Tipping Housekeeping?

We camped at the Fort over new years and had a fantastic time! There were many instances of unexpected Disney magic. We stayed in the 2000 Loop (never again, too much commotion) in our pop-up. The day we left I stopped by the Outpost office to ask how to leave a tip for Housekeeping. I got the impression that this wasn’t normally done. They did take my money and put it in an envelope to give to Housekeeping servicing the 2000 loop.

I thought housekeeping did a fantastic job while we were there. They picked up the trash, and recycling, and cleaned the camp sites, common areas and comfort stations, etc. In my opinion they probably worked harder than to service the camping loop than to service a cabin or resort room during a guest’s stay. I always leave a Housekeeping tip when I stay in a resort room or cabin, so I naturally thought to leave a housekeeping tip for the 2000 loop staff.

So my questions are do Fort veterans leave a Housekeeping tip during their stay? Is tipping expected or not required? Does it matter what type of loop you are staying in?

I don’t really know what the custom or etiquette is in this situation.

That ended up in a managers pocket probably. Unless your in a cabin or room CM are not supposed to accept tips.

I have heard the same thing. They aren't allowed to accept cash tips. Would be nice to know if the money was donated to a charity. When I worked at walmart if we found any cash and it was not claimed with in a certain time frame like 60 days it would go in the funds for make a wish.

1) Alas, your tip went to the manager.
2) What you describe as housekeeping is really janitorial.
. . . they change by shift and by day, so you do not know which ones
. . . they are in a non-tip category, so can't take the cash

NOTE: Housekeeping is really the maids cleaning hotel rooms and
FW cabins. They do not go outside or do campsites.

Do any Disney property hotels allow the Mousekeepers to keep their tips?

OP Here:

When I went to the office to inquire about leaving a housekeeping tip I was helped by two cast members. One of them was a manager. I would think that if tipping for camping loop related housekeeping was against Disney policy one of them would have said something. Also, “Housekeeping” was the term the cast members I spoke with used. Based on my interaction with these two cast members I am confident that the money I left made it to the housekeeping manager for the 2000 loop to pass along to the people who actually cleaned the loop. After that I have no idea where it ended up.

We are scheduled to be back at the Fort for a long weekend the beginning of May. I am planning on asking about the formal policy against tipping.

I would like to thank all of the posters who took the time to read my post and respond to it. The responses have been helpful to me. Thanks again.

We've been camping *forever* and this is the first time I've heard anyone wanting to tip at a campground!! Have never even thought of such a thing :confused3 Have you been camping long, and have you always tipped at campgrounds? Am really curious to know as the subject has never come up before to my knowledge.

And no, we would never tip :)

WE have been camping most of our lives. However, we are new to campground camping, and are still learning the customs and etiquette. What I have learned from this thread is that tipping is not required or expected, but probably not prohibited.

Thank you for your thoughts.
