Timandlesley's The Sum of Our Thrills TR w/ tons of pics&video 9/27 PTR link pg.58

what a great day at HS! love the video....so cute!

It’s funny, because we were happy she took this one. See the guy in the glasses in the photo. He was this gentleman who was there by himself, a HUGE Disney lover (obviously) as he was talking to anyone and everyone in the line about the ride, his excitement, etc. (he had some sort of learning disorder, as sweet as sweet can be). Well, Tim struck up a conversation with him- Tim: “I see you have a Figment pin, do you love Figment”
The guy: “Well, yes I do, I love that ride and that park, I was IN the park the day it opened” and he proceded to pull a gold certificate out of his fanny pack that he was given on the park opening, COOL!!!!

such a cool story!

The new ride add on’s were great (not going to spoil it for you but it involves your own image).

i'm really hoping they make this at least semi-permanent and feature it again sometime down the road. this is my favorite ride at disney and i'd really love seeing the additions. but seeing as i'm 7 months pregnant, even if i did make it down there this summer i couldn't see them for myself!

the kids were so sweet to give tim the royal treatment on father's day! :goodvibes

What a brilliant day and I can't think of a more perfect way to spend Father's Day.

Tim is braver than my husband, if anyone gets within a metre of his feet :lmao:

Looking forward to the next installment and also your review of the Segway Tour:thumbsup2

PS Laurens braids look fab, wish I could do that!

What a GREAT day and what an AWESOME father's day for Tim! I completely LOL when I read/saw Lauren washing his feet before the foot rub....LOVE it! What a girl!!:lmao:

Getting all caught up...I started work this week so no Dis'ng:sad1:

Anyways, sorry your server at O'Hana was so bad. That always stinsk when that happens. The family and couple pictures before dinner came out really good.

Your day at DHS looks like it was a great day minus the rain. How sweet of your kids to treat Tim to an in room spa experience.

I am looking forward to seeing how Tim liked the Segway tour...we did that 3 yrs ago and really enjoyed it.

Happy 12th Anniversary! Hope you had a great weekend!

Hi again Lesley! I was going to post this on your other thread but I see it's closed now. I just finished reading your Girls only trip report and I'm trippin' because I'm pretty sure we were there with you!! What an awesome trip to two had and one day I hope to do this....:lovestruc

At first when I read your TR header and saw the date of 5/5 I thought that was your last date until I realized it was the last update. I started putting bits together after I saw your lunch at the Plaza. When I saw the picture of the 100th family they looked very familiar and I sort of remember them because they were from our home town. Well, when I was reading this part, it brought back a flash back of when I was in there I remember looking at someone (you?!) and thinking this person looked very familiar and at the time I did think it was you but I said to myself, "no that can't be here she doesn't have her family with her". Little did I know you were on your first girls trip if it is/was you!! :rotfl:

I started piecing together your comments about the Cheerleaders, the skimping clothing (we saw crazy outfits all week) and the EPCOT transportation issue but the Plaza is what did it.

So, we were there 4/21 - 4/26 and would have been at the Plaza for lunch on Fri, 4/23 - were you there too?? :rotfl2: When we were out front waiting on our table, one of my DS's after school teachers walked right by us so we were already thinking what a small world it was!

Anyway - how cool is that! I'll have to see if you're in the background of any of my pictures that day in the MK or the Plaza. I didn't take too many in the Plaza that time since the refurb walls made it a little dark.

Too funny...
Heather

Hi Lesley! Had a few days to catch up on, I've been on vacation the last week. Sure looks like you all had a wonderful trip to Disney! I'm excited to read about Tim's experience on the Segway - I think that sounds like such a fun thing to try!! Perfect day, besides the rain, at DHS! And what wonderful impromptu Fathers Day presents! :)

/
What a a great Father's Day.....Love that you went on your favorites at HS and headed home!!! Even beat the rain!!
What a happy day!!!

I really am looking forward to hearing about the segway tour...I so want to do one of those one day!!!

Lesley - Great trip report so far! Can't wait to read more! We are heading to the World in November and will be renting DVC points and staying at AKL. We're also seeing Blue Man Group on Thanksgiving Day, front row. Can't wait! Not only that but we are staying at the Nick Hotel for 1 night too to celebrate my son's birthday. He's been begging to go there since he saw it on our first trip a year and a half ago. I had a few questions.

For the character breakfast at the Nick Hotel, did you have to make special reservations for that or is that just something that all resort guests get to attend?

