Hi Everyone!
Just joined DVC and am very excited. Have been to Disney many times but I am thinking of going down either the first 2 weeks in December or mid January..I have two small children and need the smallest lines!!!! (don't we all?) has anyone been these times and what do you think would be best?
Thanks

We went for our honeymoon in Jan 2000 and this year for our anniversary with 2 small children- 4 and 2. It was wonderful both times! We were there over MLK weekend and the crowds were a little heavy at Epcot on Sunday because of a large church group of teenagers, but it did not affect us at all. Other than that we never waited for more than 20 minutes for rides- we did use FP for Soarin. You may want to check into refurbishments, but if you have a DVC, you know you will be returning! The weather is cool, but we left 20 degrees, so anything felt good to us. And it does warm up during the day- high 70s most days. Becuase if DH's work, we have to travel in the winter and we love WDW in January!

First of all welcome home fellow DVCer! We have been in both January and December and I must say I'm torn as to which to recommend but I think if you're biggest concern is lines I would go with January hands down. We were there several years ago during the week including the MLK holiday. It was great! We lucked out with a really warm week (although I know that's not always the case) and the crowds were fine. Two weeks, I'm jealous!

We've been both times and I really don't know which I would prefer. We went the 1st week of Dec and lines were short. We've also been in mid Jan and early Feb. I would avoid MLK if you can just to eliminate a bit of crowds.

I think I enjoyed the Dec best just because there seemed to be more of the holiday spirit around. The decorations stay up for a little while into early Jan but in Dec it seemed everyone was wearing a Christmas hat..it was sooo fun.

Either choice should be just fine..enjoy!!!

My brother and his family went after the first of the year, and they said there that the lines were not that long. :cool1:

I agree that is the best time to go. The weather is nice and the crowds are light.

We took our DD when she was 2.5 at the very end of January. It was a wonderful time to go as we had minimal lines most of our trip, even on weekends. It was our favorite time to go & we have gone in November, December, May & June before. The only bad thing about January can be the weather. On our trip we spent 3 days in heavy winter coats, hats & gloves. But for me, I'll take that vrs. the lines. Especially with young children. And we were told the week before we arrived it was in the mid 80's. So you can never predict that weather anyways! :sunny:

We are trying out end of October this year, but I expect I'll be missing those end of January lines when we go! Just stay away from MLK holiday- it can get crowded that weekend!
