Kitty, I am so sorry to read about your nephew. Thank God he is going to be okay. I will be praying for his continuing recovery. Some things happen in this life that are so hard to comprehend. Obviously, the roommate has some major mental issues. Thankfully, your nephew has his family to get him through this trying time. I think that your family will all be able to pull together and come out even stronger as time passes. Don't expect to be able to understand all the emotions that you have right now. Just know that God has his arm around you and will get you through. God bless you, your family and your nephew.



Thanks for the tip on having an unlisted number. We have one and emergency situations is just not one of those things I have ever given a great deal of thought to. I will be sure to have DH put a note in his wallet and I will do the same.

I don't even have the words to describe what I felt when I read your post. How absolutely horrible. Just so senseless. I just keep thinking about that feeling you got in your gut when you went to visit his new place this summer.

Well, I have a similar problem...I have an invisible friend who has been on numerous trips and had a WDW trip planned in 4 months but she has an outstanding debt that she owes me. I also have a trip planned and need the money for my 'fun' trip---even though I don't have to pay for getting into DW and a lot of food will be eaten at my friend's home where I stay for free. Don't you think this so called friend needs to pay for her Intercourse pens before planning any more fun activities!?! (She dared me to start a thread that I threatened to do but I chickened out!)

I say tell the deadbeat to pay up! But make sure she knows exactly how much she owes. She may be a very nice person who just isn't aware of how much this debt is affecting you.

That was my thought 40 what? Dollars, okay I'll take it. From what I read and I see some post were deleted, the majority of people (once it was brought out) felt the same way. You have threads with trip reports of a vaca taken just a few short months ago, and a count down in your siggie for another a few months from now you post about you 'problem' and state that you pay tuition from last year when you get 'extra money'. I would think you have to realize the majority of people who would post are not going to be saying oh you poor thing! I have seen people get nasty if God Forbid someone complains about there room and have wondered why isn't a mod stepping in. So why when others are saying the same thing do some people get in trouble? Aren't we all entitled to equal treatment? Just a thought

The OP of that thread started a new one to "explain" it got closed too. The usual "free" trip.
Sometimes I'm tempted to start a thread on the Budget Board asking for advice. But I'm a chicken and I wouldn't listen anyway.

yeah, those posts were poofed....so did the one I got points on....
I've been here what....2 years and now I get points because it sucks to be a teacher that doesn't get a bonus/paid because SOMEONE doesn't pay their bill....sorry it was too much....
That and she was begging last Christmas for handouts and then goes on 2 or 3 trips this year.....awww yea, that pushed me over the edge.

What can you say...even us Southern girls get pushed beyond the limits of courtesy sometimes.....
