We are headed down the 2nd-6th of December. My wife will be 5 months pregnant at the time. I know. What were we thinking.

We are frequent visitors to WDW so we know the ropes pretty well, but I am a little concerned about how the trip may treat her. I know our hectic pace well need to change.

Does anyone have any advice? Anything to avoid?

We are also staying for the first time at Pop. Should I let them know in hopes of getting a room closer to the bus stop.

you can get a preffered room...for only $10.00 more a night...well worth it in my opinion....REST!!!!!!!! I can't say that enough...don't over excert yourselves...do you have any other kids...if so take a break in the middle of the day...go back to the hotel, take an hour nap and then go back to the parks...bring lots of snacks for her...don't want the bundle of joy to go hungry!!! But most of all, have a GREAT time!!!!
BTW...congrats on the pregnancy!!!

allearsnet.com has Tips for Expectant Mothers CLICK HERE. Hopefully you will find some useful info there. I went while pg but I was only 8 weeks at the time. I'm sure the further along you get the more important it is to take things easy as that baby can start to get heavy. I had pretty severe pregnancy fatigue in the first trimester so we definitely slowed our pace that trip. I also drank lots of water and stayed off the "restricted" rides of course.

Have a magical trip, and congrats on the little bundle of joy!

I took my wife who was also 5 months pregnant at the time in June, so you'll be a little better off than me. We are frequent visitors as well and found that, honestly, we didn't change our routine all that much. Obviously she couldn't ride many rides, but other than that it was business as usual. We bought her one of the Brita bottle before the trip and she guzzled water all day long. She wound up going to bed earlier and sleeping later than normal too, which was fine with me. Going in early December though, most of the parks will be closing by 8 so she should have plenty of time to rest. My wife is a nurse and was working 12 hour shifts when we left, so she was used to being on her feet with the extra weight all day too. If your wife isn't used to it, the toll on her may be worse. Good luck and have fun and I hope your little one enjoys his/her first trip as much as ours did (even though he couldn't see it)!

The weather will be great for you guys. A bit chilly at night...o.k. I am a floridian and anything below 70 degrees is considered chilly to me! We go every year at the beginning of Dec. and it gets cold at night once that sun goes down. At least I thought it was cold!
My advice...get a good pair of walking shoes!:earsgirl: :earsboy:

We visited WDW at 7 1/2 months along in late May. Heat was the only big problem (other than that belly!!!). Anyway, even though we were also with our 12 yr. old., 5 yr. old and almost 2 yr. old, we did fine and had a GREAT time! REST...REST...REST!!!!! Find any bench you can and USE it!!!! We even took advantage of the A/C in the Baby Centers to cool off briefly and Cast Members were happy to oblige, as well as helping Mommy locate the nearest Rest room wherever we happened to be! No rides were allowed for Mommy, but she enjoyed Small World, Buzz, Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion. It can be done, just keep little bambino happy and you'll have lots of fun! Enjoy and Good luck!

I just wanted to say thank you for posting this! A trip to WDW is a big planning adventure for us and we often plan for it a year in advance ... so of course, within a week of making a non-refundable airline ticket purchase we get the good news :D

Reading your tips and the allears link has made me feel so much better!

Thank you :teeth:

Go ----- have lots of fun --------- and remember that your happiness is one of the greatest gifts that you can give your baby. Have a great time. Oh ya and sleep lots too and let your body tell you what is best to do.

I was 7 months pregnant when I went. It was to be a quiet time for me . I went with my girlfriend who is a travel agent. I just went for the free room and quiet away from it all. My friend was having a difficult time trying to get to see everthing to take back the knowledge for her job. So I went full throttle to get her to see the most she could for the time we were there. It was great. They were like little kids. They had not been there in 15 years. Shame on them!!! Well she was greatful and I was wrecked but it was great. Do get the rest you need but enjoy remember it is to be enjoyable. It can not be if you are miserable. Your tickets should be good forever so enjoy. Good luck with the delivery.

I went to DW last year with my DH and two older children and I was almost 5 months along-we just all acted like kids, which is the fun of Disney-hung out in Fantasy Land, and all the kid-friendly rides-Just obvioulsy avoid the coasters that the Dr. might indicate to avoid, but other than that-just tell her to practice walking lots beforehand, drink lots of water, take breaks when needed, enjoy the disney food whenever she and baby feels like it, and heck, ride the Pooh ride twice-once for her, once for baby!:Pinkbounc It will be fine!

