TIW vs. AP or DVC discounts?

I've been wondering if it would be worth my while to get TIW. We don't eat at TS more than 1-2 times. We mostly eat in the parks for CS and not at the resorts. I am an AP holder and a DVC member and therefore get 10% at some of the places that would offer 20% for TIW.

So would TIW make any sense for us for the $75 cost. Even if we did 2-3 trips per year? That would be 4-6 TS locations, and some would be only a 10% extra saving because of DVC or AP discount already. I don't think we would save anything off of our CS locations because they are mostly in the parks.

I can understand the value to those that dine a lot or at pricier locations. We don't, typically it's a $100-$120.00 TS meal. Is it going to be worth it for us to buy TIW?

We've had a TIW card every year since it first came out (DDE originally). We did not renew this year.

The food and service at WDW has dropped so significantly in quality, that we rarely dine there anymore. We take our food money offsite now, to places that actually provide good food and excellent service.

So, all that to say no. I'd not bother with the TIW card, especially since you have the other two cards. The only thing a TIW card will do for you that the others don't is provide the discount on alcohol. :confused3

Disney is no longer the place of great dining experiences, so save the extra money and have a good meal elsewhere! :)

If you dine six times at $120, that would come to $720. 10% off that would be $72, but the cost of the card is $75. So not worth it, unless you see yourself changing your dining habits...

the TIW discount is 20% including alcohol. we have had it since it first came out and feel it is worth the 75$. we have found some of the restaurants have gone down, but the signatures are still excellent. and they take the TIW.:yay:

But the TIW card provides a 20% discount. So that would give the OP a savings of $144.00 based on dining 6 times with a bill of $120 each dinner.

If you then subtract the $75 for the card = $69 savings.

Plus, I believe there are more restaurants that accept to TIW card over the DVC discounts and the general AP discounts; providing more choices in dining.

If you spend $375 at locations that take the card (so mainly TS, some resort CS, a few CS in AK still take it I think, and alcoholic beverages at meals or at lounges), you will break even.

If you aren't going to spend at least that much, it doesn't make sense to get it.

a number of restaurants that offer the 10% discount. By focusing on these, the benefit of the TIW is a net 10%. The restaurants that provide discounts for AP and TIW are not the same. TIW has a wider selection but in the resorts, Epcot and DTD there is a pretty wode selection.

Thanks for the input. We will pay more attention this year to where we eat and if the TIW is accepted. Maybe next year we may consider it based on what we find out. But I suspect that without that much in alcohol being purchased, almost none, it won't pay for itself. Maybe someday, but not now... too many kiddies with us to justify buying wine with the meal, for now, it's strictly WHINE with the meal:lmao:.

Anyhoo, I digress... I think I would feel like I need to justify the purchase of the TIW much like we felt about getting the DDP, by eating more TS than we would naturally. I'll gather my data this year and see what the results are and decide next year about the TIW.

BTW, I had forgotten about the CS in AK and at the resorts. This could change things.
