Happy Sunday:

It's wet here again...suppose to rain until Thursday...boy when is the weather ever going to get back on track?? Should be well into the 80s but we're lucky to make the 70s.

A friend had the genetic testing done because breast cancer runs through her family...turns out she has the 'cancer gene' so has opted for a hysterectomy and to have her 'ladies' removed. Decided to go with a positive outlook...the party was fun everything on the buffet round and in pairs.

Better get my butt in gear. TTYL

I think it's wonderful that your friend can have such a postitive outlook on such a scary situation. I can't even imagine having to make such a decision. I hope I never have to.

Our weather here has been very strange. The east coast seems to be stuck in a nasty pattern of muggy, rainy, with some sun weather. The weather man explained why this is, something to do with an Omega pattern or whatever. I just know that you never know what weather you are going to get. My area has been pretty lucky. We've had mostly sun with some clouds that roll in, quick shower and then the sun comes back out. The temps have been in the mid to upper 70s. The poor towns on the eastern side of NH (I am on the western side NH closer to Vermont) have been getting hail, wind and flooding. This is the same area that had the tornado last year. This weather has been a scary reminder.

Evening!!!

I spent almost the entire day cooking. I made about 40 shish kebobs, 3 bowls of pasta salad and I still have to make deviled eggs. So now I won't have to do much cooking for the entire week.

Anybody have any great picnic food recipes? My dad is having a picnic on the 4th. Burgers and hot dogs, I'm making macaroni salad, stepmom is making cookies, and my aunt is bringing taco salad.

Ev, it sounds like your friend has a great outlook.

lighttech, you're not the only who has problems with the boards being slow. Sometimes I give up too when things are running slow and that's quite often.

Magikitty, you don't actually get to tour the real Crayola factory. They do have a room set up that shows how they make the crayons but that is it. It's a 4 story building with the top 2 floors dealing with the history of canals. Lot's of hands on activities for kids. The second floor is the Crayola Factory. A dozen or so arts and crafts that they kids can do. You also get tokens that you trade in for crayola products. When you have little ones who are detail oriented, 3 hours is very easy to do.

Do you think you could send over some of those kebobs? DS8 was just saying that he would like some of those for supper. I don't know if he's even had a kebob before. Must be something he saw on TV.

We LOVE deviled eggs! Actually my kids like the eggs without the "devil" sprinkled on them. That is what they call the paprika.

Good morning everyone! How was everyone's Saturday? Hope you had a great birthday, Pikester. Thanks for the cake.

Ev, how did your festivities go?

Tomorrow is my ADR day. I've been fanatically following the restaurant board and panicking. BF is right (don't tell him that)--its free food! Why worry about where we want to go? I keep thinking we may not always be so blessed to go for free dining--we better enjoy it while we can. I'm trying to be very Zen about this---what will be will be. I'm not even getting on the phone at 7am, why bother when I'll be on hold anyway? I'm hoping that getting a table for two will make things a bit easier. Otherwise, I'll take what I can, I just hope I get some of the ones I want.

Older nephew called last night and asked if he could stay over. I felt bad, my first panic was "are you ok? Are you in trouble? Are you hiding from someone?" When he assured me that it was just too much of a hassle to get home, I felt quite relieved. Bless all of you with kids 24-7! Just one phone call and I'm already freaking out!

Have a great day everyone! Talk to you later!

Good luck on ADR day:goodvibes, I guess BF is right, it's free food so just go for your next choice. All is good, eat for free:yay:!

Oh well, it was worth a try. I was hoping to get on, catch up a little, and maybe chat. The boards are just too slow this morning for me. By the time I got on, I have to get off!

Happy Sunday everyone!

I here you! It's bad enough that I dissappeared forever, when I do try to get on it takes forever:confused3.

Sounds like a good outlook:goodvibes okay a bit confused she is having the hyterectomy to preclude breast cancer?

So are the 40 shish kebobs and 3 bowls of pasta salad for the 4th????????
How many people is your dad having? Sounds good and enough food to feed a army!

Hi Pikester, I see your little green light on. How are you? I know, racer got me hungry!

Pikester, I'll fed-ex some kebobs to your DS.

disney54us, nope....all the food I made today is for dinner during the week. I am just so tired of cooking everyday so I figured I would just cook all day today. I'll just have to add different sides each night.

There will be 16 to 20 of us there. I could make some potato salad or fruit salad but I'm just looking for something new.

So kebob away mates:cool1: Sounds good! Throw some my way.
16-20 is a pretty nice size group. So how is the fam?????? Since I missed the past two thread:sad1: did I miss any DSil stories????? Step mom always seems to be upbeat and one step ahead of us.
Okay missing info. I think you said you were packing, last in my world I knew you guys were saving and waiting to move to FL. So, is it happening? If so where, when and don't leave the details out. Is your step son still with you? Will he be moving with you?
Okay I guess that's it for 20 questions until I think of more:rotfl:.

