Hi Sukie Say Hi to Pikester next time she calls. :goodvibes
Glad to hear from MagiKitty. Sounds like she is having fun. We'll need a new picture of her. :)
Didn't do too badly on the trivia, Would of helped if I had watched them recently. :rolleyes1
Everyone be careful of the holiday travel.

Well, I think I have everything packed that I can. The only things that still need to be packed is the stuff that we have to use in the morning.(For some reason that sentence just doesn't sound right but I can't figure out if I'm suppose to use "is" or "are" :confused3)
The correct verb is ARE. It is associated with the subject "The only thingS". Since thing is plural you use ARE. We'll forgive you this time because you have Disney on the brain. :lmao:
HAVE A GREAT TRIP PIKESTER!!!!:woohoo:

Thanksgiving is done and over with and it went wonderfully. whgrn, I stuck to your advice about keeping track of cooking times and it worked perfectly. I am so glad I made that list. :goodvibes We ended up with 10 for dinner but we hardly had any leftovers. Not sure if I just shopped that well or if everyone just ate that much. I will say that my brother, who is usually very picky, had 2 plates of food.
I'd attribute it to your good cooking! :thumbsup2 Nice job! Glad it went well.

JO, I'm glad I could help, and so glad it all came out well! We have a TON of leftovers, since I bought a 20 pound turkey thinking we'd have 8 people, and also made potatoes in quantity fit for 8, but we only had . Also, I couldn't even finish ONE plate of food, and DS ate very little. The stuffing and apple pie seemed to be the biggest hits. My DB had FOUR servings of stuffing!

I will NOT be shopping today, or any day soon. I avoid it like the plague this time of year. The few things I still need I will get online. Dad announced last night that he wants a Snuggie!!!:rotfl2: Think I'll let Mom handle that one...she lives at WalMart anyway!. Shop safely!
OMG... 20lb for 8 people??? Guess y'all like turkey soup, turkey sandwiches, turkey pot pie, turkey chili, etc.:rotfl2:
Just a few leftovers for us. Had a 14lb turkey for 10 people which I only paid about $5.00 for :woohoo: cuz the store was selling them .39 cents/lb. The baked sweet potatoes were to die for again . Even my SIL who is dieting, said she had to leave room for those. Smart girl!

We were one of the crazy nuts out early shopping on BF. Got out there at 5am and DH and I got almost all the shopping done. We then had a nice lunch out, came home to uppack and then pick up the kids from grandma's house. All in all it was a very productive day. Saved a bundle!!! Here's some of my BF finds...
Hasbro games for $5.00
Jammies for kids & nieces/nephew $3.00
Crockpot for $10
700ct bed sheets for $25 (they are soooo soft!) :cloud9:
Ninetendo DS Lite for $98

Hi Kitty! Miss you too! Can't wait to see pics of your new hair style.

Hi DL55

Sukie - Thanks for the Pikester updates. Did she remember to take the TKers on this vacation?

M&N - Loved the Disney trivia, even though I didn't do that well.

WOW D&D, those are some great deals!!

I had to go near the mall today. Needed to go to Home Depot to get adaptors for the outside lights, and extension cords. It's on the same property as the mall, but seperate. What a zoo!!! I'm so glad I don't have to go back there!

My outside stuff is up. It's not really the way I wanted it, but it still looks ok. And considering I paid BFF's "BIL" about 10% of what the "professionals" wanted, I think I did pretty good! He even cleared out some of my leaves. I broke down and bought a leaf blower. DS has been begging for one for a month. Wanna bet my leaves get cleared tomorrow?!?:lmao:

I think I'm starting to get tired of turkey. Had it for lunch and dinner yesterday, lunch today (and will have it for dinner). Hopefully tomorrow will be the end of it, other than the bit I'm freezing for soup. Half of one whole side was all spongy, so it tossed it--not taking any chances!

I did some online shopping today. Got the LEGO stuff DS wants (and DD even asked for a couple of little ones, so I got them too). One of the things he wants the most is on backorder until late January. No one else has it. so I ordered it, and he'll get it for his birhtday in Feb! The thing from my DBro is on BO too, but only til Dec 28th, so he can wait the few days it will take to get here. Heaven knows he'll have enough LEGO stuff to work on before that!

