us about her cruise..only a couple of weeks away.
A TK cruise sounds fun too, but we can't even all get together for a trip to Hersey or Disney. :lmao:

Howdy all:

Been away "babysitting" my sister at her cottage...she still isn't 100% after her fall. Luckily there's no TV so I missed all the MJ drama...what happened to passing away with grace and dignity??

Anyways there too much to comment on but I definitely have to take a guess at the hair colours:

Racer: lizard/red highlights

DH: electric Banana

DS16: vampire red

DD13: midnight blue

DD8: hot pink

DD6: purple

...oh and I want LOTS of pictures!!

Marie - D&D suggested you as a friend on facebook so you'll be getting a request from me.

We are enjoying our second day of summer here...sunny and warm...hard to believe. DH made a bonehead move last night and forgot to turn off the pool heater so it's now 88*F...just like a hot tub. I'm off for a swim and soak.

TTYL

Good evening friends! It finally felt like summer today--bright and muggy. Ah, I was waiting for this.

Spent the afternoon with Mom, she had to get something for a wedding shower she's invited to. Mall was pretty empty, which was nice. Victoria's Secret has marked down all their sale panties to $3--which is awesome! I picked up a few which has totally made my evening.

Marie and I are friends on Facebook now!

I also went to Sam's Club tonight and picked up a huge package of water for the trip next weekend! Its slowly coming together. I also realized I probably want to find my swimsuit. Goodness only knows where that is...

I just found out that they're doing calls for Who Wants to be a Millionaire tryouts. I tried last night and again tonight. There are five questions, each progressing in difficulty and you have to answer in 10 seconds. I keep getting killed by the fifth question! I'm so mad...I've tried out for Jeopardy three times. I've gotten pretty far in the trials, but never get through the final round. I'm so frustrated!

D&D....love the new Flat TKers!

BF sprung it on me last night that maybe we shouldn't go to Disney next year...I didn't take it well. I asked where he thought we should go, and he suggested the Grand Canyon. Now, while I have entertained the thought of visiting, neither one of us are very hiking-oriented, outdoorsy, or good in the heat. What is he thinking? He did mention the idea of a cruise....hmmm....TKer meet did I hear?

Oh, and no news about the Korean. I feel like I should notify the embassy or something.

OOOOh my gosh! Can I please come and hang out with you guys for awhile. I just finished playing a round of Disney Golf on the Playstation with the family. I have had just about all of the burp & fart fest that I can handle! Sad thing is that even my DD thinks it is fun to be just as gross and obnoxious as the guys. How many 9 year old girls do you know that can burp on command? How did I get stuck with this bunch of uncouth weirdos? :confused3

I don't know what DH must have brought me home this time.... some sort of stomach bug I guess. Last night I thought it might have been my own cooking :scared1: but it has lingered on all day so I guess I can't blame myself. I can't remember ever having a bug quite like this one. My stomach is all bloated and feels like it has a rock in it, all cramped and knotted. Oh well, could be much worse. It did give me a good excuse for playing around online longer than usual today. I want to thank everybody for sending me a Facebook invite. I doubled my friends list today! That's all I really need is another good place to waste even more time online! Fun stuff though.

D&DDisney, you did a good job making us flat! My head is the size of Donald's. I look forward to traveling around with everybody. Curious to see where we all pop up next. I guess it will be the Hershey meet, right? At least I will get to be there as a flatsie. Somebody eat some chocolate for me! It's gonna be pretty quiet around here.

MagiKitty, good luck getting in on Millionaire. GASP! What in the world is your DBF thinking? No Disney? How could he? I suppose some people do like going other places but for the life of me I can't understand why. No, seriously, I used to like seeing different things but my wanderlust has sorta subsided. DH would like to go back to Colorado but I really don't care if we ever go there again. I see the day coming though when I will probably have to make a compromise but I am stalling as long as I can!

Just checking in while I have the chance!
Miss you guys terribly!

But, did I hear a few people say "facebook?" I've recently become involved in that time killer... Although, I still don't have much online time period. Maybe I'll "see" you there.

Still trying to work out if I can drive up to visit you all at the TKer meet. Racetrack is keeping me informed. Thanks Racetrack!
But, I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to work it out or not. It would be so cool to "meet" you all in person!

