Marie, my condolences on your loss, and on your son's loss as well. Hope there isn't a 3rd death coming along.

M&N, I laughed when you said you didn't want to lose your ATM card by carrying it around, so NOW YOU LOST IT!:lmao: Kind of like when I hide something so well I can't find it when I need it!

JOCA, didn't realize Taylor was a local to you--somehow I thought she was a southern girl. My DD just adores her.

I've come to the conclusion that my knee will allow me 8.5 hours in bed at night and that's it. Then, even if I've taken pain meds, it will start to bother me so I must get up. Just crazy!

DS is on a roll. In just 24 hours, he has 1) lost his glasses, 2) misplaced his band bag so he refused to go to band this AM, 3) lied to me about finishing an assigned book (said he had 5 minutes worth to go, but was on page 25/200 in reality!), and 4) cursed out his father.:scared1: Needless to say he will be going to bed at 8 pm tonite and all priveleges have been removed. I also told him every night at 8pm he will stop what he is doing, take his meds, brush his teeth, put on his PJs, make his lunch for the next day, and gather everything he needs for school. (this will be done at 7 pm tonite due to the early bedtime). And I told him if he doesn't find his ($400) glasses, he will get no allowance until they are paid for AND be grounded until Christmas. (at $6 a week, that will be over a YEAR without allowance!) Oh, and the clincher, which made me laugh my head off, was that his father asked the kids this morning if they are going to the 7th and 8th grade Canteen tomorrow night. First I've heard of it! No one has given me a permission slip to sign or asked for the $$. So obviously they will not be going (DD doesn't really want to go anyway, especially if her brother goes). Nice to see their irresponsibility is impacting THEM for a change!

Ahhhhh, I love my kids, I love my kids, I love my kids, I love....

Sending prayers to Pepper23 and those in way of the storm. Saw on the Weather Channel that VA Beach is getting hit hard.

Hey Wendy. I didn't read...just posted and then read. That's me--stupid things happen even if I try and avoid them! I'm trying to learn ways to compensate those old age problems like memory loss but not sure if I ever will. It sound like your new knee does not need as much sleep as your other, might I say, aging, parts! :rotfl: s for the kids---refer to your thankful list! They do keep you on your toes and keep you from getting bored!

Marie--I do pray things will go well today...

Wow, so much going on here.
Hugs to everyone going through trials.

Wendy--loved your Thankful list. Nice to stop and remember.

Those of you on facebook have read what happened the other day but coming over here to share with those not on there while I have a little time.

My DD works at a mall in a clothing store. There are 2 guys that work in a kiosk booth right outside the store DD works in. They are in there 30's. DD is 17. She says they stare at all the employee girls all day making them feel very uncomfortable. Everytime DD comes into work, one paticular guy always looks at DD inappropriately. Now he is waiting for her outside when she has to take the trash out and follows her. The other night he made some seductive comments to her. She was shaking and crying histerically when she came home saying, "I do not want to lose my virginity to a 30 year old." We are worried this guy may try something. He has become a stalker of my DD.

We will be driving her into work and walking with her and DH will be walking with her to take the trash out until she quits. I was so mad the other night I could not see straight. There are no charges that we could make because he has not physically touched her. And we are going to make sure that NEVER happens.

We reported him yesterday and found out he has a bad history. hmmmm. Grrrr. Securtiy was very thankful that DD took the time to do a write up on him because they are trying to get rid of him and this will help.

All our young ladies need special prayers for the horrible world they are having to deal with. It makes me sick to my stomach.

So in our moment of giving thanks. I am thankful nothing worse happened to my DD. Friday night when we pick her up from work DH and I will probably run into this jerk of a guy. I'm sure my DH will have plenty of words to share with him.

Read someone is dealing with H1N1? So sorry. I have a friend whose daughter (2) has been dealing with that. Yucky stuff. My hands are raw from all the washing I give them.

School is going well. Taking an exceptional children's class right now and LOVING it. THinking about specializing in that once I finish this degree. My ticker below is moving a little.

Big Hugs to all. THanks again for the ornaments for my friend Debbie. She still chokes up about it when she mentions it.

Everyone stay well, get well, rest up.

Oh, M&N, I have a teary eyed problem lately too. I cry very easily anyway but lately it seems there is just so much despair. Today I have chosen to only look at the positive. (So, I guess that means I'm not allowed to pay bills. :rotfl2:Nothing positive there.)

I'll check in again soon.

