Good morning ladies! Seems I lost my original post...nothing really substantial really. Just planning on enjoying the warmer weather (warm being 40s, but I'll take it) and airing out the house. Going to get the bedding out and on the line, despite the chilly weather.

Stayed up last night to watch Caprica and 20/20. All week they've been promoting the Jaycee Duggard story, but really is was only 10 minutes and everything was on the commercials anyway.

I got the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD...can't believe I didn't have it already. Its the kind of thing I can put on and still be productive today.

Sorry I missed you ladies last night. No one was out to play yesterday afternoon so I gave up on you!

I got that chocolate bit SPecial K cereal and I don't like it at all. Its basically just crushed up Hershey bar in flakes. I much prefer my red berry K. That's what I get for trying to branch out and try something new. But there's always coffee. Yum!

Everyone must be enjoying their weekend. I've taken an allergy pill to see if I will feel better. My eyes are all icky. It makes it difficult to read. Dh went to Home Depot again. I'm going to have to hide the car keys. He has finished the deck except for a protective coat of something. It looks okay..mostly...just a few weird spots. He's almost through putting up new gutters too. Do you think it's strange that a gutter ends before the roof does? :sad2: I dread DIY projects.

Afternoon DL55...how you feeling? Did the allergy pill help?

I'm absolutely useless when it comes to home renovation. And I hate Home Depot...its just so big in there! I've been trying to convince them to put some sort of cafe in there...it takes so long to find anything, I'm practically hypoglycemic by the time I reach check-out.

At least DH is taking advantage of good weather and taking the initiative to repair things. As for gutters...I know I have some, just have no idea where they are!

Evening!

Had a totally boring day. REally did nothing but some cleaning. The kitchen is spotless. DD14 cleaned the whole living room today including the floors. DD8 did most of the bathroom.

Our Home Depot is right next to Walmart so when DH decides to go, I just detour into Walmart. DH could spend hours in there. The only use I have to HOme Depot is to snag a few Mickey paint chips. :rotfl:

Hi everybody! (Said in Dr. Nick's voice from the Simpsons)

The only reason I have to go into HD is for the big jug of Simple Green (I get the lemon scent) and the foaming window cleaner both of which I can't find anywhere else.

I had big ideas to get lots of laundry done and clean Nathan's room and I only did one load that is still sitting in the machine.

Evening ladies...I did manage to get mounds and mounds of laundry done. Has anyone used the Bounty Dryer bar? I put one in today, but honestly, I have no idea what its supposed to do or how I'm supposed to use it. I think (maybe) that its supposed to replace dryer sheets? The box doesn't really specify what its function is...so I used it both with a dryer sheet. I don't think that's right, but if its not, so I have even less static cling?

I actually have a Home Depot visit in my future...and I'm bringing snacks. I have to get a new toilet seat and some shower sealant. Don't ask. I used the Magic eraser a little too vigorously and now I need to fix my shower. That little white sponge is hard core!

I love the Magic Eraser sponges. I use them so often with the girls and all their art projects. Makes clean up so quick.

For laundry, we've been using the Purex 3 in 1 laundry sheets lately. They seem to be more expensive but when you add up the prices for everything separately, it really isn't. And they are just so convenient.

I've used the ME before and I didn't like that they left a residue on things. Maybe I wasn't using it right.

The dryer bar is to replace the dryer sheet. I guess it's suppose to save you from having the sheet hanging out of the bottom of your pant leg.

Thanks for the great tip! I have a few coupons for the Purex, I'll have to give it a try. I will sing the praises for Tide's Stain Release, the liquid stuff in the orange bottle. I actually home tested it last year and I love that stuff. It gets out all the stuck in, dried up, gooey stuff that I had given up on. My tip is NOT to use the cap to measure....you don't need nearly that much. I just dump in a little bit and its ready to go. It gets everything out!

I was so excited a few weeks ago to score a new pot set...and now I don't want to use them! I know its silly, but once I put them to use, then its all over. They won't be pretty anymore. I hate the idea of going through the old pots and figuring out what to toss and what to donate too. I've already separated the "bad" metal utensils from the "good" wooden stuff.

I figure these Purex sheets will come in handy while we are vacation. We usually do a couple of loads of laundry while there. We are usually gone for 9 days and with all of us, we would have to take an insane amount of clothes. Doing a little laundry makes things more manageable.

I need to start buying new pots and pans. I got rid of a lot when we moved and I haven't gotten around to replacing them.

For some reason, a lot of places are having their pot sets on clearance. Maybe something to do with spring cleaning? The set I got are Martha Stewart from Macys. Its exactly the same set that's out now, except its in last year's box. I'm so excited...I've never had a full matching set before. I usually pick up pieces here and there either at TJ Maxx or Marshalls. I like the good stuff but can't afford it.