Thank you for posting this! I will be five months along when we go Jan 29-Feb 5.

I do have one suggestion if you want to be close to the Bus Stop ask for the 70's buildings at POP. The preferred rooms (60's) cost $10 more per night plus the tax on that extra rate, and they seemed further away from the buses to me. They are centrally located, but the 70's are closer to the bus. Be sure to make the request again at check in, and let the CM know why you have that special request. The CM may be able to get you into a close room in the B building, or an end room in the A building. We stayed in 50's C building and was relatively "close to the coffee" which is what we wanted. The interior rooms of 60's may be a little noisy too, since that is where the main pool is located. Good luck! Let us all know how it goes!

I was 7 months when we went once...my best tips....

Drink plenty of water...keep a water bottle with you at all times...really helps with your energy levels.

Take little snacks (protein/fruit snacks were best to me)...a little cheese stick....apple slices/banana/grapes...just make sure you have some healthy snacks every 2 hours...all that walking and not getting nourishment can make you sacked out!

Try and plan some shows/sit down rides every so often....

My biggest complaint was how tired I was by 7 at night...I became a zombie...wished I would have taken a nap but I pushed myself and had a great time but I was no help to my husband at night when he had to give baths to our other children and put them down to bed.

Try to avoid caffeine...it will dehydrate you...sticking to water water water and some juices will make you feel very energetic.

Have a great time and take it nice and easy! :)

I was in my 7th month when my family and I were at WDW last December. I had a fun, relaxing time. The big joke for DH & DD was that there wasn't a bench that I missed the whole time. Well, that and the fact that I drank a quart of milk for breakfast each morning. (This is cheaper in the store than in the food court, by the way.)

Tips:
Buy a refillable Brita water bottle and fill it often.
Use a backpack. It helps even out the "package" on your front so your back won't hurt as much.
Buy lots of raisins and granola bars for the trip. (Women who have been pregnant know what this helps.) These go in the backpack.
Take some hard candy to suck on in case your blood sugar gets low. Mine did and this really helps since it's already in your backpack!
Make friends with all the benches that you find. Take your shoes off and sigh. You're pregnant, who cares what others think.
Always smile and say "hello" to the bus drivers so that they make sure that you always get a seat on the buses.
GLARE at people that won't let you sit down. (There are a lot of rude people in the World and they sometimes need to be reminded what kindness gentility actually is.)
At Mission Space, find a seat through the exit while your family is on the ride. Oh, and don't forget to take a picture of your belly to email home for posterity.

Most of all, have fun and remember that next trip, there will be a little one to introduce to The Magic.

I will be around 11 weeks when we go. I plan on dressing in very comfy clothes, comfy shoes with good support, and socks that reduce foot swelling. I plan on taking breaks (ie sitting down, eating snacks, etc) so I dont get too tired or sick. Im still in that smells will do me in stage too. Drink lots of water and know where the bathrooms are ahead of time! I will be bringing a Brita water bottle that I read about on here (Walmart in the water filter section) and some Crystal Light one serving drink mixes to hopefully filter out some of that nasty tasting/smelling water at WDW. Its a lot cheaper than buying those small bottles all the time (I think they run about $3). I dont plan on doing many rides since the trip is all about our almost 3 yr old. His dad and uncle were unable to make the trip last time so its their time to do stuff with him! Im going to be the camera person! Congrats and have a great time!

Congratulations!!

We went, last May, when my wife was 5 months pregnant. We know the parks and were careful to set low expectations. It was great because we did lots of Disney Baby shopping.

Here is some things I kept in mind.

1. Don't do morning until midnight days, use a break in-between or start late.
2. As always good footwear and lots of water are a a must.
3. Lots of snacks and bathroom breaks...memorize the map so you know where the quickest rest room is located.
4. I sprang for a Mother-to-be massage at AK lodge, she went for the massage and I went to ride Mission Space...we both won.

We went with another couple who did not fare as well. She was 6 months and had lots of foot trouble so we took sandles for her to wear on breaks/shows and running shoes for walking. This seemed to work much better for her and we all had lots of fun.

Good luck and have a blast.