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Happy Thursday all:

Another beautiful sunny day here today...just DH and DS home sick today. It's been over 2 weeks since I had the house to myself!

Marie ~ so sorry to hear about your Uncle

Shmu ~ That's terrible about your DD...she should be safe at her job!

OK, I know I'm 2 weeks early, but I am going to start the "What I am Thankful For" list:

1. My health--it's far from perfect, but its better than it was, and so much better than some folks. I don't have cancer or any horrible disease, I'm strong, and my knee WILL eventually heal and I'll be up and running again.

2. My family--my kids drive me batty most of the time, but I can't imagine life without them--I love them more than life itself. My parents, praise God, are still with me and in decent health, and they are wonderful people with whom I am blessed to have a great relationship. I have the best sister in the world, and my brother isn't bad either. I've got some other pretty cool relatives too.

3. My friends--starting with my BFF of 41 years, who is the best friend anyone could ever ask for. And my other girlfriends, including of course the TKers who make me laugh and cry and are as "real" as any friends I have ever had, often moreso.

4. My country--I am so blessed to live in the USA, the greatest country in the world (sorry Ev, I'm a bit biased...), where I still have FREEDOM and where we have so much that we have enough to share. This includes our military--past, present and future--and even our messed up government, which is still better than most of the world has to put up with (wow, can you believe *I* said that?!?!)

5. OK, (I'm gonna say it and if I get banned, so be it, but see #4 and you'll know why) for my God--who gets me through every day, every hour, every minute; who gave me life, who gives me hope and who loves me for my imperfect self.

Well, that was in no particular order, and it's by no means exhaustive, but I was just sitting her feeling really grateful and wanted to put my thoughts in writing. I think I'll go add this to my blog...

That's OK...I'm very partial to where I live as well...definitely something I'm thankful for.

Hope everyone has a great day.

It's a sad time here for me!

It's bad enough to kill the TKer thread (Wendy did save me yesterday)

But now I have discovered that I am a DOUBLE TKer!

I post on the Bump thread...I posted on the 5th...no one else posted until I did again on the 9th! And no one else has posted since!

What should I do? Do I chance it and save myself???? Or should I just accept that I've double killed the Bump thread?

Will have to head over there so we can keep it alive together.

Well DH is back from the hospital...he has H1N1...BIG surprise there!!
So sorry your house is getting hit hard lately. Hope he feels better soon. Take care of him cuz that stuff is nasty on the lungs.

Hi! Not sure when the last time it was I checked in here. I've just been so busy with all this moving stuff. And it has made me so tired.
Moving can be tough. Make sure you get some rest so you don't get sick.
Maybe you have a little "souvineer" that Marie is afraid of getting at WDW. ;)

Tonight I am especially feeling thankful for good health, as well. One of my uncles passed away from an aneurysm yesterday. Today my son found out that one of the guys from his Jui-Jitsu school died. He was only 41 and died of a heart attach. It was horrible. They found him in a swimming pool at a local gym. I am just praying that there is not a third death coming next.
:grouphug: So sorry to hear about your losses.

That Veterans poem was beautiful. :sad1: Now I have tears too.

Today I am thankful...

That my DH made it through another round of lay-offs at work yesterday. And that I am married to my best friend.

That my puppy is doing better and eating her food today.

That I have children to enjoy even on those days when they drive me crazy.

For my TKer friends

That the sun is shinning

That I am able to go grocery shopping and put food on the table.

For my PT job and for the children we serve.

For my freedom and those who have fought for it.

Was grocery shopping at Wal-Mart today and found costumes for next year on sale - 90% OFF ---- Paid 1.40 a piece for 3 costumes!!!!!!! Sweet!!!!

OMG Shmu, how horrible for your DD!!!! I'm so glad she reported this guy and told you and DH about him. I hope they fire him and that he stays away from her. What a sicko!! I somehow missed all that on FB, so I'm glad you shared it here. Hugs to DD.

D&D I loved your thankful list too! You are truly blessed to be married to your best friend. I think that's where I went wrong, among other things, in my marriage. He was never really my friend. and certainly not my best friend. Also very happy to hear your doggie is doing better!!:cool1:

My doggie is HOME!!!! He's been gone since the day before surgery, and since we are getting our pool redone I didn't want to risk him coming home and falling in the 8 foot hole. But I just couldn't stand it anymore having him gone. I was hoping the girl would bring him to me tomorrow, but she was able to give him a bath and bring him home today!!! YAY!!!! My baby is back! He has not left my side since he returned an hour ago. Which made PT kinda interesting...