When BF and I stayed at the time share, we always do laundry right before we come back. There's nothing more depressing than coming back from a great vacation and having to do laundry.

We still have to do laundry when we get back just not as much. But every little bit counts.

Our old place didn't have much storage so I never bought a lot of pots and pans. Now I have some cabinets that are empty. But there are so many things I want to buy that I can't decide what to buy. And I need to buy a new microwave. Ours works fine except for the middle row of numbers on the keypad.

Good morning ladies...its gonna be a warm one today! Woo-hoo!

My mother is having some issues over in the Phils. She called me last night coz her Visa has been denied there. So I called the Visa company and straightened it out...or so I thought. She called me this morning, she had the same issue again. So I tried to call Visa and their customer service doesn't open until 11am! Weird.

Oh, my microwave issues. I have an antique...it was one of the very first microwaves made. My parents paid over $1000 for it back in the early 80's...the thing has to be 25 years old. I'm sure there are some radiation issues with it by now, but its more a matter of principal at this point. I want to see just how far old micro will go. Maybe I'll donate it to the Smithsonian one day. I know once he kicks it and I buy a new microwave, the new one will only last 3 months and die. They just don't make quality anymore.

Going out to brunch with my brother and his family. Talk to you later...unless there's a race on today?

Morning!

It looks to be a beautiful day out there already. The sun is shining and it's already 44* out there. I might be able to kick the kids out of the house a little bit later so I can get some more cleaning done. It's just so much easier when they are out and I don't have to listen to them arguing.

MK, that's strange about Visa not opening until 11am. I had always thought credit card companies would have someone on staff 24 hours for such things.

Our microwave is only about 2 years old. Makes me mad that we have to get a new one already. I really don't have to, ours still works fine except for the number thing but it's still a major pain in the butt.

We are taking the kids out to see Alice In Wonderland this afternoon. They've been up since 9am asking if it's time to go yet. It's going to be a long couple of hours until we leave.

JOCA...I was going to ask if you guys had seen Alice. I look forward to finding out what you think...I may convince myself to go see it if I can get over how creepy JD looks!

GEEK ALERT! If any of you have little boys or girls that are into superheroes, Amazon has the omnibus for $8.24. They're basically big hardcover bound issues of the earliest comic books. I picked up X-Men, Ironman, Daredevil, and Wolverine for BF and I. These books usually sell for over $100 and are over 1000 pages. They're great work with Stan Lee, who is basically a god in the comic book world. They're great teaching tools about intolerance and discrimination. Yes, my name is MK and I'm a geek.

Good morning !
I think the allergy pill helped a little. At least my eyes feel better.
I think my mom had the original set of pots and pans her entire life. I know I've had mine (Farberware) since my first marriage. So they are 30 yrs old. Gee that sounds old but they seem to be just fine despite my DH's effort to screw them up. :confused3 Frying pans on the other hand seem to get messed up every other year.
Don't get me started on microwaves. :headache: We have a built in micro and oven. The micro doesn't work but to replace it we would have to replace the entire unit. (at least $1000). plus it's only 24" wide so that limits choice or have to have a new cabinet built for the new double oven I prefer. <sigh>

DL55...I'm so glad you're feeling better. I didn't know about those built-ins, wow that's really inconvenient.

Yeah, frying pans have a death sentence around here too.

I just called Visa. Its not me, its them. Their entire system is down, but expected to be up again this afternoon. Still, I'll call again to see if it works...

Did anyone watch "Who Do You think You are?" on Friday? Basically, they take a famous personality and trace their heritage. Friday was Sarah Jessica Parker. Interstingly, her ancestors were involved in the Gold Rush and one was an accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch trials. So amazing...

I was telling BF that its sad b/c of WWII, there's so much of my family's history is lost. Then, strangely, I get an email from a distant relative (we met in Chicago years ago) that she had put our family tree on a website called Geni.com. It goes back a few generations! It was neat to see just how (ahem) prolific my family is...my grandfather was one of 13, my grandmother one of 11! Wow, do I feel like an underachiever. I just have cats.

Wow Kitty...that's so amazing! What a treasure. I would love if someone in my family would do this research. I'm a little lazy.
You're not an underachiever. Think someone needs to trace back the "pet line" in your family. :cat:

I'm a finally feeling a little better from this head cold. Sheesh...this is a doozy!

I guess I am kind-of a "guy" when it comes to Home Depot. I LOVE :cloud9: home improvement stores. Could walk through them for hours just smelling the wood and looking at stuff I want for my house.
Heck, I think they should make a cologne for men that smells like fresh wood. Only problem is they'd probably attract other guys. :rotfl2:
