Hi, I'm super-scheduling, and can't find much info on the Festival fo the Lion King in AK. What times are the shows? How early should we line up before a show? Is there a best time of day to do this show? Any other FotLK tips you'd like to share?

Many Thanks

First of all, welcome to the DIS! Secondly, here are the current showtimes for the show:

9:45, 10:45 & 11:45am, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 & 4:30pm

I usually like to see it in the afternoon when it's either hot or raining (you can tell I usually go in the summer ;) ). If you line up about 20-30 minutes before the show, you should have no trouble getting a good seat. As to where to sit, if you have young kids who might want to get chosen to dance during the show, definatly sit on one of the front rows. They will have more of a chance of being picked there. Otherwise, I would get a seat farther back. You'll be able to see more of the acrobatics that way and really get the full effect of the show.

Those are some really great tips from meeko_33785, and very helpful with the show times! I think I read a post in another thread that the last showtime of day is the least crowded, but it's a large theater and there are usually enough seats for everyone (although I've never been to WDW during Peak seasons). And there are no bad seats. The show is performed "in the round" so the seats are on all sides. You may think that a certain seating section might be better than another, but the show does a great job of giving you a great view no matter where you sit.

During my last trip, I saw FoTLK twice and both times showed up about 15 minutes prior to showtime with plenty of seating still available. However, if you do have kids that want to get involved in the "interactive" portions, you should probably get in line a bit earlier (at least 30 minutes prior, and possibly earlier) to increase your chances of sitting in the front rows.

It's a great show...my favorite in WDW. I hope you enjoy your trip!!!

I'm addicted to FotLK so we get there and wait in line 45 minutes to an hour early. We take this time to get the kids a snack and DH will take the kids over to the characters while I wait in line. But we have favorite seats that we like to get thats why we get there so early. There are really no bad seats like the other posters said, you can see the show well from just about anywhere. If you have children I would recommend sitting on the end of the aisle, it will give them a better chance of getting selected during the show. And we also like the last show of the day, alot of people leave after the parade. Have fun!!

we went marathon sunday so it was relatively uncrowded but found it worked great to go to pocahantos then walk right out of that and into lion king. we had good seats in the elephant section about mid way up, towards the center of the section. this might not work at a more busy time but the CM at lion king suggested it since we were a little to early for the show..

I second the tip about putting kids in the aisle to be selected. DD was selected when we went last time.

FOTLK is my favorite WDW show. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I can't wait to see it again. Are you allowed to video tape this?

We were allowed to tape it on our last trip, but that was before they closed in the stage. Does anyone if you can still tape in the new arena?

We just got back a week ago and no problem with taping. I just can't get enough of this show. I have seen it each trip ( at least five times now) and I can't believe the passion and energy that comes from each and every performance. Absolutely breathtaking the talent. My son (10) saw the CD at the BC gift store and knew how much I love it, took my DH aside and they snuck buying it for me. It was so sweet. We listened to it, full blast, when we got home. It took me right back to sitting in that arena, a fantastic CD.
Gosh, I pray this show doesn't ever become another Hunchback and disappears. It is THE best thing that DW has ever done (aside from Fantasmic, a close second :D ).

You can videotape the show but for the safety of the performers (not to mention it's distracting in that dark theater) you must turn the external light on your video camera off.

I work at FoLK and posted a whole bunch of tips on it about a month or so ago. You can probably find it if you use search.

You only have to get there half an hr early if it's busy or if you have your heart set on front row seats. The theatre holds over 1000, and they don't start seating until 15 minutes prior to the show. If it's only moderately busy, you can see the Pocahontas show first with no problem. The first show is usually the least crowded. The 4:30 show gets a last minute rush from the parade letting out.