Also, the day that we are at the Nick Hotel is the day that we are going to Blue Man Group. We are seeing Blue Man Group at 9pm so I am guessing we need to leave to head over there at 7pm (if we want to see the City Walk) or 8pm. So if we had to leave at 7pm, do you think that is enough time to still get to do a lot of the fun shows at Nick Hotel? We'll be there about 10am that morning so we'll have all day. The kids will for sure want to be slimed and that show that Tim was picked to put on the underwear looked cool. Just wondering what your thoughts were on us heading out that evening and if you had any advice for us?

Thanks a ton!

Sounds like a great DHS day and a really nice Father's day for Tim. Can't wait to hear about the segway tour ... what a neat idea !

I love the kids Father's day gifts to Tim, very sweet.

Playing catch up here. just got back from a wonderful, hot 6 days in the World.

O'hana's - I have had a great experience, castle view for fireworks, great service etc. and I have had a less than magical experience, slow service ( over 2 hours for dinner, seriously). So this time is the tie breaker.

If the meal is pre plated, how in the world can the service be slow? My first meal was just my daughter and me, so when we went as a family, my husband did not understand what the problem was. Painfully slow service and I can't really rememeber but something to do with the hot towels and the wings. Wrong order maybe? She may have brought the towels out before the wings and took them away before we finished the wings? :confused3 All I remember is that we alomost missed the fireworks on the beach and I was having an unmagical moment there because of it.

Happy Anniversary!! Hope you are having a blast in NJ.

I'm late but here!! I've been so busy in real life but knew you were back and couldn't wait to start reading. I got all caught up today. I LOVED the Nick hotel surprise video. The kids' faces were priceless. :)

Great, great updates and what a wonderful trip so far. Tim had an awesome Father's Day thanks to awesome kids and an awesome wife. What a great day!

Great TR, found it last night and just finished today. We will also be staying at AKL (DVC) in January (our first AKL). Was your room the "value studio"? I thought I read that the Value Studios are in the main building at AKL, is that correct?

Just caught up with all your posts. I love the front of RNRC, Luke looks so happy to be in the front too. Such a great morning at DHS. What a great score on TSM. Just back from DL, and I can't believe that there are no FP for TSM. Someone said that they are getting rid of them at WDW.:scared1::scared1::scared1: I have never heard that, have you?

Your kids were so sweet to Tim on Father's day, looking forward to hearing about the Segway Tour.

What a great Father's Day so far for Tim! Your kids are the sweetest! :lovestruc You really did get a good bit done despite the late arrival and rain. :thumbsup2

I'm looking forward to hearing how Tim liked the segway tour. DH did it in 2007 and absolutely loved it!
Yeah, he had a good day.I was amazed at all we got in that morning, it was great! I will have Tim write the segway review, he LOVED it!

What a great DHS morning! Sometimes, you just have to sleep in. And you got a lot done in one morning.

The segway tour is such a great gift.
Yeah, it was nice sleeping in and still getting everything done.

What a special Fathers Day!!

The kids are so sweet to do all that for Tim...:)

Have a great weekend!
Yeah, the kids were super sweet. Thanks!

What a wonderful Father's Day for Tim. The kids looked like they really enjoyed pampering him. Enjoy your Anniversary weekend. Can't wait to hear about it :).
The kids were so nice to think of that and of course Tim enjoyed it too : )

What a nice Father's Day so far. Your kids sound so sweet. I know Tim appreciated their thinking of him. I can't wait to hear how Tim liked his Segway Tour. I think it would be a really fun thing to do. My husband would have chosen to sleep late for as well. I'm glad you still got a lot done.

Happy Anniversary and congratulations on 12 years.
It was a great Father's Day. Tim loved it, I'll have him write the review. Thank you!
Hiya Lesley!

This TR is AWESOME! You have given me some ideas about my trip in Nov - 1st time home thanks to you for giving us Derek!

I added getting pixie dusted for my birthday while in MK! *blushes*

I have SO enjoyed your trip...your family is BEAUTIFUL and I cant wait to read more! :goodvibes
Hello!!!! Welcome Home!!! (again), so happy for you, DVC is such fun, can't wait for your first trip home in November, isn't Derek the greatest!?! Thank you, glad you are enjoying the trip report.

What a lovely FD! Can't wait to hear how they enjoyed the Segway tour.
Tim will write a review, he loved it!
What a special Father's Day! Your kids are so sweet....coming up with those ideas on their own? Wow! The Segway Tour was a great gift...can't wait to hear about that experience! My DH and I are going to be going on a Segway Tour on our upcoming trip...

Luke was such a good sport when being chosen to participate in the show!

Love Lauren's self-portrait!

Sounds like you had a great morning at DHS!!! :yay:
It was a great day, you will love the tour, now I want to do it myself. Glad you loved Lauren's self portrait it cracked me up!

Hooray for sleeping in! Good for you guys!

You are a GREAT wife! What an AWESOME surprise!!!

ou guys had some seriously fine Disney mojo going on this day!

