Tipping question...

when we booked our trip, my BFF was told, by the cast member booking her cruise, the tips are included in the price of the cruise.

Then a friend told us that's not true. You'll get charged the tips at the end, with the option of tipping more.

Can anyone confirm this?

Tips are not included in price, sometimes when booking through a travel agent or when booking 'space availabale' through a CM.

Dvc member cruises the tips are included. Other than that they are not included.

I understand that some agencies automatically include pre-paid gratuities when they quote a price. You need to ask specifically about it. Even if you do pre-pay, they aren't paid to the CMs until the last day when it's still charged to your onboard account. Basically prepaying puts a credit on your account although whether it's actually earmarked for that I don't know.

It's $12/person/day. If you're worried about it, call and have them added onto your cruise fare.

And yes, you can pay your cruise fare or any portion with a Disney gift card.

We usually find service so wonderful we give more than the suggested amount.

It's a teeny percentage of the cost of your cruise fare. Considering how hard the crew works, it's MORE than reasonable for us.

We have three kiddos so it will be $420 by my calculations. I am assuming people tip the same amount for kids (who are actually prob more work). Also--do you tip oceaneers club staff?

Ok perfect. I feel a little better because I save a little percentage on the gift cards so it won't hurt quite as much I sold my husband on the "all inclusive price" aspect of the cruise and didn't warn him about the transfers, tips, excursions, fancy meals etc

Children are definitely the same rate - most add on more to at least the dining room servers and assistant servers because of their help with the children.

Club/Lab counselors are non-tipped positions and are not supposed to accept tips. If pressed, it goes into a pool for something for all of the club/lab counselors.

I looked at my account printout from the Magic. I'd prepaid my gratuities, and they did NOT show up on the final bill.