I also got a cool thing for DD from my sister (we buy gifts for our own kids "from each other", since she's in Turkey) It's from Pottery Barn teens. Sort of like a stained glass/mirrored flower thingy that you can stick photos in to display them. I think she will really like it. Now if she would only give me some ideas for Grandma!!!

So, do you think I should put a tag on my bike that says "To Wendy, from Santa"??:rotfl2: (actually, maybe it should say "from Dr. Westrich, Lenny & Charlie"--my PTs!!) But since DD still believes, and DS isn't quite sure, I can't do that or it will raise too many questions. BFF swears that DD doesn't really still believe, but I am convinced she does. she's so darn innocent, it really doesn't surprise me. But it sure will be alot easier when I don't have to sneak around late Christmas Eve putting out the stockings and the stuff under the tree!!

Good afternoon. I hope all of you who have braved the Black Friday sales have made it home all in one piece. Me, I am a coward. I stayed home all day... where it is safe!

LITC, glad you liked my decoration pictures. Some of us have to settle with whatever we can find to take photos of since we don't have a precious baby to share with everyone. They are hard to put down, aren't they. I could just sit and stare at their beautiful features all day long.

DL55, DD's toes are looking much better now. I am making her wear those UGLY crocs (Ya hear that D&D?) cause I know anything else she wears will end up giving her a blister. I will be wearing them too. No fashion for me. I am all about comfort when it comes to walking around those parks!

M&N, thanks for the tip for raising my post count. It works really good. ;) I am afraid that it is going to take more than one blasting from me to straighten out my DH. He still has no clue! I have always said that if there is something bad to inherit from your family that is what you will get. Unfortunately his DD was an ****** and he has his moments when his genetics come shining through. Thankfully, he can be a teddy bear at times too and is a good man deep inside where it counts. He just makes himself look like a horse's patootie sometimes.
Loved the quiz... although it was tough. I didn't do as bad as I thought I might. I could have done better if I had cheated and asked DD but I managed 7 all by myself.

Kitty, good to hear from you. Glad you are safe! So we have e celebrity among us... out giving presentations abroad! Very neat idea for you to get to share our Thanksgiving traditions with the students. I bet they had fun making hand turkeys. Glad you got a lot of you Christmas shopping done. Just hope you can make it home with all of it.

Sukie, thanks for giving us a Pikester update. I bet you are glad she checks in to let you know all is well.

D&D, oh man I am going to be in BIG trouble if we start getting corrected on our language usage skills! My sentence structuring really stinks! Thank heavens I don't have to pass any tests anymore! I just get to annoy all the teachers who hang out around here. :rolleyes1 I like the Disney on the brain excuse. I should be able to qualify for that!
Sounds like a good shopping day. That much less that you will have to drag home from WDW!

Wendy, Good job getting the lights all up. I am pretty much done inside, except for the tree when we get back but still need to put up a couple things outside.... or not. Depends on how fast I run out of time.
Online shopping. :thumbsup2 My kind of shopping too!

I heard that alright!!!! You know, a good pair of sneakers works just as well. I like my K-Swiss. Never a blister or tired feet in those babies. :cool2:

As for the grammar, I'll cut my southern sister some slack. Y'all talk funny any ways.:rotfl2::lmao: JK We love you dispite the accent. ;)

I think I have figured out why I have never hosted a holiday meal at our house before (besides not having room for everybody). I am more exhausted from this than when we moved. I feel ready to go to bed already. :scared1:

marie, leave it husbands to make the holidays more difficult. Mine's been home for 3 days and he is driving me insane. DH isn't home most of the time, so the kids and I have our routine for everything. And when he is home, we are suppose to do everything the way he wants it whether it works or not. And when we don't do it his way, he will harp on us over and over again. I know he wants to help and all that but sometimes I just wish he would sit on the couch and do nothing.

D&DDisney what's wrong with crocs? I have a couple of pairs that I wear all the time. They are just so comfy and cute. :rolleyes1:rotfl2:

whgrn, I can't believe you had a 20lb turkey for 8 people. I only got a 14lb for 11 of us. As of right now, we only have a leg and the 2 wings left.

We got our tree up and have decorated a little bit. I'll post some pictures later once I download them into the computer.

