Title companies

The wrong title company can make an already frustrating process so much worse. Next time I will specify the title company or I won’t buy. It’ll be that simple.
Amen to this. Experiencing this now. Lesson learned.

Same! It's been 21 days since my deed was recorded with the comptroller. The title company said the deed was sent to Disney on 5/25 (day after it was recorded), however, when I checked with DVC on the status of my new member account, they said they did not receive my deed until 6/8. I followed up with the title company who reiterated it was sent 5/25 and basically said that it has to go through various departments before it gets to the dept that sets up the new accounts and that 6/8 is not the date DVC received it. Considering it's been 3 weeks since 5/25 and I still don't have my new member emails, I'm leaning towards believing that it was not sent on 5/25 when originally stated. The title company said they would check with Disney on it for me but I still haven't heard back from them.....

Another recommendation for Cammy Smith at Mason Title. We just closed on our sale and she was on the ball, answered promptly and knows her stuff. A great experience.

Cammy at Mason is excellent. No other title company can compare to her and Mason and I now have experience with four.

Magic title is absolutely terrible. I'm the seller on this transaction and the buyers chose Magic. The board sponsor acquired them and I'm hoping for everyone's sake they work to improving their service. However I did hear that board sponsor is mandating buyers use Magic and not Mason. They tried this with me and I told them to cancel the contract. Within 24 hours I was allowed to use Mason. Not sure if this was a one off or if others are being told the same.

I'm currently waiting on closing docs from Magic, so there is definitely a long delay after ROFR is waived.

I didn't put in a preferred title company when making an offer, and my very efficient broker had already drawn up and sent out the contract before I thought to ask. When I did inquire, they were willing to make the change but would require some paperwork changes on their side and draw up new contracts. I chose not to make the jump since things were already in progress. Lesson learned for resales, I'll ask as part of my offer in the future.

I ended up having to use Magical vacations title. They are now owned by the company I am buying our contract with which wasn’t the case with our first contract. Going to keep my fingers crossed!

Since we are on the topic of title companies, does anyone know if they have direct contact with DVC MS or MA? I've been in holding for a while with some questions and it seems the title company has no way to contact DVC outside of email. Does that sound right? I would think as much business as they do with them they would have more direct access...?
