Time To Board Ship

We usually get there just before 10am and get checked in and the boarding usually starts around 11:45am ..... Andy

The port opens to incoming traffic at 10. If you arrive before the port opens, you will have to park off the property till it opens, so if you are in a taxi or limo, you do not want to do this. The counters open for check in at 10:30. Boarding is scheduled to start at 11:45.

We usually arrive just about 10:30 or a few minutes later. This puts us near the front of the line to board, although not right at the front, and gives us plenty of time for ressies, etc. when on board.

On the 2/7 Magic cruise we got to the terminal at 10:00 and they still has not opened up the parking lot. We had to line up on the access road in front of the terminal and wait for personnel to let cars in the lot (make a left into the main lot). We were just dropping luggage off and then hubby was going to return the rental car to Budget and hop their shuttle back to the terminal.

There was a line of about 6 cars in front of us and quite a bit behind us before they started letting cars in. I guess they opened the lot about 10:10-10:15.....

Here is a pic of the line of cars waiting to make the left into the lot

I was watching from our stateroom after embarkation, and I was amazed at the number of cars that sneak into the line from the right.
Boarding seems to typically start some time between 11:45 and 12:15. I've seen it as late as 1 p.m., but that is not the norm. It's usually at least by 12:30, if not before.

A friend of ours is supposed to take us from the hotel to the ship. We do have reservations with the hotel shuttle just in case he doesn't take us. My question is... can he go inside the terminal with us to visit until it is time for us to go onboard? Thanks for your help!

Unless they've changed it, Disney wouldn't even let a car into their parking area unless everyone inside was booked on the cruise. I was told they have the tightest security in the business.

Please correct me if I'm worng. I'm only going by what we were told...but our car only had my family in it and we were all boarding.

There is a "drop off" area where your friends will be able to drop you off. No one is allowed into the terminal without cruise documents.

Please realize that all the times in these posts are based on a "normal" cruise where the cruise before got into port on time and cleared customs on time. These are the times stated by DCL and when things usually happen. However, if the cruise ahead of you is late getting in for any reason, or has any hold up thru Customs & Immigration....your entire boarding process can be delayed.
