Guy is coming over to fix my broiler- just putting in a part. He's an independant contractor but sent by GE.

Do I tip him? If so, how much?

He's on his way now!!

I never tip repair guys, so no, I wouldn't even bother.

My fiance does appliance repair and RARELY gets a tip.

Occasionally it will be like $198 - and whomever will just give him straight up even dollars and tell him not to wrry abotu change.

No tip. :thumbsup2

I don't tip repairmen - we can't tip everyone just doing their normal jobs. Geez, I never even thought of it. You're nicer than me.

My husband is a HVAC service guy! He has ocassionally gotten tips but only when the customer knows he has gone out of his way to correct his problem.

Like the time there was a snowstorm and no one would come out to this poor fellow to fix his heat. DH  went out and he didn't have part on truck but knew there was one at shop, so he drove slowly to and from to get this guy heat!

I love my DH!

He showed up almost right after I posted! I ended up not tipping him, mostly because in the course of chatting with him he mentioned he's actually a salaried employee of GE.

Thanks for the responses!