OK - News Flash!!!

BL took his first tiny little steps last night!!! He was so proud of himself. He let go of the couch and took 2 tiny wobbly steps towards his big brother who was sitting in a chair at the kitchen table waiting for a cookie. (Not sure if he wanted DS or the cookie! :rotfl:) DS and I clapped and laughed and BL just grinned ear to ear. Unfortunately, DH had gotten stuck late at work and missed it, but BL was kind enough to do an encore when he got home and did 2 more tiny steps right to Daddy.

Gotta run, but I hope you all are well!

LITC - Caught something about you being tired. I'm not sure how far along you are, but hang in there. A lot of women have a trimester where they feel particularly tired, but then they get their energy back. Try to get as much sleep as you can. If there's any possible way to store it up like a sleep camel before the baby arrives, I'd highly recommend it. :lmao:

BL is walking!!!!:cool1:

Marie, I hope you feel better soon. Nothing worse than a stomach bug! Oh, and a 9 years old, my sister's best friend could burp her ABCs AND the National Anthem!!! (see, it could be SO much worse...)

Lighttech, we would all happily friend you on Facebook. But I don't know your real name! You could PM us with that bit of info...

Today is the kids' last day home, and they will be with their father all day. Having fun? Doing cool father-kid stuff? Nope. Going with him to his Drum Corps show. I honestly dont know why he bothers taking them at all. They would much prefer to just hang out at home. Now they will get home late (10-11 pm) and be all grumpy. I really wonder about this guy...:confused3

DH does that too. (I work Saturdays, and he's home w/ the boys by himself that day.) And, they almost never stay home. I don't know what that is w/ men. The one guy I work w/ is home w/ his son 1 day per week too, and he told me his wife is always asking him why they constantly go out. I swear the kids would much rather get a chance to play w/ their toys, etc. sometimes. And, would I ever love it if I came home to a clean house! (Ahhh. A girl can dream, can't she?) In all fairness, DH does try to help out. I've realized over the years that he just doesn't see the dirt. Our house looks like a tornado hit it and he told me the other night to relax. "The house is like 3 hours away from being able to have people over." :scared1: More like 3 weeks! I'm tempted to invite people over for tomorrow, take the kids out (I'll even give him the advantage of an empty house) and ask him to get it guest worthy in 3 hours. I'd be interested to see what he does consider "clean enough."

:lmao: lighttech! That is SO true of most men. My ex, OTOH, was the complete opposite. Talk about OCD!! Everything had to be perfect. Nothing was ever good enough. I am no slob, but my house looks lived in. I have 2 kids, for pete's sake! Hmmm, maybe thats why he's my ex...

Got your PM--look for a friend request on FB.

I talked to my kids before the ex arrived, and asked if they really wanted to go to the Drum Corps show. The answer was an emphatic NO! So I told them to tell their father that. Well, so much for my plans for the day. They will be back about noon, and they are all mine! I am actually glad, since they are leaving tomorrow and I wont see them for so long. So now they get to hang out at home, play on their computers, love the dog, etc, and get to bed at a reasonable hour. The ex wasnt thrilled, but tough tootles--if he wants to spend time with them, he should at least plan something that they actually enjoy.

Guess that means I'm making BLT paninis for dinner!

Good late morning!

DS8 and I are home alone today because DH and DS11 are off on a 50 mile bike ride to help raise money for Cancer Research. Can't wait to hear how it went!

I'm getting so excited for everyone's trip to Hershey! I still wish that I was going but when it comes to driving I am what they call a HUGE WIMP! I hate driving! No, really. I HATE DRIVING!!!! Put me on an Interstate and once I get where I am going you have to pry my hands off the steering wheel with a crowbar. I looked into taking a train. There is a stop in the next town over that would get me to Philly and then from there I could get a train to Harrisburg. I wouldn't have gotten in until about midnight. Then I would have had to found a way to get from the station to a hotel. Meeting you ladies would have been AWESOME but I just didn't have the energy to put into getting there. Besides that, I didn't really have the cash either.

lighttech:

