If we leave DHS around 11:45am and want to be at Via Napoli for lunch at 12:40pm is an hour a realistic time frame to get from point A to B? We would either walk or take a friendship boat to the Intl Gateway.

We did that trip in reverse last year and it took under an hour to get from the gateway to HS. The only thing for us was the boat was there and ready to do when we got there so I am not sure how long the wait could have been. If you catch a boat quick enough you will be fine.

Awesome. Thank you for your reply. Planning on RD for DHS and not really wanting to eat QS for lunch there :crazy2: and Epcot has so many great choices I think it would be worth the trip :thumbsup2

You'll be good. Taking the boats you'll have to go through a few stops only the way so it'll be close to the same time it takes to walk it. The walk is pretty easy and is nice if its not 100 degrees outside

If the boat is there, take the boat.... maybe take it at least as far as Yacht/Beach. If you have to wait for the boat, walk it.

Thanks. I did forget to mention this will be in early June :rolleyes1 however we are from Texas so we have adapted well to Central Florida sauna type afternoons in the summer lol

What are these boats that are being discussed? I'm not sure I know about these. Details on the routes, times, etc please!

You may wish to get off at the first stop (Boardwalk) and walk from there if time is getting tight. It might save you a bit of time as the boat will go from DHS to Boardwalk to Swan/Dolphin to Yacht&Beach and then to Epcot. You can see from the great pic above the extra distance you would be walking. It's very pretty though!

EDIT: OOPS! I had the stops in the incorrect order. Please see @Robo's correction below. You may not save time walking based on this updated information.

These particular boats are Friendship Boats that run between Hollywood Studios and Epcot on a regular basis.

A nice relaxing ride and great Disney transportation option. They leave from outside Hollywood Studios and near the UK in Epcot.

The resorts commonly known as "Epcot area resorts" have a water taxi system to Hollywood Studios and Epcot - or you can walk. (They don't normally run buses to these resorts unless it's storming and they have to shut the water taxis down.) These Epcot resorts include Disney's Yacht Club, Beach Club and Boardwalk. Also included in the service are the nearby Swan & Dolphin. They typically run a loop about every 20 minutes. They are similar to the boats that cross the lagoon at Epcot. The one for HS is located to the left of the main entrance as you exit. The ones at Epcot run to the International Gateway (aka "the back entrance") between France and the UK.

Walking distance from DHS gate to EP International Gateway (via Pool by-pass) : 1.1 miles
Distance from IG to Italy: 0.45 miles

However long it takes you to walk 1.55 miles plus a few minutes for security is your total walking time.

An hour is reasonable for either walking or riding the boat.

Honestly walking may be quicker (but less relaxing) when you consider waiting for the boat (probably 10-15 minute wait if you just missed one) and all the stops it makes.
