Good Morning Everyone.
It's cold and wet here today. Despite:lmao:being near the Gulf Coast. Marie you are too funny.

Warming up the computer for Cyber Monday:surfweb: and like Wendy mentioned-getting the last things for the 'hold outs'. I have seen swim caps with the Scottish flag but, maybe you will just have to go back to Scotland to pick one up.

DD showed me this site last night..
http://www.gifts.com/finder it's kinda neat for ideas.

Thank you all for the well wishes.
I am much, much better now-it was touch and go there the last week and I had to work sick because I was filling a vacancy for a MIA teacher. (She really wasn't MIA the lil sh#$#@ts ran that poor woman and 3 other subs off.)
It was typical teaching though...some times I miss it -other times-not so much
During the vacancy, I had 2 student teachers one day, the district Math Specialists in another day, an 'upset' parent who wanted to know why I was picking on her son(she saw the light after I had her observe his behavior and see his work-that blew up in his face big time) and the candidate for the job another. :headache:
But, I know today they will have a new teacher and will behave. I threatened them that if they mess with her I would personally help her call their parents.
DH wonders why I don't go back full time:lmao:

I can't believe December 1st is tomorrow

Happy Monday Ya'll:hippie:

Love your teaching story. :lmao: I'll have to go check out that giftfinder site...now that I'm all done! I assume you meant to say you haven't seen the swim caps, but if you have PLEASE tell me where! I did check when I was in Scotland, but no luck.

I have a ton of calls to make today--scheduling doctors, some boring stuff, and I have to call the township about my huge tree branch that is just hanging in midair, waiting to fall on someone and kill them. Also have to go for labwork and PT, and if my leg alllows, to the grocery store. DD was not happy having to take PB&J for lunch today!

Have a great day everyone!

I FOUND IT!!!!!

I finally found a swim cap with the Scottish flag on it!!! Found it on a website from the UK, and have to pay 4 pounds (about $7) to ship it, but it is SO worth it! DD will go ape when she sees it!

And the tree guy just left. They will take down the limb and another broken one, and they'll be here within the next couple of hours. YAY!!!

It's looking up to be a good day.:cloud9:

Wendy, yeah for getting your shopping done! Just a quick search on Google and I found these Scottish swim caps. Of course, nothing would be local. Maybe one of the links will help you out.

Hope the PT can help make your leg feel better.

Bopsmom, I am glad I was able to provide some amusement for you this morning. It sounds like you need it after all that being sick and working. I am in awe of all teachers who take on a whole class full all day. :worship: I go batty with just my own 2! You must be one tough cookie being able to hang in there after they had already run off the other teachers.

Yeah! :cheer2: your day is turning around or a least falling into place.....now you can turn attention back on getting that PT done.
I am so glad. I found the ones from Olendar(?) also I just didn't know if converting to pounds was ok with you.

Marie-We GRITS(girl raised in the South) have to stick together:hug::laughing:

Thank you for the compliment. I used to have a T-shirt that said, "You can't scare me, I teach Middle School".

At school, the principal calls me the "Big Gun" :teacher: they give me the classes and kids that have proven to be "difficult":rotfl2:.

I set the bar pretty high. I told them on the first day that "we" have 'goals' and they will all be able to meet them before their new teacher arrives.
In 2+ weeks they went from not being able to turn fractions into decimals to doing percent formulas-even in word problems, figuring tax, even finding percent of change and compounded interest.

On the last day I reminded them of my "list of goals" and we'd made every single one. You could see a change in attitude right then. It's hard to hate a job that can give such immediate results. I really am trying to find my niche again. I like the classroom but, I have seen things/kids change so much in the 17 years I have been doing this.:sad2:

D&D, I knew I would get a snappy response from you about the crocs! I do love my K Swiss tennies too but even they don't work for me in the parks. Anything with a seam ends up rubbing a blister on me no matter how broke in the shoes may be.
So you think I talk funny, huh? You are probably right! BUT I can spell "despite" despite being from Texas! You can correct me on my sentence structure and I will correct your spelling, sister. ;) :rotfl:
:rolleyes:Okay...you got me. Always had trouble with spelling. I inherited the bad gene from my dad. Correct me all you want because I can use the help.

