I like all those patterns, Pikester! And spending time with kids, I truly underappreciated Corolle!

Good morning!! It's cold here as usual. I was looking at our weather forecast and we might get some snow on Christmas Eve. Of course, then they want a mix of snow and rain on Christmas Day so it will just turn into one big sloppy mess.

I still have Christmas shopping to do. Every year I say I'm going to do it all early and be done by December. And every year, I put it off till the last minute. Maybe next year. :rotfl:

Pikester, I'm going to have to look for those crackers when I go out shopping this weekend too. They sound so yummy.

Magikitty, that's so funny about your sister and they toy store. Could you imagine the looks she would have gotten if she did carry the doll out like a newborn?

whgrn, 12 and a girlfriend!!!! :scared1: I don't even want to go there with DD13. I know the time is coming but I don't even want to thing about it.

JOCA, your DDs are so beautiful, I'm sure boys will be knocking down your door all too soon! But that's what Daddys and Big Brothers are for, right? Put off the dating as long as possible....really put off heartache as long as possible. There is plenty of time to be a grownup!

Besides, boys are mostly silly until 23 years old. And even then, they aren't that great all the time. :lmao:

I still have some shopping to do. Venturing out tomorrow. The stores have been giving out all sorts of free items or money that I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get some good buys. Will you be affected by the snow this weekend? Its not supposed to get as far north as me, but they are talking about the DC and Philly areas getting some white stuff....

Bopsmom You can call me anything you like as long as you don't call me late to supper. ;)
whgrn A girlfriend at 12? Where do they "go out"? :confused3 And it's only going to get better. :happytv:

Going to be 60 and sunny today. :cool2: One of my Santa ornaments is missing. I'm sure kitty has taken it as a keepsake. :santa:

No calls to work today so I've been listening to the radio and doing some research on dinnerware. I bought some cheapy type 16pc sets at Kmart thinking I would like them. They've been sitting in my pantry since October because I haven't taken the time to unbox them, wash them and then put them away. I decided to get off my duff and do that but before washing I took two plates out, stacked one on top of the other and turned the plate. Left scratches on the bottom one. Both sets are going back to the store (I should mention that they were stoneware). I've been looking at Corelle sets online and found a couple of patterns that I like.

1st choice

2nd

3rd

I emailed DH the choices and he likes them in the same order that I do.

I suppose I should get a few more chores done so I'm off to clean the bathroom. JOY!

"Hey" don't discount(no pun intended) Walmart ware.
I have a few beautiful 16 place place setting sets of white from there. Yeah, I have a big family and we entertain a lot.
I use a few 'cheap' sets something along the lines of of http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10098872 with my 80.00+ per plate Portmeirion Botanic Garden pattern or my Hayworth (off white) pattern or any of my other patterns that I have inherited and it looks beautiful on the table.
I don't have to worry about having a cardiac when a child(or friend) breaks one setting.
I was a buyer for Crystal, China and Silver (with a British Import Company and later for Sakowitz) in a past life and I have found that some of Walmart's dinnerware is very good, if not better, than you can by per place setting at finer stores. I prefer white with my other patterns and change the look with chargers, place mats and napkins.

Buy what makes you happy and sets the type of table you like..:goodvibes that is all that matters. A beautiful table is an expression of the hostess.:thumbsup2

Thanks to your fast action!:goodvibes

You've got good PO service there! No one looked like they needed Dramamine so, I guess riding in the bin was OK with everyone.

The eyes of Texas are upon us!

EV--loved the blond joke!
Kitty--you are polite! Waiting for the video of your cooking demo to be uploaded!
Hey Santa Walter...You are the only reason I was happy to get back to my computer. I just knew your Mommy would have a special pic of you here!

I'm back and freezing...what a change from FL. It was in the 80's there and 32 when landed here! I did see snow on the ground someplace in the air...none here though. They did get some while I was gone.

I had a great vacation. I made it to DHS to see the lights. I made my Christmas cards from a picture there. I went to EPCOT...walked around the world showcase, ate in Germany, and went to Candlelight Processional. We didn't stay for the fireworks. We went back one morning to shop. I had seen a Mickey jacket I wanted. We went to MK 2 times but I really didn't get to do much there. We ate at Liberty Tree Tavern. I had never done that. My friend gets a half price coupon for 4 as part of their Christmas package. So we splurged with NE clam chowder, Yankee pot roast, and a fruit cobbler. She only called 4 days ahead for a 1:30 reservation. I was disappointed with the riverboat show...they came down the river but did not stop and do a show. We stood for 40 min waiting. I did go to Country Bear Jamboree and the Hall of Presidents. I watched a parade in front of the castle where the characters are dancing...forget the name of it. The day I met Marie, we only went around 4 for the parade and fireworks.
Yes, I did get to meet Marie and her DD. They were so sweet with their southern accents. We had quite a few rainy, cloudy days during our 2 weeks. It also turned hot. The two days before we left were very foggy in the am. I was concerned about going to the airport but my prayers were answered and it was clear. That direct flight is the way to go. Sorry Pikester, it took less than 2 hours for me to get there! I know the driving can be horrible. I'm glad I didn't have to worry about the weather and driving.
I took lots of pics but have no time to get them on Photobucket. I work all day tomorrow and half days Mon and Tue. I still have some cards to get out and gift cards to get for some people.
Glad it seems all is well here!