OK I'm gonna start banging my head against the nearest wall.

Doctor's office called. The wonderful nurse was calling to check to see how DH was doing. She was looking at his x-ray from yesterday and was wondering what type of antibiotic he was on since he appears to have pneumonia!!! I told her that pneumonia hadn't even been mentioned by the doc in emerg and that he was sent home to drink fluids, rest and take pain killers. So now he's on some extra strong antibiotic once a day for the next 7 days. We have our trip to Great Wolf Lodge on Wed...and I'm just waiting for DS to come down with it!! I can't believe everyone else has had it and he's still only got a cough!! (quick knock on wood!) D&D ~ your right I'm gonna need to bleach bomb this place!!

OK vent done...thanks for listening!

Oh boy Ev. Sounds like loads of fun. Poor you. Hope DS doesn't get it!

I have my mask on....I am very thankful that I have not been sick.
I am going to the dr tomorrow because I have been having ear problems. It comes and goes but it's been bad for a week. Everything sounds muffled. It's not painful but it does hurt sometimes if I poke at it...so I don't poke! I think it's some trapped water---maybe an infection. Whatever---it's not that bad but getting on a plane in 3 weeks might not be good. I was on hold for 10 min to make the appointment. I go to a medical center. I'm getting the fav dr of my friends. I could not get him for a regular because he's always booked. He's the dr that is on call for emergencies tomorrow so I may have to wait a while. I said that would be no problem...I'm not an emergency. While I was on hold, they said that if you were calling for the seasonal flu shot, they had a waiting list for the regular patients of NORLANCO and you could be put on that. I'm glad I had mine.

I do worry about young people these days. That guy could turn mean if he's fired. I would want to make sure my daughter had someone with her all the time---and even then if it's just another girl, I would worry. I would hope that the managers of her store would take this as a warning and not have the girls take the trash out alone. You can never be too careful.

I was not ignored! I posted on the 1 mouse ...thread that I used a paper bag to put my mouse trap in so I can just throw it away like that and someone thought that was a good idea.

WOW! I was not ignored! I'm still not going to remove my Thread Killer banner...

I'm glad Baby Walter did good at the dr. He is very brave...3 shots the same day! :scared1: I'm sure that earned him extra kisses! Has he gained much yet? Is he eating better?

Hi JO...Night JO!

He is still finicky with eating, but he gained lots of weight, about 3 in the last month!! :lovestruc

Howdy girls! I am finally feeling human again!!!!! No headache this morning or tummy ache and only a hint of swelling on my poor sunburnt face. (Apparently, my sun sensitivity was increased from the meds. After 4 hours outside at our church function I came home with a severe sunburn. I have never in my life swollen up like that even after having been outside in the sun all day.) Gotta snap myself into shape cause we only have 3 weeks til we head to WDW!

I had to get back here and post after Wendy's mere mention of of bringing home an unexpected souvenir if I stopped taking BCP. Bite your tongue girl! :scared1: I am much too old for that and 2 is my absolute limit!
Glad to hear that the new meds are giving you relief from your new knee pain.
No more diet pills for me! Looks like I will just remain fat and sassy. Actually, I went ahead and stopped all 3 prescriptions. Apparently, I do not tolerate medicines very well because this is the second time I have gotten sicker from meds than I was from the original problem.
DS is now 18. Things were so much simpler before! I have no idea why it would take 8 weeks for a new driver's license. It is a mute point now anyway. He failed the parallel parking test. I told DH that they needed to borrow someone's tiny little car before they even went but of course they never listen to me! His truck is a huge 4 wheel drive extended cab pickup that I doubt any of us could parallel park. Anyway, they applied for the photo id so now we just wait to see if it gets here in time or if he gets to go through the whole pat down process at the airport.

D&D, I am so sorry to here that your puppy dog is not doing well. It is too darn bad that our pets can't live as long as we do. I hope the dark cloud hovering over your house moves on soon! Glad you got to go pee! :lmao:

LITC, my goodness time goes by so fast! So hard to believe little Walter is already 2 months. Poor baby getting those nasty shots!

M&N, the birdies you are seeing at your feeder are probably the ones who have given up on me feeding them! I have really slacked off this year cause I am so tired of feeding all the raccoons. Generally, I have tons of cardinals and about 4 squirrels that I keep nice and fat.
I hope your sniffles and sore throat don't get any worse!