My leg is killing me. NOT my knee, it's further down, in the shin. Feels like someone is stabbing me every time I take a step. I was going to go grocery shopping today, but decided against it. hopefully the PT can help tomorrow. If not, I'll have to order my groceries online!
OUCH!!! Hope it clears up for you soon.
Do you have Peapod in your area? They'll deliver. Wish I could help you. I enjoy going grocery shopping.

Trying to do some cyber shopping but haven't found any good deals yet. Only need a few things - mostly for hubby as I couldn't shop for him on Friday. He is a great guy and humors me by getting up early on BF to help w/ the shopping. (Secretely, I think he enjoys the rush and nabbing a good deal, but he won't admit it;))

whgrn Glad your day is turning around. Hope the pain in your leg goes away. :flower3:
Bopsmom We need more teachers like you. I just love that T-shirt (even if you don't have it any more ;))

We went shopping yesterday in the rain. just ordered something for DH for Christmas. I still need to get something else for DD then my Christmas shopping will be done. I am thinking a piece of coal for my DD. ;)
We have some snow on the mountains but nothing down here. We are on winter storm watch until tomorrow am. Maybe something tonight? It's always fun to have some snow. :woohoo:

Maybe we can get a 'group rate' on that coal:santa::rolleyes: Check out that www.gift.com site I mentioned before..:surfweb:..it really has some neat ideas. Things they didn't even know they wanted.:goodvibes
What did you order your DH????
If my DH doesn't stop 'gifting' the house with all the things he wants there won't be anything but coal in his stocking this year.

Granted, I do like the Keurig Coffee Maker he got last week. Now he wants a fire pit? I told him if it's that cold outside, I'm gonna' be inside. :confused3We don't even use the fireplace in the living room-we've been here almost 10 years and have never burned a log or put in the gas logs-why the need for fire now????
He said he's getting it so DD can let her friends make smores at the Xmas party next weekend:confused: yeah, sure....he wants one because his buddy in the neighborhood has one...:sad2:

Stay warm over there-I saw the weather about the snow-makes me miss skiing in NM. Be careful and I'll send you a hot cup of coffee.

Hey, thanks for your help with the swim cap! I saw the sites you listed--didn't like the eBay one, but I think the Oleander one is where I got it! Had to convert to pounds, but that was OK.

PT went well--Charlie worked on my shin and it feels much much better. I went to the lab and had my bloodwork done, and got to do my grocery shopping with no problem. I also went to Hallmark and got all the cards I need. Now I am home for the day and ready to relax.

As for that dirty 4 letter S word (SN*W), y'all can keep it! I hate the stuff!

The key word there is SOME.

Gotta laugh, DH is from Ohio. We get grief from his brothers/family about the heat during the summer but, during this time of the year, he tells them...."You don't have to shovel sunshine"

I do love snow, it's beautiful and fun...maybe because I only get to 'visit' it every other year.
I will just keep warm thoughts for my friends in the cold.

Wendy, glad you are feeling better and got out the the store. I always feel happy when I know I've got stuff in the house.

So happy you got your DD her gift....that is the best part of Christmas:santa:.......getting something you know they will love. What's a few Pounds Sterling eh?

I'm off to buy DD's teachers gifts online.....:cool2:

I hope I don't get kicked off the thread...no decorating here yet...pumpkins still out front. I want to get the swags up before I go but not sure...raining today. I did take Pat's Mickey turkey off him but didn't put another one on yet. Santa or ornament? I know he'll have to have some new ones. I would love to find the ice cream one but don't know if Disney has them in the parks.

I'm still a NO Crocker! :rotfl:

I blame spelling on bad typing! :confused3 I didn't notice anything misspelled!!! ;)

None of that S word until I get back from FL. One Feb I came back and could not get in the driveway because of the snow/ice storm.

It's cooler in Orlando. My friend said to amke sure I throw in an extras pair of long pants. Rain on Thurs when we go to Epcot. The 50's probably won't feel that cold to us but it is to them.

