M&N, I read about your encounter with the skunk which turned out to be a good thing that I had skunk on the brain because I saw one while out for my walk this morning. I was walking on the side of the road and he was nosing around someone's lawn. Scared the crap out of me! I quickly walked to the otherside of the road and gave him plenty of room. He wasn't scared of me thank goodness.

D&D, we had Chef Boyardee ravioli and biscuits for dinner. Just did not feel like cooking again.

Never had that one. I'm a big fan of the canned meats when I don't feel like cooking.

I have a confession. Our hotel in Hershey was 1 mile from the Hollywood casino. I couldn't sleep so I got up early on my last day and hit the slots at 8am. I didn't hit big, about $75, but I headed back to the Mainstay for breakfast before checking out and heading to the airport.

So I would have been able to go to the casino with you that morning??? Darn.

I had a close encounter with a little black/white critter out back tonight when I went to water the plants. Do baby skunks have a white stripe all the way down their back? This little guy didn't but I did see white and he had a long fuzzy tail that I was hoping he would not turn around and show me! I really was rather close and didn't want to turn and run! The guy who does my yard told me he thought the holes out back were from a skunk and now I believe him. The little guy just stood there and looked at me and sniffed...my mind is going crazy...what should I do? Throw the watering can at him? Thankfully after sniffing several times, he walked away. Thankfully he did not turn his back on me! I was worried...watched his nose sniffing very carefully. I was thinking all the time that I didn't have tomato juice to wash off with! I did not make another trip out back...

Yikes! But don't baby skunks not get their smell until they are adults??

I had chicken Fettuccine Alfredo plus three bread sticks. And I wonder why I gain weight. I did bring half of it home and my DD ate it.

I'm not going to JCP because they goofed up my order. That REALLY limits my local shopping. I have no idea if there is an IKEA store anywhere near (less than a 2 hr drive).

Don't you just love those carbs? I love the breadsticks but don't think they taste the same left over.

JO: Saw this about Newman---Ryan Newman says he was one of the drivers fined by NASCAR for making critical comments about the racing series and hinted that Denny Hamlin was another.
Newman refused to disclose on Friday the amount of the fine or what he said. He implied that it was for comments he made after he crashed at Talladega Superspeedway.
People familiar with the penalties told the AP this week fines were levied because the comments were considered disparaging to the sport. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because NASCAR was not publicly identifying the topflight drivers it fined.
Newman says the penalties are "behind me. It's behind Denny right now." Hamlin was scheduled to meet the media later Friday at Pocono Raceway.
Newman says he was frustrated about the fine "because I didn't understand what it was or why it was."
So how do we find out what he said then?

Has anyone ever have an appliance fix itself? We stopped using our ice maker a couple of years ago because there was a leak and an ice dam would form in the door dispenser. Well a few months ago it started making ice (when some one knocked the bar back down) and there hasn't been a leak. I had been thinking of buying a new fridge but I guess I don't have an excuse anymore.

Hi Sukie ! Thanks for not letting me kill the thread.

It's the 1st of August, time just flies. Next week is the tax free weekend for school supplies. Since I know longer have a child in school I don't keep track when school starts but I suspect it's in a few weeks.

Good morning TKers!

DL55: School starts here August 30th. They go to school for 4 days, have a 4 day weekend, another 4 days and then after that school is on a normal schedule.

I got my sub letter saying that the "right" people at the school said that I did a great job last year so they are inviting me back to sub. Had to fill out what days I am available and send it in. Someone told me that the secretary at the school where I work was being replaced. I really hope not because I liked her and she called me for lots of jobs. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

DH and DS12 are at a mountain bike race today in Maine. They left yesterday morning so that they could camp overnight. The race is in Camden which is 4 hours away from us and there is no way they would have been able to get there this morning so an overnight stay is what had to happen.

DS9 is enjoying not having to fight over the TV and Wii with his brother. I took him to see Cat & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore in 3D. We did a no-no and snuck candy into the theater. DS9 said that he was happy they didn't have security guards there.

Not much else is going on. I need to finish putting away my groceries and I suppose I should get some laundry started.