I uploaded a few pictures of what we have done so far.

IMG_0644.jpg

I do have a Mickey shaped wreath we will be hanging above the fireplace as soon as we find it in the basement. My oldest DD made it for me last year and I kept it up year round at our old house.
IMG_0662.jpg

IMG_0652.jpg

No, the wreath isn't centered on the door. I didn't want to cover the lowest window for when the kids have to look out and see who is at the door.
IMG_0653.jpg

Rope lights that we added out front for now. We are thinking of getting some solar powered lights for our front windows since I don't want cords running all over the place. And maybe some of those lit up spiral trees. We'll add more when DH has 2 days off in a row again.
IMG_0655.jpg

And here is our doggie who refused to sit near the tree for a nice picture. I think she did it just to annoy us. :rotfl:
IMG_0661.jpg

Oh, and yes, our tree is crooked. For some reason, DH just can't get the tree to be straight. I think DD and I will work on it tomorrow while he's at work. :rolleyes1

JOCA, your decorations look very nice. I posted mine on FB, but it's too darn much work to put them on Photobucket to post here. Yes, I'm lazy...

Pikester update.

Good morning folks. 11/28~1:11pm They were playing on the beach at Daytona. The van was right there with them in case it got to windy. DS8 was running around chasing seagulls so she was watching for the other cars that were there. The weather is real nice.

They were leaving there and heading for Kissimmee, then on to have supper at The Cracker Barrel. They will be spending the night at the Super 8 motel. She wasn't sure what they were doing after. Keep you posted.

JOCAmom~ cool pictures.

D&D~ YES, she did remember to take the TKers. :grouphug:

Chat later.

JOCAmom Love your decorations, looks very traditional. :cloud9: Cute dog. A crooked Christmas tree is traditional too. :lmao: (I didn't notice anything wrong with it).
Sukie Thanks for the Pikester update.

It's actually raining here. We even have a winter weather advisory. Trying to decide whether to shop now in the rain or wait until tomorrow when it's supposed to be colder. Decisions, decisions. :confused3

JOCA - I love your Christmas decorations. If you hadn't mentioned it, I too would not have known anything was crooked or off-center. Your fireplace is looking good and the garland around the staircase is very nice! :thumbsup2
Sorry if I offended you with my Croc statement. It is a well known fact that I cannot stand the clog type Crocs so the teasing goes back and forth here. I think I only have 1 or 2 other supporters on this...DL55 and M&N (unless she caved to pressure):rotfl2:

Sukie - Thanks for the Pikester update. I bet they are checkin into their hotel at POP as I type this. We will live vicariously through your updates. :lovestruc

DL55 - You might get snow????? What is wrong here??? It has been in the 50s and sunny here for the past few days. Aren't you supposed to be having this weather and I have yours? Stay safe!!!

I still have to put up the Christmas tree today. Tried to finish all the other decorating yesterday. Now I just have to assemble the tree (yes, we have an artificial tree), string the lights, and have the kids help w/ ornaments.

It's 43 right now, radar shows a big blob heading our way. I'm not too worried about snow. It probably won't snow until tonight..maybe. I am glad I got my morning walk in before it started. :goodvibes

Hey Guys! :wave2:
Decorating here too. Taking it slow but, it will get done. I have blocked myself from work for Monday and Tuesday so I can finish and get some rest. Presents are bought and wrapped already. I have been working sick and I don't want to get so run down that I can't enjoy my vacation.

Add to that that DD is planning a Christmas party for the 11th-:scared:I must have been in the middle of a high fever when I agreed to that.:scared1:

Everyone's houses looks so pretty. Wish we could have a virtual progressive party----visit house to house for Christmas.

I got a new ticker yesterday....(2 more actually, but I am waiting till January to put the other one up):sad2:

BTW-DD and DH love to wear their Crocs to WDW. I wear Croc sandals teaching when my feet get too sore. :rolleyes1

Bopsmom Definitely rest, you want to be healthy for your trip! :flower3:

Hi all:

Sounds like everyone is busy decorating...I got my outside done, just some lights and a couple of pots with greenery (my attempt at Martha Stewart)!!! Tree went up today and the rest of the decorations will hopefully be done on Tues. I'll hopefully post some pics then. Tomorrow 6 mommies/1 baby are piling in my van and heading to Stratford to shop...there are several neat shops (chocolate, toy, kitchen/china and nursery) we have to hit every year.