Speaking of finding things...I found my ATM card...after I got the new one. To make matters worse, it was in the change purse in my purse! I know I had looked there but I was looking for a blue card and it was white on the back! i hope I am not going downhill that quickly.

Good evening all. 11/29~ I heard from Pikester last night. She called while sitting by the pool. DS8 was swimming and DS12 was picking on him. Sounds normal to me :lmao:. They had left their motel around 8:00am to go to "POP" to see if they could get their keys to the parks. They were really surprised that they could check in right away. I will keep you posted.

Chat later.

Hey Sukie---You are doing a great job with the updates. Sounds like they had a great trip down. If they could get in the POP that early, maybe the parks will not be too busy. My friend said the week before Tday was not busy.

Hello! I spend today working on chore lists for all my kids. DH and I have decided that there is no reason for us to do all the stuff in this house. And with it being so much bigger than the old place, there is so much more to do. Instead of their usual 10 minutes of chores, they will now have about 30 minutes of chores. Weekends, they will end up with a little more.

My oldest DD has decided to become a vegetarian. It's been 2 weeks and she's still going strong. I've been working with her to learn some vegetarian meals. We just made her vegetarian chili yesterday and over the weekend, I'm going to teach her how to make a big pan of lasagna so she can freeze servings for herself for when we have a hamburgers, etc for dinner.

whgrn, congrats on finding the swimming cap. I really need to get my Christmas shopping done. I am just so far behind this year.

Sukie, thanks for the updates on Pikester. If they were swimming, the weather must be nice right now. Tell her I said hi the next time you hear from her.

D&DDisney, I will give you that those regular crocs clogs are some fugly shoes. I won't wear those either but they do have some cute little sandals. :rolleyes1

And y'all better stop saying that "s" word. I am loving the fact that it has been pretty nice so far for the end of November.

M&N & marie, hope you both have wonderful trips.

It can sn*w all it wants to, as long as it doesn't stick!

JOCA be VERY careful with DD. Make sure she has blood work every few months to check her levels of protein, etc. Watch to see that she gets plenty of protein from cheese, eggs, beans, etc. My niece had been a vegetarian for over a year and had to stop a couple weeks ago because her labs were so messed up. And she has been VERY careful about what she eats! I just think that the teen years are so important for growing that it isn't the best time for these big changes. Apparently my neice now has "no immune system", leaving her highly susceptible to viruses. And the swine flu has hit their city hard, with hospitals overflowing and ICUs filled. I just pray she will be OK. Hope you don't mind the unsolicited advise, but I'd hate to see your DD have similar problems.

Sukie, thanks for the Pikester updates! sounds like they are having fun.

Thanks for the advice whgrn. While she has decided to become a vegetarian, she has decided that she will still eat fish/seafood. And we've had long talks about how she will not just be able to skip whatever meat I am serving and fill up on the side/veggie part of the meal. I'll keep a close eye on her well being and if it affects her in a bad way (such as it did your niece), she will have to change her diet.

Just had to come and wish M&N and Marie a safe and fun trip!!:yay: I head back to work tomorrow and not sure when I'll get back. I am so excited for you both! :dance3:

Maire - I still hope we can meet up at the airport. Fingers crossed! Also hope that you haven't taken my sarcastic humor to heart. I just love having fun with y'all!;)

Sukie - Thanks again for the updates. Tell Pikester we hope they are having a great time!

Bopsmom- I love snow too - in small amounts. Probably would appreciate it more if I didn't have it for a few seasons. The last 2 years have been awful as far as snow storms go. Great cuz we get a lot of snow days off of school but heck to drive & function in.
Only 19 more days!!!!!!:woohoo:

JOCA - I like your chore list idea. Have been trying to get the boys to help out more around the house. They have sticker charts and I told them if they fill them they will get X$ for spending money on the trip. That will be the ONLY money they get so it is up to them as to how much spending money they earn. (within reason of course) So far I don't have to worry about going broke.

M&N - When you get down to Orlando you must warm up the temps. Although I have been known to wear shorts in the 50s I would much rather have some 70s or 80s.
Glad you found your ATM card. :thumbsup2

Tomorrow, Tomorrow, I'm leaving tomorrow! and Marie is too!
