So now the Space Shuttle has been rescheduled to go off on my birthday. It's fate I tell ya!!!! I just have to go to Florida in 2 weeks - right????

D...can I postpone my birthday and go with you?

Don't get hopes up---it was to go when I was there!

oh M...you must have been horribly disappointed. Whenever I see anything that's actually gone into space, its very humbling and just a teensy bit wacky to think that we shoot it up into space and it works!

Shopping went well. But now I'm a bit paranoid when I go to grocery. I feel like the employees are being especially nice coz they think I'm evaluating them (quite often I am). I was looking at cat food and the manager came into the aisle and was arranging something. I think he was spying on me!

Been doing research on my own area and I had no idea there were so many Buddhist temples around here! I'd love to go for a day visit and try their delicious vegetarian fare. I'll have to call and see if I can schedule a tour. I've been to the local ashram and that's really cool too. Quite often, you'll run into celebrities on a retreat.

Evening Pike! How are things up your way? Did you get any of this crazy weather? How was your day?

I was scared that I was going to blow away! We had our lights flicker a couple of times but am thankful that the power stayed on.

D&D, when you said they postponed the shuttle till Dec 15th, for some reason, I automatically thought next year. Couldn't for the life of me figure out why you would be going in the 2 weeks. Can you tell it's been a long day. :rotfl:

MK, we had that same horrible weather here too. I bet the manager really was spying on you.

M&N, I'm so glad your were able to get an appointment for your mom tomorrow. Tell her I hope she's feels better.

I've been debating about next year's vacation. We were going to go in August but even though I love the heat, nobody else does. So now, we are thinking of going the week after T-day. And we've pretty much decided that we are going to rent a house down there. I found a 6 bedroom for $135 a night for the week after T-day. That's cheaper than us renting 2 value rooms in Disney.

JO--I vote for after T-day! It'll be wonderful! Still warm during the day, cool in the evenings, less crowds, holiday decor! and an entire house to run around in...

Pike! glad that you didn't blow away. Some of the areas around me are without power. There were flood watches all afternoon too. But when I came out of the grocery, it was snowing prettily. Had to stop in the parking lot and just enjoy how pretty it was. Then I hurried to the car coz it was COLD!

We went around that time a couple of years ago but it ending being during a cold snap. We even had to wear coats during the day. I'd like to try FL when the weather is warm down there at that time of year.

The decorations were so beautiful when we went. I cried when they lit the castle. The house part is just a total bonus. I keep thinking about sitting by the private pool and sipping a nice cold drink after a day in the parks.

That sounds awesome! sitting by the pool in Atlantic City, I forgot how much I enjoy just sitting by the pool. I had brought my Kindle and just relaxed. it was wonderful!

I still am amazed even seeing the castle all lit up in pictures. BF and I would definitely like to see the Dancing Lights again. We'd also like to see ICE at Gaylor Palms too. Its definitely our favorite time of year---and even if FLorida is having a cold spell, its definitely warmer than it would be up here!

That's true. No matter what their temps are, it's still warmer than here. I'd be pretty happy with the 60* temps right about now. It's freezing out there right now.

What is ICE? I've seen it mentioned but never really looked at what it is.

ICE from what I've read is a bunch of ice sculptures carved indoors. You can also play in the snow and ice. I guess its a treat for them. This year the sculptures tell the story of Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Have you been to Gaylor Palms? Its pretty cool to visit. The atrium is set up like little pieces of FLorida, like the everglades. I'd like to stay there one day too....

That sounds really cool. But I think I would skip playing in the snow...I don't even do that at home. I think ice sculptures are neat. I can't even imagine the talent it must take to make one.

Never been there. We usually just concentrate on the parks because of the kids. But now that they are getting older, it might be nice to try some other things.

Its really not far at all from the parks. You'll probably pass right by it depending on which exit you take.

We always explore outside the parks, yet there's still so much we haven't seen. Usually Sea World does a good promotion around that time too. I really enjoy Sea World. I'm not much of a swimmer, but I do love those sea creatures. The Believe show with Shamu makes me bawl every time, even if I do risk getting drowned in the first few rows.

We probably have driven right past it. But I'm always so busy looking for the Disney signs that I don't notice anything else.

Sea World is the one place we would like to take the kids. I'll have to look more closely at the dates and when we could leave. I know Curt's always wanted to go to Sea World and I haven't been since I was kid.

Its a nice break from the parks. Much more laid back atmosphere. And some really good park food! And if you go once, you get a second day free. Sometimes they offer a full week free with one day's purchase. THey do have some thrill rides, but we've never tried it.

I know it seems a little expensive, but I recommend the dolphin feeding. Its 7/tray of fish, but you really get to feed and pet those wonderful animals. They also have a park photographers. He got a great pic of BF and I petting a dolphin. It was really special.

We'd like to save up and do Discovery Cove but I"m not really sure if we're DC people yet.

I'm looking at ticket prices right now. I'll spring that one on Curt later.

I've read they have good food. It might be a nice break from cooking at the house.

I won't tell Curt your plans just yet. But that's another plus of going off season. They have a lot of great ticket specials!

I'll have to keep a lookout for some deals and snag one as soon as I see it.

Hey all! I just can NOT seemto get back in the groove, but here are a few little snapshots to keep you all updated.
