A plea more than a tip.

When writing you great trip report, please keep them comming.
But instead of writting sentence upon sentence Please,Please Please

use some paragraph breaks. Instead of the run on report that is hard to read.

Too many people just write line after line after line.

While the information we all love, it is very hard to read online.

So please break up you sentences in groups of ten lines or less per section.
Then a skip of a line or two is all it takes to make it more readable.

Thanks

Ditto babs! I'm of the opinion that instead of telling people how to write trip reports- just don't read the ones that "bug" you because of how they post it. :)

sorry. you probably mean me. thats what i get for trying to post on my own. i had my wife go back and fix our report so if anyone wants to reread our report i promise its ok now. from now on ill leave the posting to her. thanks

Maybe Tigger thought he/she was speaking for the majority, but don't count me in as part of it. My eyes work well enough to enjoy any trip report be it well-spaced or tightly packed. What I don't enjoy reading is a post with numerous sentence fragments and poorly constructed sentences. An example of that would be Tiggerfan's original post. As for Tigger's spelling errors, they don't bother me.

I'm just so excited to read any trip report. I love the new ones that come up. I just say, let the moderators mod. They are so wonderful about it, and do a great job.

I put in a couple spaces between my 4 lines for OP.

BTW, Bibbidy, I loved your trip report!

TTYL, TC, W TLC, JMO, DIS rocks!

I usually copy and paste them into MS Word so I can break it up a bit as well as adjust the font and point size so it is easier for me to read.

And this is just my personal preference for reading reports, but I enjoy having those printouts so I can use them as my reading material before I go to bed each night. It helps me have Disney Dreams!

Sorry if I touched a nerve, But if I took your suggestion then I would not be reading many of the reports.

Not everybody can read onlne as easy as you may think.

Now I didnt say it was badly written nor did I attack anyones report.
I just made a simple request for us who may be having problems reading the online reports.

Now for the other posters,

Next time don't take it personally nor should you attack someone just because you don't like what we may have to say.

Sorry, but not everyone can be perfect like you.

What I dont like is someone who personaly attacks a simple request.
I didn't attack anyone's trip report, just made a simple request.

First of all I did not take it personally I'm quite baffled how you would take my post as taking it "personally".
Secondly, I'm not attacking others just because I don't like what they have to say. I think it was rude- and so I said it was rude. You're the one starting a thread in the TRIP REPORTS forum just to tell others how to post. If you have a complaint- post it in a forum made for that type of thing- this forum is to post trip reports, period.
And lastly, if you have a problem with reading the reports- just don't read them. If that means you can't read many, so be it. But it' really takes some gall to post to tell people how to post. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it- and I'm not taking it personal either. :)

This forum is not for posting threads of your "requests" telling people how to post- it's for trip reports. Like em or leave em (or read them in this case). I'm reporting this thread because it doesn't have a place in this forum. :)

First of all, you didn't request, you commanded. No matter how many "pleases" you put in your post, you used the imperative tense.

Second of all, I didn't attack your "request", I gave my point of view on two items. First, I voiced my lack of agreement with you. That is not an attack. Then, I expressed, since you brought it up first, what I find hard to read. Your original post happens to be an example of the latter. That is an observation not an attack.

By the way, your response was much easier to read than your original post. Thank you for writing in complete and coherent sentences this time.

I have never had problems reading trip reports either. I have a little trick I use when someone posts very long posts without a break in the paragraphs. I highlight (holding down the left mouse button) every now and then, so if I have to look away from the monitor for some reason, I know right where I left off (or at least in the general area)

Good idea. Where did you learn that left mouse trick? I recently learned to use control F to do a word search on a page. Did you already know that one?

My first post was not an attack, but it was a request to those writing trip reports.

I felt this was a good place for the request to be seen. If this was an incorrect place for that request I apologize for that.

Some of the responses to my request was an attack, when the posters choose to mention my id in their posts and combined this with ridicule of my post.

I'm sorry if my writing style is not up to your or others standards, but it did express my thoughts.

In the message board format it conveyed the message enough for people to understand, even with the typographical and grammatical errors.

Where do you or others get the right to tell me not to read something if I don't like the way its formatted.

All I did was make a request to make it easier for some of us who find reading the reports online hard.

Most people shy away from posting anything that can be viewed negative.
The response to my simple request is a good example of why.

I do thank dreamcometrue and CRSNDSNY for the suggestions on how to make the online reading of long reports easier.

With that, I plan to let this thread die, as I will not respond to any more of the responses in this thread.

I have been on these boards since 1998 and have never posted this request. I have wanted to, but did not know how to say it. But I just wanted to support the OP and say that I also have a very hard time reading long reports with too few paragraphs. I wonder if it is an old age thing? :confused3

Well, anyway, I just wanted to say that the OP is not the only one. But everyone, feel free to continue to post as you please, but for me, it will be skipped. And that makes me sad. Because I really love reading them.

PS I put this into Word to make sure I spelled everything correctly!

well, I use the highlighting a lot to copy/paste things, and have started to use it a long time ago while reading long posts. I often get distracted while reading, and it was difficult finding where I left off, so now whenever I read something long winded, I highlight every few sentences, or lines, to make sure I can pick up easier when I get called away or otherwise distracted! :goodvibes

Sometimes, it's the way you ask.

I think you have to take into account, that not everyone has the same level of skills with computers. And not everyone has the same gammar skills. Alot of people don't regard the internet as "formal" communication and write like they talk.

If it's bothersome to you, just don't read those posts.
