How do you leave your tips at TS restaurants in WDW? Cash on table or add it to your credit card? When I was a waitress 20 years ago, I liked cash b/c I would get it that night.

CC, always. Allows me to keep a record of the transaction and rack up FF/reward points. When the server gets his/her tip is not my problem, nor should it be.

Besides, wouldn't putting a tip on a CC be safer for the server as well? Cash is easily pocketed and/or stolen.

Neither. I charge it back to my resort room and then pay it off using Disney gift cards and Disney Visa rewards dollars. I carry very little cash on me when I'm in the parks.

I do tips both ways. However, if I leave cash, I find the server and hand it to him/her. I feel it's too tempting to leave unwatched money on the table.

I sometimes dine with a very elderly neighbor and when it's her turn to leave the tip, it's always $1. (Let's not talk about it, she's a lovely lady.) I add an appropriate amount based on the bill and hand it to the server personally while my friend is visiting the rest room. It's a discreet way to handle an awkward situation.

Same here. I pretty much charge EVERYTHING to my room while at Disney. Then I pay off my room charge with Disney gift cards and my Disney Visa.

If I have a gift card to use, I make sure to pay my balance a day or two before checkout so everything doesn't go to the credit card on file.

When I was a waitress, even if the tip came on the cc, we got the cash equivalent that night.

When we travel to WDW. We bring cash for tipping. Since we are on the dining plan, we dont want to charge just the tip.

Last year we had the TS meals and tip all figured out (estimated high) and had that placed on a gift card for each restaurant. That way everything was taken care of before our trip, no charging to the room, no cash to carry and no credit card to worry about. This year we're on the dining plan with TS included so we plan on cash or room charges.

It depends how we are paying the bill which would be cash or charged to the room.

Charged them all to the room until our last meal. That one had to be paid in cash because I no longer technically had a room as we had checked out. I was still using up our last TS credits though.
I prefer to put it on the room. I don't like to carry cash around the park.

Pay Cash for the tips. Frequently the Credit Card tips don't go to the server. They go into one pot and split up at the end of the night at most restaurants. Disney could do things differently, though. I plan to pay cash for the tip at the Wave in July when I'm paying for the meal in Disney Gift Cards.

We always pay tip in cash. Want to make sure it goes to the right cm

We always use cash. I let my dd (age 9) hand the server the tip with a smile and a thank-you.
If they want to share/split with the others - it is their business.

If I'm paying with cash, I use cash for the tip.

It depends if I'm paying with a credit or debit card. I usually put it on there, but sometimes I just leave cash on the table.

Credit card. Don't carry much cash and want to rack up the miles so we can go on more WDW trips, every mile helps. :goodvibes

cash when I pay via cash, cc when I pay via cc. Here all servers are cashed out at the end of their shift, they get tips when they cash out so they don't have to wait.

Cash. I remember restaurants charging servers a fee for tips left on a credit card, here is one story: (I know its a year old, but I only googled for a sec)

Credit Card Tips Cost Steak 'N Shake Servers

Tips Will Be Trimmed To Cover Processing Fee

POSTED: 6:05 pm EDT May 10, 2011

INDIANAPOLIS -- Some Steak 'n Shake servers are upset the Indiana-based chain is now trimming tips to cover credit card costs.
Starting Tuesday, waiters and waitresses who get tipped on a credit card will have to use a portion to cover the cost of processing the plastic -- 2.5 percent per transaction, 6News' Rafael Sanchez reported.
A Steak 'n Shake server who spoke to 6News on the condition of anonymity for fear of losing her job called the new fee excessive.

"That's the cost of doing business. That's an overhead. The server has no say in whether we accept credit cards," she said. "Next time, they'll want us to pitch in for rent, electrical bill. Where does it end?"
Employees were asked to sign a document agreeing to the new rule. Those who object can be reassigned or will be asked to quit, the server told 6News.
Officials with the Indiana Restaurant Association said state and federal law allow restaurants to pass on credit card fees to their employees.

Well that sucks.....but I'll continue to leave a tip on the cc when I use one to pay. There have been times I have left cash at the table and the server adds a tip anyway :scared1: when I've tried to dispute my bank says I have to go back to the restaurant to dispute with them (I use a check card for most dining out purchases) and that never works so I simply leave the tip on the card.

I never carry more than $20 cash with me in the parks. Our tips (if we eat TS) are always charged back to the room.

If we're using the DDP, we always tip in cash. We just think it's much easier. The waiter brings the bill, we give him the room key, he brings it back and we sign for the dining credits, write "CASH" on the tip line, leave the cash and GO. No waiting, no more signing.

I have a spreadsheet where I plug in the costs of the meals we'll probably eat (using menus at allearsnet.com) and it figures the 18% tip for me. I bring cash specifically for our TS tips in envelopes marked for each. I make them before we leave home and keep them in our room safe, getting out the one(s) I need each morning before we head out to the parks. It makes it feel like every expense is already allotted and accounted for.

If we are not on the DDP and just eat one or two TS meals, charging them to our room, we charge the tip as well, just as if we were eating out at home.

we always charge to our card. I don't like leaving cash laying around.

But thanks for the heads up on steak and shake. It's beyond rare for us to eat there but I'll keep it in mind in case we do and leave the server cash.
