Through a military deal, we can get a great rate on a timeshare for a week in WDW. They are mostly RCI properties, as far as I can tell. Anyone have any expereince with any of the following timeshares?

American Village Resorts at Orlando
Barefootin' in the Keys at Old Town
Bryan's Spanish Cove
Celebration World Resort
Club Sevilla
Cypress Pointe Grandvillas
Cypress Pointe Resort
Fairfield Orlando at Cypress Palms
Florida Vacation Villas
Grand Lake Resort
High Point World Resort
Kingstown Reef at the Crowne Plaza
Lago Vista at Buena Ventura Lakes
Leisure Resorts Orlando
Lifetime of Vacations at Grand Lake
Orbit One Vacation Villas
Orlando International Resort Club
Silver Lake
Sunterra Resorts Polynesian Isle
Vacation Villa at Parkway
Villas at Fortune Place
Villas at Summer Bay
Westgate Vacation Villas

These are the ones that I like the best (in order of my personal preference) from your list:

1. Silver Lake Resort
2. Cypress Pointe Grandvillas
3. Fairfield Orlando at Cypress Palms
4. Sunterra Resorts Polynesian Isle

None of these are very large, spread out resorts. So they don't require a car to get to the nearest resort pool. The first two are closest to WDW property. Each has spacious rooms - the 2BRs all have a full kitchen, a jacuzzi tub in the MBR and the first three include an inroom washer/dryer. All offer at least one playground, at least one heated pool with hot tub and kiddie pool, a game room, nice landscaping. HTH.

any "resort" obtained through that "promotion" with RCI is a Steal

it costs a timeshare owner who owns at those resorts " a lot " more cosidering.....initial investment + maintenancef fees + taxes ++ rci membership ( currently about 60$ a year ) + rci exchange fee ( presently 129$) to do a week ......

you will probably only be paying about 35$ a night or less for your accomodation ( it might be a one or two bedroom depending on the excess inventory that is ON hand )

What promotion and how do you get it?

the promotion is for the "military".....but you can get similar at skyauction by bidding on last minute travel or ready set go .....

the auctions for ready set go .....usually go in the 40 tp 50 $ range although lately ......they have been closer to 50....

on top of your bid there is a mandatory service charge of 195$ and a processing fee of 15$ ( for emailing you your confirmation or having it fed ex 'd )so you have to add the 210$ to you bid to get your total price...

eg.....40$ bid + 210 fee = 250$

right now ready set go is open until the end of may....meaning if something is available and you like it ....you can book it in advance by "reserving" before you bid....then once you win they will confirm it and send you the RCI exchange certificate

or you can win the bid and select your "resort" later.....when your plans are firmed up....again once you decide they send you the certificate...

as far as checking out the resorts.....they have listings which are similar to the ones on RCI.com.....

you could probably use rci.com and just plug in the resort name to bring up descriptions...

If you or a family member is in the military, you can book those hotels from afvclub.com - it's the Armed Forces Vacation Club. It's limited availability, though - I know all those hotels won't be available for my dates, but those are the ones I saw most frequently in the searches.

I recently rented a 3BR place through this site - it is the Embassy at Grand Beach. I know the pool isn't as elaborate as some of the other places, but it was available for the time we wanted to go and what a steal at $249 for the week.

My husband and I just got back from a short stay at Club Sevilla. We requested a villa with a jacuzzi (wow) it was huge. We had such a fun time. The pool was beautiful. Close to restaurants and groceries stores.

Here are the ones from that list that we've stayed at and my thoughts...

Barefootin' in the Keys at Old Town
This was a nice unit, we had 2 bedrooms and it's acutally 2 units. This worked fine for us, but if you're looking at putting the kids in the other room alone it's a bit much if they're small. The unit was clean and had nice furnishings. The resort is VERY small, but still a nice place.

Orbit One Vacation Villas
This is an older timeshare and it's not as plush as many others we've stayed at. That being said, it's one of the best locations.

Silver Lake
We've only toured here, but we really liked it. We will be staying in 2 units this December and are very excited.

From my research my picks from the list in order of preference would be:

Silver Lake
Fairfield Orlando at Cypress Palms
Sunterra Resorts Polynesian Isle
Westgate Vacation Villas

Hope this helps.

You did not ask about Orange Lake Resort and Country Club.
This is also and RCI affiliated resort and I love it. Have fun looking!