Welcom back M&N!:goodvibes

Bopsmom: I wasn't sure how to take your post. I got my cheapy dishes at Kmart not Walmart and I plan on ordering my new dishes from Walmart. I didn't know if you were offended that I said the dishes were cheapy or if you were just letting me know that cheap yet good dishes can be found at Walmart.

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to go with my number 2 choice as I can mix and match solids with them. White, black even red if I want to.

Oh, no offense at all. :goodvibes:hug:
I was just saying that cheap ($-wise) dishes can be found all over (probably why I no longer have a job selling Crystal/China:rotfl:) and I loved your choice. I had an elderly man tell me when I first starting working,"if it still looks good with egg yolk on it then it's a good dish."
I love to mix and match patterns/colors too.

Good Morning..
Would whoever organized the Card exchange please PM me. I have some addresses but not that many.

Thank you:hippie:

g-g-g-good m-m-m-m-morning all, from NJ where it is BLOODY FREEZING!! It was 19 when the kids left for school, and they are forecasting snow over the weekend. I know some of you have it MUCH colder, and you have my sympathy, believe me. I wore my fur coat to the eye doctor this morning and never took it off the whole time I was there (over an hour) because it was so cold IN the office! Brrrrrrrrrrr!!

i've gotten some lovely cards from my wonderful TK friends! MK your photos are adorable! Love yours too M&N! Anyone who didn't get a card from me yet, PM me your address and I'll send it out. Same with e-cards--I sent them to everyone whose email address I have, so if you didn't get one, I don't have your email.

I don't think I posted this already--I am officially employed starting in January!! I've been approved by the school board for a school nurse position (just a sub, but that's fine by me) and I go in on the 12th for orientation! It's only taken about 2 years to go through the whole process, so of course now I need to redo my CPR certification, but that's no big deal.

Duke seems to be responding well to his new meds--I noticed there was even some food left in his dish after he ate this morning. And when I came home he grabbed a toy and wanted to play! Not bad for 4 doses of medicine!

I have decided that after the holidays I am returning to a no wheat, no dairy, no eggs, no white stuff regimen. I will do it for a month, and then allow only very small, occasional amounts of those things. I've realized that i just feel better when I don't have them. My sinuses have been a mess this fall, and I'm tired all the time, like before I eliminated this stuff last time. I will miss my dear friends cheese and yogurt, but they will be OK as once in a while treats. I guess it's worth the tradeoff. The nice thing is that I will lose the 10 pounds I've found over the past few months, and maybe my pants will fit a little better!:confused3

My sister just told me that my niece has been accepted to Northeastern on early decision! She has no plans to go there, but being accepted was a big deal. Apparently my sister's SIL (a real piece of work!) paid some guy thousands of dollars to help them navigate the college admissions process for her daughter. My sister had offered to do it for free, but they wanted the "expert". Well, DSis did the navigating for my niece, and she got in early, where her cousin just got in with the regular admissions! So my sister is gloating just a little bit! My niece has been accepted to about 8 colleges, most of them offering her a nice financial aid package. But she's already decided on Drexel, and we don't even know what they are offering! I'm just glad she'll be relatively close to us (about 1.5 hours) and even closer to my parents (45 minutes).

Well, keep warm everyone. I'm so glad Bopsmom is taking me to Disney soon! BTW, if I'm in Texas, why do I still feel so cold???

Welcome back M&N! Glad you had a great trip. How I miss 80 degree weather. :cloud9:
whgrn Congratulations on the job! :thumbsup2

We just got back from my DH's retirement party. He got a congratulatory letter from Obama. He also got a plaque with a piece of metal representing the test track. Even I got a certificate thanking me for my support of my husband. He only has 6 working days left.

Congrats Wendy!
I FINALLY got my cards done and out. Walter wasn't making that to easy.
Glad to be getting cards to!
Congrats DL and hubby!

Just posting because my ticker says 1 day:lmao::scared1::woohoo:

Have fun Bopsmom, I'm jealous!
Thank you but...
Don't be jealous one smidge....you have a beautiful little boy to spend a first Christmas with:angel:..:goodvibes

When you are draggin' around a surly 12 year old, you will know what I mean.:rotfl:

Safe travels Bopsmom! I tried to email you some French Toast but it wouldn't go through...:lmao: Have a great trip!
