TKers Take the Fifth!

Howdy girls! I am finally feeling human again!!!!! No headache this morning or tummy ache and only a hint of swelling on my poor sunburnt face. (Apparently, my sun sensitivity was increased from the meds. After 4 hours outside at our church function I came home with a severe sunburn. I have never in my life swollen up like that even after having been outside in the sun all day.) Gotta snap myself into shape cause we only have 3 weeks til we head to WDW!

I had to get back here and post after Wendy's mere mention of of bringing home an unexpected souvenir if I stopped taking BCP. Bite your tongue girl! :scared1: I am much too old for that and 2 is my absolute limit!
Glad to hear that the new meds are giving you relief from your new knee pain.
No more diet pills for me! Looks like I will just remain fat and sassy. Actually, I went ahead and stopped all 3 prescriptions. Apparently, I do not tolerate medicines very well because this is the second time I have gotten sicker from meds than I was from the original problem.
DS is now 18. Things were so much simpler before! I have no idea why it would take 8 weeks for a new driver's license. It is a mute point now anyway. He failed the parallel parking test. I told DH that they needed to borrow someone's tiny little car before they even went but of course they never listen to me! His truck is a huge 4 wheel drive extended cab pickup that I doubt any of us could parallel park. Anyway, they applied for the photo id so now we just wait to see if it gets here in time or if he gets to go through the whole pat down process at the airport.

D&D, I am so sorry to here that your puppy dog is not doing well. It is too darn bad that our pets can't live as long as we do. I hope the dark cloud hovering over your house moves on soon! Glad you got to go pee! :lmao:

LITC, my goodness time goes by so fast! So hard to believe little Walter is already 2 months. Poor baby getting those nasty shots!

M&N, the birdies you are seeing at your feeder are probably the ones who have given up on me feeding them! I have really slacked off this year cause I am so tired of feeding all the raccoons. Generally, I have tons of cardinals and about 4 squirrels that I keep nice and fat.
I hope your sniffles and sore throat don't get any worse!

Pikester, glad you and Sukie had a good shopping trip. Are you getting packed yet? Crossing my fingers that everyone stays healthy for your trip!

Ev, glad you are feeling better!

disney54us, congrats on the cruise!

Shmu, wonderful to hear that Debbie enjoyed her goodies!

DL55, happy anniversary! Have a great camping trip!

JOCA, hope you have gotten a chance to rest and are enjoying the new place.

Looks like I missed getting to say bon voyage to Kitty. I hope she is having a good time on her trip.

Hello to everyone else out there!

mariezp Poor DS not passing the test. I couldn't pass parallel parking in a tiny car much less in an extended cab pickup. :rotfl2: Glad you are feeling better. Must be well for your trip. :goodvibes

Ahhh, parallel parking. The bane of every new driver's existence! I had a heck of a time with it, but passed by the skin of my teeth. Then I went to college. You wanted to park, you HAD to parallel park. I got lots of practice. I can now parallel park a tank in a space the size of a Yugo.

I used to be able to parallel park. I lived in the city and had to park on the street...but now...forget it! It's a skill you have to keep doing to be able to do it! :rotfl:

Mom got 2 shots and some x-rays today. Tell Baby Walter she didn't cry either! :rotfl:

At least with me being the last poster, I saw my typing mistake before anyone else! :rotfl:
Guess I'll go out into the 'world' and see what's new on the CB.

saving M&N from killing the TKers...

Thanks...

Pikester didn't have anything to say in the next post! Is she telling us that's what she's doing or just encouraging Wendy? I think if sit ups were just moving arms, I could do them. :rotfl:

It's a sad time here for me!

It's bad enough to kill the TKer thread (Wendy did save me yesterday)

But now I have discovered that I am a DOUBLE TKer!

I post on the Bump thread...I posted on the 5th...no one else posted until I did again on the 9th! And no one else has posted since!

What should I do? Do I chance it and save myself???? Or should I just accept that I've double killed the Bump thread?

Morning M:

Can't have you killing all the threads now can we!

Today I have DS home...he's coughing so hard he throws up. Yuck! and DH is up seeing the doctor because he can't breath. Boy I'll be glad when we are finally through with this thing.

It's a beautiful day today...I'm hoping DH is home before 11 because I'd like to go down to the cenotaph for the service.

Hope everyone is well & that you folks on the east coast aren't getting too wet.

TTYL

Got this in an email today:

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

'Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you ?
Have you always turned the other cheek ?
To My Church have you been true?'

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
'No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

'Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell.'

Oh Ev, what a load you're carrying! Hope DS and DH both are feeling better fast, and I hope YOU don't catch it from them!

thanks for sharing that beautiful poem.

God Bless our Veterans, and God Bless the USA!! (and Canada and our other allies as well)

DS8's school had a Veteran's Day assembly yesterday. I totally embarrassed myself when they sang

God Bless The USA
by Lee Greenwood

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.
That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
And I’m proud to be and American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,

It made me tear up more then usual because we had some soldiers from our town on the stage who spoke about what being a Veteran meant to them.

You probably missed it 'cause you were in hospital but I had the flu first and gave it to him...;)

At least I don't have to stand in line for the shot now!!

Oh, good gussie, I can't hear that song without bawling my eyes out! Kinda like Amazing Grace or Taps played on bagpipes. And having the Vets there would seal the deal for certain.

Ev, guess I did miss that, sorry. At least you have it behind you! And not needing the shot is a bonus!

Well, I had Pain and Torture this morning with Charlie, the PT I've used for several years. I love this guy--trust him completely. Well, let me tell you, he really beat me up! I was crying Uncle more than once. He stretched my knee, he pounded out the scar tissue and adhesions in my calf and my thigh and my butt. He used the electric stimulus machine that makes me sizzle. We chatted through the whole ordeal, and when I got up to leave I felt GREAT!!!! Good enough to go for a short visit to the grocery store! This is the first I've been out since I got home, so it was awesome. We got some good deals too--butter for $1.49 a pound, clementines for $3.99 a box (and they're GOOD, too!), and Lorie even got a free rotisserie chicken with my shoppers points. (Heck, I've got over 85,000 of them just sitting there--may as well use them). Plus, I walked past 2 shelves and found stuff I forgot or didn't know I needed. (Cream cheese, and some yummy bruschetta made without onions, the way I like it!) Everything I got was in about 3 aisles, so it wasn't much walking. came home, took my Oxycontin right on time, had lunch, and I am feeling fab. Yay!!! This may be the day I've "turned the corner".

See you are a vet too!

I seem to be tearing up a lot lately. That Ft Hood ceremony was just a tear jerker..even just watching the soldiers going past their pics and stopping and giving that slow salute. A teacher that has battled cancer for years and is such a positive person doesn't have much longer to live. Ev's poem and then God Bless the USA...So much wrong with this world but so much more to remember to be thankful for...

Here I go again...talking to myself!
I read a rumor that the neat arch lights at EPCOT were not going to be put up this year. I forget what they are really called. They were so pretty.
