If you're selling outside a store somewhere, I would take a big box and put in the cookies you are already sending to the troops. Put a big sign on it that says "Help us fill this box with cookies for the troops!" instead of "Would you like a box of Girl Scout Cookies" have the girls say "Would you like to buy a box of cookies to send to troops overseas?" or something like that. Honestly, if I was buying for myself I would probably buy a box and maybe give you a $5 and say keep the change (I was a Girl Scout.
) However, if it was for the troops, I would give $10 and donate it all. I think if you approach it that way, people will be more willing to help. Many will not buy for themselves because of the economy, but given the opportunity to help others in some way...they're happy to be able to help.