No, SIL stories lately. She is calming down with her ideas. Thank goodness. I've kind of been feeling bad for her since her and my bro are having some problems. Trying to take her a under my wing a little and hopefully point her and him in a better direction.

Stepmom was diagnosed with cancer a couple of weeks ago. The outlook is very good and they caught it early. She has a great outlook on it all and even sent me on a scavenger hunt on vacation to find her bandanas/head wraps since she doesn't want to be bothered with wigs after chemo. My dad is having knee surgery tomorrow and the goofy man thinks he'll be able to drive stick shift in a couple of days. Ummm, ok. I told stepmom they can use the automatic van anytime they want. She'll knock some sense into him. :rotfl2:

We are still moving and aiming for October. Found a couple of small cities we are really interested in and have to take a trip down there to check them out. DS is back living with us since November of last year. Things were really great when he moved back in but lately we've hit some rough patches again. He's moving with us too. His mom won't take real responsibility for him even to the point of having a place big enough for him to have a bedroom. Unless she would change her circumstances, he really has no choice but to go with us.

Now, what have you been up to? How are the kids? DD graduated right? How did she like her last year at public school? How did DS adjust to being at a new school for the whole year?

Good Monday morning everyone! Thanks to Racetrack, I have a hankering for kebobs and pasta salad for breakfast! Really, congrats on getting so much done, and now you don't have to worry for meals for a little bit, anyway.

Hi disny54us! Glad to see you again!

Ok, so I know I said that I would have a relaxed approach to my 90 day ADR date. And I tried, really I did. I bounced out of bed at 6am, and couldn't remember why. Really was confused for a moment...and then realized it was ADR day! So I got online to make ressies...:surfweb: and realized I have no idea what I was doing. So I got a cup of tea, reviewed my choices and waitied for 7am.

I called at 7am, expecting to wait for about 45 minutes on hold, but to my surprise, I got right through and was speaking to a lovely CM at 7:01. I got most of my first choices, had to be a bit flexible for my times, and resolved to call back in a few weeks to tweak some of the ones I'm not so sure about. But I have reservations! Now, I'm just waiting for October hours to come out to see if everything will work out smoothly....

I think the adrenaline is starting to come down now...quickie nap, maybe?

have a good day everyone!

Just when I started to relax and enjoy....

I just read about Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. I'm not a huge fan, but thought it may be a cool thing to experience. As an AP holder, I can get tix for $30/pp and it includes rides! Seriously thinking this may be my "surprise" for BF....

Hey Magikitty!

Isn't it amazing how easy the ADRs go if you're flexible. Unless FD is released for our dates of Nov 29-Dec 6 we are getting the Quick Service Dining Plan. We only have plans to do two table services while we are there, Chef Mickey's and Hoop-Dee-Doo. I feel so lost doing my Disney planning because I don't have to plan where we are going to eat, at least by the 90 day mark. I'll still plan which QS restaurants we want to eat at but it's not the same. Just for fun I've been pretending that we have Free Dining and am picking out restaurants that I would eat at. Yes, that's right! I have no life!

disney54: Sorry about leaving you last night. :sad1: I did't realize you had stopped by.

Question for you all. Is it just my DH or do yours never tell you anything? He'll go out to his folks house and they will talk about his side of the family stuff but when he comes home he doesn't tell me what is going on. Just found out on Saturday, at my Birthday gathering, that my FIL is going to be having a pacemakers/defibrillator thing put in on Monday, today! Another thing he didn't tell me, my DH Grandmother lives in FL during the winter and while she was down there she was having some female problems. Well, she ended up having a hysterectomy. Come to find out she has uterine cancer. My MIL was telling us this weekend that Grammy has been having back pain and had an MRI done. I guess her cancer has spread to her spine. There is nothing that can be done so it's just keeping her comfortable for now. How scary that must be!

I guess I better go and get something done. I actually slept in till 9:30am due to the day being cloudy and rainy.

Morning Pikester! So sorry to hear about all the issues in DH's family. Maybe DH is too overwhelmed to speak about it? In my experience, men just don't see the same urgency/importance of most things. I know I have to ask about BFs parents/sister/nieces or else I wouldn't even know they exist! Oh, I meant to ask you, are you driving down to Orlando again? If you are, let me know...I'll have something for you again....

I know what you mean about finding something to plan! Now that my ADRs are made, and my backup tweaking list is made, what to do now? I do have to play with my rental car ressies, but that's just depressing...too much money for right now. I've been looking at menus at planning my meals...

Pikester Sorry to hear about your DH's grandmother.