Pikester, glad you and Sukie had a good shopping trip. Are you getting packed yet? Crossing my fingers that everyone stays healthy for your trip!

Ev, glad you are feeling better!

disney54us, congrats on the cruise!

Shmu, wonderful to hear that Debbie enjoyed her goodies!

DL55, happy anniversary! Have a great camping trip!

JOCA, hope you have gotten a chance to rest and are enjoying the new place.

Looks like I missed getting to say bon voyage to Kitty. I hope she is having a good time on her trip.

Hello to everyone else out there!

Marie --so glad you are feeling better.

I used to be able to parallel park. I lived in the city and had to park on the street...but now...forget it! It's a skill you have to keep doing to be able to do it! :rotfl:

Mom got 2 shots and some x-rays today. Tell Baby Walter she didn't cry either! :rotfl:

M&N -- Baby Walter is proud of mom!!

Morning M:

Can't have you killing all the threads now can we!

Today I have DS home...he's coughing so hard he throws up. Yuck! and DH is up seeing the doctor because he can't breath. Boy I'll be glad when we are finally through with this thing.

It's a beautiful day today...I'm hoping DH is home before 11 because I'd like to go down to the cenotaph for the service.

Hope everyone is well & that you folks on the east coast aren't getting too wet.

TTYL

Hey Ev, sorry to hear about the sickness.

Well DH is back from the hospital...he has H1N1...BIG surprise there!!

Ya'll have some great list of things to be thankful for. I need to get started on mine but for a quick list before I head to bed tonight...

I am thankful that I feel so much better today than I have for the past few weeks.
I am thankful for my online friends.
I am thankful for my home, my family, my country and the love of God.

Marie so awful!!

Good evening ladies!

Thought I would hang out on here until 9PM when CSI comes on.

marie:  for your family. It's sad when anyone passes but it always seems worse when it's someone young.---My DH asked me about you yesterday. He wanted to know how my friend's, that I am suppose to meet when we are at Disney, trip plans were coming. I told him about your DS needing an ID but that you had it covered. Don't forget that we still need to exchange contact information. As of now my touring schedule is the same one that I posted on my TR thread so meeting at EP still works for me.

whgrn: Those darn kids can never seem to give us Moms a break! If it's not one it's the other one.

Shmu: That is just too Freaky about that creep!

M&N: I hope your ear feels better soon.

D&D:Yay for your puppy doing better!

BKMETV: What the Heck! They didn't even tell your DH that he had pneumonia!

LITC: Yay for Walter gaining weight!

Not much going on around here today. DS12 broke his glasses on Tuesday and when I brought them in to be fixed I was told that I would get a call on Thursday to come get the new ones. Didn't hear a thing today. If they don't call by tomorrow afternoon I'll be making a phone call to them.

DH and I are talking his parents out to dinner tomorrow night for their birthdays. I made ressies for 5:30PM so we can eat and then get everyone back home early. DH's Dad has some health issues so getting out can be a strain on him but he really likes getting out of the house for something other than Drs. appts.

Sukie wanted me to pass along a Hello. Her computer has been acting up so she hasn't been able to get on here.

That little Walter is doing great gaining those 3 lbs. Now why can't they say that about us! :rotfl: We need a picture...We won't recognize him if you don't keep posting them.

I say a little baby boy at lunch today and wished he was Walter so I could hug him. Mommie was shaking a toy in his face and he was chewing on his thumb...I said I think he likes his thumb better and mommie said he does.

Hi Sukie...hope the hobbling is better.

Hi. I had to go buy my youngest daughter 5 new pairs of pants today. All of a sudden she just had this huge growth spurt and most of all her pants had gotten too short. And I can't pass her older sisters pants down to her because my youngest needs super slims in her pants. Thankfully, JC Penny had some on clearance that have the adjustable waistband.

marie, hugs to you and your son during this sad time. I'll be keeping you all my prayers.

LITC, it seems your little guy is growing like crazy. I hope you post more pictures soon. Seeing his pictures as he grows brings back such wonderful memories of my kids.

Shmu, that is so horrible about that "guy" and I use that term loosely. And give your daughter a big hug for speaking up about what he was doing. She just may have saved some other young woman from being harassed by him. She is one brave woman.

Disney54us, I don't think we've met but congrats on the cruise.

Ev, I hope your husband gets better soon. That's really crappy that they didn't figure out what was wrong while he was there.
