Timeshare - RCI question

Hello all -

We booked a week thorugh RCI at Orange Lake and are now unable to take the trip. When we called RCI to cancel they told us that we'd lose the booking fee with paid and we'd get the week back, but only as a 21 day last minute booking type thing - basically losing the value of the Red week we used. This is pretty much useless to us, and we'd rather give it to someone that could use it instead. Question is...is it possible to let someone else use our RCI week?

yep you ring up and ask for a guest certificate, its about £30, so i presume around $50 for you lot.

Actually on occasion i have saved myself the fee by ringing the resort directly and saying were travelling with friends who will be arriving before us and can we add there name to the ressie so they can check in when they arrive first rather than wait for us...and that has worked too. xx

Yes. As the PP stated you make the reservation under their name and pay an additional fee for a guest certificate. I believe it is $50. We gave my mom one of our weeks last year. Keep in mind that you can only book within 21 days from the travel date. When we have last minute deposits, we keep them and just use them in Orlando. The Orlando area is saturated with timeshares and we have never had a problem finding a timeshare at the 21 day mark. I hope that helps.

Log in to your RCI account, and see if it is possible to add Vacation Protection. Usually, there is a time limit for doing so, but not always. If you can add it, you will get the full trading power of your original week back, plus a credit for an exchange fee, good for six months.