My DH doesn't tell me much of anything period. He'll make plans but neglect to tell me. He calls his mom every week but I have to ask him if his mom had anything to say. He usually says "no" (they're on the phone for an hour). :confused3

MagiKitty Happy to hear you got your ADRs. :thumbsup2

Hey all:

Sounds like a good outlook:goodvibes okay a bit confused she is having the hyterectomy to preclude breast cancer?

I guess the gene can lead to either of the cancers, but in her family the women all seem to die of breast cancer.

Question for you all. Is it just my DH or do yours never tell you anything? He'll go out to his folks house and they will talk about his side of the family stuff but when he comes home he doesn't tell me what is going on. I think it's just a guy thing...they really are hopeless at stuff like that. A friend's son had a brain tumor removed a few weeks ago (he's 15) and I ran into his 14 year old brother later that same day. I asked him "how did it go today" and his response was "with what???"

DL55, BKMETV, Magikitty: I guess it is a guy thing.

Magikitty: Yes, we are driving down again. If you have the same thing as last year that would be so AWESOME!

Hi all!

The weather here has gone from 90s to 60s in a matter of 1 day. What is up with that??? Kids froze at swim lessons today. Can't we have a happy medium here somewhere? Guess I'm saving money by not having to run the AC but feels more like fall then summer. :sad2:

Pikester - so sorry to hear about DHs grandma. How scary and awful for her. My prayers for her and your family.
Not sure if its just a guy thing. My DH is pretty good about telling me stuff. I, on the other hand, tend to forget if I told him or not. He gets mad at me if he ends up finding out from someone else. Guess my memory is going.

Kitty - So glad you got all your ADRs without much hassle. :yay:

Okay...now you've peaked our curiosity...What's this cool thing you have been sharing with Pikester????:confused3:hyper:

8 pages to catch up on....

Whgrn: Isn't Glenn Beck a riot? I go to the fitness center and watch his show while riding the bike. He has such a cute smile...I'm sure it drives some crazy! :rotfl:

D&DDisney: I'm jealous...I'll get there...have to bump more! ;)

marie: My friends don't like AK but I wish I could have spent more time there. There were some paths we didn't go down. I think it's more relaxing and I do love Nemo.

I think it was Marie who wrote about Splenda. That's what my dr told me to use. Maybe people use it and think they can still pig out just because it's not sugar. :confused3 I found Smuckers grape jelly with Splenda that is very good. I didn't compare the calories so maybe there's not much difference but I have to watch sugar more than calories. Don't get me wrong---I'm still needing to loose the weight but I do have to have some enjoyment in eating! Keep us posted on the Splenda research. I'll see if I learn anything about it in my nutrition classes.

I had to start another post---that one was getting a little long! :lmao:

Need to say a belated
9.gif
to Pikester.

Thanks for the invite Sukie...I'm sure you throw a great party.

Racer: How much Crayola stuff did you bring home? I just love to color! I would spend my allowance on colored pencils and pens from the 5 and 10 store!

D&D: strawberries....YUM!

Kitty: I just had a feeling you would be on the phone early for those ADR's. Glad it was easy...

Must get something to eat...later...

Pikester so sorry to hear about DHs grandma. I think it is most definitely a guy thing--total lack of communication. My ex was the same way, and so is my dad!

Spent a really pleasant day with DS (DD is at golf camp all day). He is being such an angel. If only it would last...:lmao:

I envy those of you making ADRs--you dont have to think about what to make for dinner!!:rotfl2:

M&N I just love him! The funny faces he makes and the voices he does just crack me up! I never miss his show.

Goodness gracious! Wendy, is your ticker right? Just 19 days until the Hershey meet?! Congrats on having a good day with DS.

Ok, I didn't mean to pique anyone's curiosity. Let's just say that I book my vacay thru AAA and I don't use a lot in my packet, so I pass on some :wizard: to someone who could use it. I did this last year, and I noticed that Pikester is going to WDW a few weeks after me....

Freaky weather here too. Its been dark and gloomy all afternoon and it started pouring a while ago. Now its that freaky golden rain outside, which only means that it'll start thunder and lightning soon....

I'm not sure about the Splenda debate. I know there has been some concern that artificial sweeteners are SO SO sweet, that it increases one's cravings for sweeter stuff. My dad's a diabetic and has been using Splenda exclusively for years without incident. He prefers it over other artificials, since it doesn't have an aftertaste....

So I haven't broached the subject of Halloween at Universal yet. I watched some stuff on it on YouTube and I'm not sure its for me! It seems really scary, but its also something that BF would enjoy. I'll be fine as long as no one touches me! I'm willing to bargain MNSSHP for HHN at Universal. I've even looked at the schedules, and it would only require add/dropping one ressie. BF was kinda cranky today so I'll wait to spring it on him at a better time.
