Tips to Manage Memory Maker: AP holders- any ideas?

I have Memory Maker and just came off an annual pass and five trips to Disney World. I now have over 1500 photos in my account.

Downloading these things one by one is kind of a mountain to climb. It takes forever to scroll down to the most recent photos, then when I edit and download one, it takes me all the way back to the top again. :faint:

I have tried to download them as a set, but the system breaks them up into individual sets.

Downloading photos with MM seems very clunky. I have to click a bunch of places to save photos to My Downloads, then I have to go to My Downloads to actually download them.

What is the trick to quickly and efficiently downloading individual photos? Have I missed it, or is MM (Photopass) for passholders with tons of photos just going to be tedious?

Oh man, it's the worst! I feel you, my friend. The only thing I can suggest is breaking it up by sorting them by park and excluding any pictures from those you're friends with on MDE (their pictures will also show up on your AP photopass downloads, reguardless of if they have photopass or not)

Best of luck! :)

Just got APs for DH & I. Disney representative mentioned Memory Maker as part of it, but I forgot to ask her what that meant. Can somebody explain? Do we get free photos from the park?

Yes you can download any pictures taken (while your annual pass is valid) at Disney World for free via the website or App

Yes all the pictures you take in the parks and on rides are included.

I absolutely love all of the photos. I had a ball running around all of the parks and taking pictures everywhere. They come through on MDE within minutes of being taken. I could immediately keep my husband (poor man didn't make most of the trips) updated on what the kids and I were doing.

Trying to sort through them and download them to the computer is another thing.

Feeling your pain here as well. I have a couple of ideas.

First, I would just download all of the photos again, since it is more efficient to do that with the Disney system. From there if you want to store them in a folder with your older photos, you could just export them all from the zipped file to the folder and just don't transfer the ones it tells you that you already have. It was also more efficient for me to just put all of the downloads into a new folder and then just delete out the ones I didn't need (by highlighting big groups at one time).

Good luck. Mine were a bit easier to do this time because they were from Aulani, so the file name on the photos started with AULANI so it was slightly easier to weed through.

Part of my problem is that the hard drive on my computer is almost full. We rode SDMT and HTT many times, so we have a lot of movies as well as photos. I don't think my computer can take a big photo dump.

Although it's a slow process you may want to download and then delete photos from your memory maker account. That way you don't get stuck downloading the same photo/videos over and over. I delete the duplicates that happen when you ride together as well. There is no easy way to navigate that program though.

Like the OP, I've had the AP for a couple years and it added in all my old pics once we got the new passes so between 3 kids & their friends, family & tons of visitors (we're local), I have usually between 2500 and 3000 pics. Takes forever to load, the website is set up stupidly where you have to scroll through old pics to get to the new ones (in MK I have to click Page Down over 100 times just to see new pics and trying to just pull the bar down to the bottom doesn't make all of them load), and even when I go to a park and scan my MB at places like BOG the number of pics on the account slow down everything so it'll take like 10 minutes to even access my food order!

I have to warn I've tried the above many, many times and the pics just come back. I still have all the old ones where they gave you "bonus" park shots so each Test Track pic for example will have around 4 "stock" photos with it. I delete them; they come back. I delete family ones and they come back. I think some of it is if your setting are (like they have to be) set to view Family & Friends pics then if they didn't delete the pic, whenever the account is refreshed it pulls those ones back up again.

I haven't tried it yet but heard from others if you go to a park they can delete the pics permanently from the account there. I just did a bulk download of roughly 2500 pics and stored them on a flash drive. I may try to go have them at least remove everything from more than 6 months ago or similar and see what happens. Unfortunately my experience has been though that the CM's working in the Photopass offices in the parks are pretty clueless on anything beyond helping you pay money to buy photos. I always end up calling when I have a problem.

Regarding the "stupid" viewing technique - why is it that on my phone I can choose to view newest to oldest or vice versa (and it automatically shows newer ones first) but we don't have that option on the computer? Every time I call and ask for help I ask why they can't add that in and they tell me they tried it in the past but "people" didn't like it. I really want to know who these "people" are! ;)

I called recently and they told me they can hide "old" trips - your photos are still there but they can hide them so you can't see them and only download your new trip.

This is what I do. Our first photos were a bit of a mess because I would download a particular photo or photos and then not check it again for a while and I could never remember which ones we had downloaded and which we had not. The best thing for us is to download at the end of each day where you can just look at the last park you visited. I leave the sorting until I get around to it on the computer in the folder where we save the files.

Is the CD of all files still about $30, even for AP holder accounts? That may be the cleanest way to get all files, then work with them locally instead of downloading.

I actually looked for it. I decided that avoiding the stress and time it takes to download the photos would be worth the $30. I saw it for sale last year, but I looked for it under Products and did not see it available the last time I checked. I wonder if they took away that option when they added MM to the AP.

Do you mean that it added your photos from before you had AP? or that it added your ap photos from before you had an ap account with mm?
I already had an AP but not the MM included, so all my pics appeared with the watermark on them. Once I got the new pass (and actually as soon as I paid for the renewal, which was almost 2 months before the pass expired), all the watermarks went away and I could download any of the pics, going back for a year (although I had deleted a lot of them in an attempt to speed up my account).