Better get moving have to put my roast in the oven.

TTYL

D&D, I knew I would get a snappy response from you about the crocs! I do love my K Swiss tennies too but even they don't work for me in the parks. Anything with a seam ends up rubbing a blister on me no matter how broke in the shoes may be.
So you think I talk funny, huh? You are probably right! BUT I can spell "despite" despite being from Texas! You can correct me on my sentence structure and I will correct your spelling, sister. ;) :rotfl:

JOCAmom, you so have my sympathy! I know exactly what it is like when the world is supposed to change entirely just cause DH is at home. Difference is that my DH does sit on the couch and do nothing! :sad2:
Hope you have gotten to rest up some from the big TG crowd. Yeah for getting the tree up and decorating some. Everything looks great!

Wendy, since you are being so lazy I had to go hunt down the photos of your tree. :lmao: It was worth it though. Your tree is lovely.

Sukie, keep those updates coming! And BTW, how are you?

DL55, so which was it? Any great shopping deals or shopping tomorrow? It really cooled off here today after church. Looks like it is going to start raining at any time.

Bopsmom, hope you are all back to normal in time for your trip.

BKMETV, sounds like your Martha Stewart attempt is going pretty well.

I AM DONE!!!!!

The decorations are up, inside and out, and now my shopping is done too!!! The last holdout was DD--she's impossible to shop for. I asked for ideas and her thoughts were things like "Yankees stuff", "cookbooks", "oh, there's a different Wii snowboarding game I saw on TV". Really helpful...NOT!

Well, I did a Google search of 'gifts for cooks' and came up with a really cute personalized chef sign. It says stuff like CHEF--World Class, Souffles guaranteed not to fall, My kitchen--my rules, and a few other things, and there is a piece that hangs down with her name on it. She will go ape for it! So that is from Grandma, along with a cool cookbook.

She also mentioned a Michael Phelps poster. I really thought this was a cool idea, becuase when I was her age, I had a Mark Spitz poster! So I found one, and that will be from the dog. also found a cool swim cap that says Eat. Sleep. Swim. She's been wanting a swim cap that isn't the same as everyone elses (so we can find her more easily in the pool!) She really wants one with the Scottish flag on it, but as far as I can see it doesn't exist. So that will go in her stocking.

Now I can relax and enjoy the Christmas season, knowing that all I have to do is wrap the presents--which I can do in a matter of 2 hours or less! So, once everything arrives, I will wrap and be done with it. woohooo!!!!!

My leg is killing me. NOT my knee, it's further down, in the shin. Feels like someone is stabbing me every time I take a step. I was going to go grocery shopping today, but decided against it. hopefully the PT can help tomorrow. If not, I'll have to order my groceries online!

I am so jealous of those of you headed south. Not that I could walk through WDW right now anyway.

Marie, glad you like the tree!

Good Morning Everyone.
It's cold and wet here today. Despite:lmao:being near the Gulf Coast. Marie you are too funny.

Warming up the computer for Cyber Monday:surfweb: and like Wendy mentioned-getting the last things for the 'hold outs'. I have seen swim caps with the Scottish flag but, maybe you will just have to go back to Scotland to pick one up.

DD showed me this site last night..
http://www.gifts.com/finder it's kinda neat for ideas.

Thank you all for the well wishes.
I am much, much better now-it was touch and go there the last week and I had to work sick because I was filling a vacancy for a MIA teacher. (She really wasn't MIA the lil sh#$#@ts ran that poor woman and 3 other subs off.)
It was typical teaching though...some times I miss it -other times-not so much
During the vacancy, I had 2 student teachers one day, the district Math Specialists in another day, an 'upset' parent who wanted to know why I was picking on her son(she saw the light after I had her observe his behavior and see his work-that blew up in his face big time) and the candidate for the job another. :headache:
But, I know today they will have a new teacher and will behave. I threatened them that if they mess with her I would personally help her call their parents.
DH wonders why I don't go back full time:lmao:

I can't believe December 1st is tomorrow

Happy Monday Ya'll:hippie:
