We did it in April. We were a part of a grand gathering, so all of the moms and kids walked up Main St., through castle to Fantasyland while the dads went to Space Mtn to get Fastpasses. We didn't rush up Main St. It was the week after Easter at rope drop (7:00 am) and when we got to the other side of the castle, I noticed a CM was standing out waving a Mickey Hand in front of Tink's Treasures. I asked her if Tinker Bell was still sleeping and she said yes. We were supposed to go ride Dumbo, but we detoured into the store to wake up Tinker Bell. It was cute. The kiddos all held onto the bell and shook it, yelling for Tinker Bell to wake up. The fiberoptics around the store started light up as though she flew over them. Then Tinker Bell appeared in the screen in the area behind the register. She blew a kiss and then flew off. They gave every one in our group certificates, not just the kids. It was neat.
They also do something special for the 1st riders at Buzz Lightyear. My DH and brother practically carried my boys, running down Main St, through the shortcut, and to the area where they have another rope to hold everyone back. A CM asked who was riding Buzz and our group yelled that they were. They let them through and were waiting at the front of the line for us to join them after we got there...I was pushing a double stroller, so we couldn't go as fast. Our group was smaller that morning, so we all got to ride the ride first and they gave us complimentary photos from the ride to commerate it as well as a certificate. We had heard the Buzz sometimes rides the 1st ride, but he didn't that day. It was still cool to open up the ride regardless.