Husbands be it ex or otherwise just don't get it sometimes! My DH pulled a DUH last night. This will probably sound strange but he stole my toothbrush. Let me clarify that.....he stole the toothbrush that I use to scrub in the stain remover on the dirty laundry. I went downstairs into the dugeon that is knownas my basement (Nasty, long legged spiders!) where my laundry room is located to get some clothes out of the dryer and noticed that the toothbrush was missing. Now, I do happen to have two but of course it would be the one that is my favorite that would be missing. Knowing that my DH had done this to me before (he uses them to brush the greasy nasty gunk off of his bicycle parts), I hunted him day and asked "Did you take my toothbrush?". His answer was "Yes. Did I mess up?" DUH!! Maybe if he would have asked I would have said "Go ahead and take the green one as I don't really use that one." But NO! He couldn't ask! I got a little huffy even though it was stupid and walked off. DH left, not telling me why, and bought me two new toothbrushes and left them down where I treat the laundry. What a goober!

What a beautiful day it is out there today! My thermometer is showing a temp of 79 and I see blue, sunny skies! :woohoo:

Ugh. Boss just showed up at work. ON A SATURDAY!! So much for my quiet lunchbreak... and my productive day.

Afternoon! Looks like rain here today. The temps better warm up for next weekend or my kids are gonna be mad. They all want to spend a lot of time at the waterpark section of Hershey.

lighttech, He's walking?! :woohoo::woohoo: Oooo. but now the trouble is going to start. :lmao:

My DH is the same way about being home. Even if he is not out of town for work, he's usually gone 14-15 hours a day. He complains how he is never home but then on his day off, all he wants to do is go somewhere. It's almost like he thinks the kids are missing out because he can't take them anywhere during the week. But they are just happy that he's home and just playing in the backyard with him is great.

Pikester, you're going to have practice driving on the highway so you and Sukie can make it to the next tker meet (whenever that may be).

whgrn, are the kids excited for camp? They go for the rest of the summer, right? As much as the kids annoy me, I don't know what I would do if they would be gone for most of the summer. Wait, I know, I'd have a clean house. :rotfl:

Magikitty, sorry about BF's idea about vacation next year. But, if you are going to go clear across the country to the Grand Canyon, should a trip to Disneyland be included? It's not WDW but it could help you get your disney fix. And good luck with getting on Millionaire.

D&D, ONE MORE WEEK!!!!!

lighttech - Yay on BL walking!! And now all the fun begins. Really hope you can make it for dinner for the meet. Would love to see you!

Kitty - I'm with Racetrack. You'll be sooo close to DL that you'll have to stop there too. I say go for it. It is beautiful country out west. Haven't been to the Grand Canyon yet, but would someday like to take 2 long weeks and hit both that and DL California.

Pikester & Whgrn- sorry the DH and ex are being such "goobers". Sometimes I wonder about men .
Pikester - wish you were coming to the meet.

The temps better warm up for next weekend or my kids are gonna be mad. They all want to spend a lot of time at the waterpark section of Hershey.
I too hope the weather is good that Sun. I am wondering how to do the waterpark part and the regular part. Maybe we'll have to do a half and half. AM at amusement side and PM at water???

This time next week we should be crossing into PA if all goes well. :yay:
:hyper::jumping3::jumping3::jumping3::Pinkbounc:

Evening ladies! today was a total bust. Didn't rain, but was dreary and dark all day. Mother Nature better get this out of her system and have a gorgeous weekend coming up.

lighttech! How wonderful that BL has taken steps! Oh my goodness. I do hope you'll be able to meet us next Sunday, but we totally get why you're so busy.

Pikester....if you had made it to the train station, I would have totally picked you up. Next time, girl! I don't really like driving that much either, but the only time that I get driven around is by my brother and he drives SO SLOW that I'm about to go crazy!

Its Harry Potter weekend on ABC Family!

Wendy, congrats on an lazy day at home with the kids. Let them enjoy the comforts of home for a little while longer. Everyone's all packed and ready to go?

Ooh, didn't think about DL. And would like to go to Sea World and Legoland out there...and Knotts Berry Farms. but here's the thing. BF makes the "suggestion" which really translates to Me doing all the planning and arrangements. He basically has to show up and fork over some money.

Ooh...almost time to try out for Millionaire again....
