Okay, just so you know, here is my disclosure:

I am not a Universal employee, but I do have a money motive for asking this question. I am writing a review of timeshare properties in the Orlando area, for the benefit of a theme park blogger who is paying me. I thought that I should probably be honest about that right up front. Now that you know the truth, I hope that you are still willing to answer my question. I completely understand if you wish that I would take such questions off of this site if it smacks of too much commercial interest on my part.

If Universal Studios had a timeshare similar to the Disney Vacation Club, could you see yourself as a candidate for it?

Possibly. Naturally, location and price would play a big part. I'd like to easily walk to the parks and city walk. I was actually doing a little research to see if they existed already and came across this -- so yeah, I guess it interests me. But I'd only stay a couple of days before or after disney, so I'd buy small.

Yes I would---but it would have to include express. We get lots of questions on this board about close timeshares to Universal.

not I, no interest in a time share.
i prefer being a hotel guest and allowed amenities of the onsite hotel.

i don't cook, tidy up, clean, make beds, etc on vacation.

i can stay home to do that.

I agree with all of this! It would not interest me.

Ditto! And it would need to be onsite. I wouldn't want to have to drive to the parks.

it wouldn't be onsite if there were a time share.
Loews Hotels would not be a part of it.

if any more hotels would be built on the property, i doubt it would be a timeshare set up. i don't think Universal Orlando would want that type of competition on their land.
there were past rumors of making another hotel which would not be a deluxe but moderate, which would be lower costs for rooms.

DVC at Disney provides a nice income for Disney. A timeshare could do the same for Universal.

disney owns the hotels onsite.
universal doesn't own the Loews hotels so that wouldn't fly.

Actually Loews and Universal have joint ownership of RPR and PBH. According to their latest 2011 corporation report...

For RPR and PBH " a Loews Hotels subsidiary is a 20% owner of the hotel, which is being operated by Loews Hotels pursuant to a management
contract."

For HRH, "a Loews Hotels subsidiary is a 50% owner of these hotels located at the Universal Orlando theme park, through a joint
venture with Universal Studios and the Rank Group. The hotels are on land leased by the joint venture and are operated by
Loews Hotels pursuant to a management contract."

I remembered reading something changed in 2011 - I think primarily with HRH. Found this on Loews website:

As part of a joint venture with Universal Parks and Resorts and Seminole Hard Rock Entertainment, Loews Hotels co-owns and manages three distinctively themed on-site hotels located at Universal Orlando Resort.