I remember the drama of your volunt'ear' day... I'm so glad it was all worth it!!

What is it about that kid? He gets picked for lots of stuff. Have you considered taking him to a Disney Channel casting call?! Love the video, too!

I can feel his pain!
I know, Luke is on a ROLL with being picked for things, such fun to watch him in those moments.

You got some great shots! Just love that show, too. Glad the storm didn't affect it.

Not me!

Gah! I have to wait another YEAR to find out about it. Sure hope they still have the add ons when I get there!
I love that show too. I hope they do too!

So happy that Tim picked a great park and you got to do all of your favorite things that day!

Oh my goodness.. that is SO sweet! You have such wonderful children!

Awesome update, Lesley!
Thanks, they sure were sweet to him on his day.

Aw! How very sweet of the kids! I bet you were a very proud Momma during all that!

What a fantastic Father's Day - lots of fun at DHS, great times with the family and a massage.

I look forward to Tim's review of the Segway Tour! We did that years ago and LOVED it, I hope he did too!
Yes, I was a proud mom, they were so sweet. Yes, he LOVED it, can't wait for him to tell you all about it.

Yay for sleeping in

Sounds like you still got quite a lot done.

Your kids are so sweet

Can't wait to hear about Tim and Bryan's adventure on the segway..should be interesting :rotfl:
Yes, we got a LOT done, it was a fabulous day. Was a great time for them, coming up next.
Sounds like Tim had a great Father's Day. I can't believe you got so lucky with the crowd levels at DHS! It seems like every time we go there it's Brazilian Tour Group day.

I can't wait to hear about the Segway tour!
He certainly did. We had several Brazilian tour groups too, so hard to deal with, that's what happened our first DHS day. Segway tour review up next.

What a great update!!! I'm sure Tim was so excited about his father's day gift! how Cool! We are turning in our vouchers for Give a Day Get a Day next month! I hope we get cute little pins to wear!
Tim was excited. Awesome about your vouchers, they should give you the pins automatically but if they don't go ahead and ask ; )

I can't believe how much you got done for sleeping in! Major mojo happening especially when you waited 45 min for TSM! So cool that you met the Disney history guy in line! We met the very first DVC members on our cruise last month. It's true, if you are nice to people, you never know who you might end up talking to!:goodvibes
I can't believe it either, it was a GREAT day! Cool about the first DVC members, you are right, NEVER know who you will meet if you take the time to talk to people.

Great updates!

Sounds like a fun meal once again at O'Hanas...too bad for that poor service though. But that line about "You want some HOT TOWELS???"....too funny!!!:rotfl:

What a great day at HS! Sounds like a perfect Father's Day!:goodvibes

And finally....HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Glad you enjoyed the updates. Thank you for the anniversary wishes.

Loved the update!
Thanks!
I'm impressed with how much you got done not being there at rope drop! And what sweet kids! That was so nice of them to take care of their dad like that.

Terri
I know, you and me both, I couldn't believe it, what a great day. Thanks, the kids loved doing it.

Luke's video was really funny, I love those street performers!!

What are all these TSM secrets that you speak of?? I need to know to beat my brother!
I love those performers too. For the TSM secrets, do a Youtube search, it won't help you beat your brother though, you HAVE to work as a team in your car, that is the secret, it only works with two people working together.

I know!! I was wondering that too!
See above : )

My kids LOVE playing with the instruments in the AKL gift shop.
How can you resist, right??

Hey that is a great way to spend Father's Day! Sounds like you all enjoyed your DHS morning for sure! And how fun for your young man to be part of the entertainment! Very cool! The different performers are so much fun.
Yes, we really enjoyed our morning. Love the street performers!!!

Hi Lesley! I just stumbled on your new trip report and what a nice surprise! As many other faithful readers and DISers have stated...your trip reports are a real treat to read! You have a truly beautiful family and it's so refreshing! I showed my DS (almost 7) the Nick Hotel pictures and he has NOT stopped talking about it! He is a big Spongebob fan and thought everything was so cool! Are you able to request a certain suite (such as Spongebob)? I think we'll add this to the plans one year when we decide to throw in a visit to see Harry Potter and Universal Studios....

I also enjoyed your tribute to Tim - how very sweet! :lovestruc You said everything beautifully. We had our 13 year anniversary this year and I was just telling my DH that we should plan a trip to Italy for our 15 year anniversary. He's always wanted to go there and I used to live there (high school) so I'd love to bring him. We'll see... :)

Thanks for sharing with us and Happy Anniversary!

Heather
Hi Heather, so glad you found us and that you enjoy the TR. Yes, you can request a certain suite at the Nick Hotel, the spongebob ones cost a teenie bit more though. Enjoy Universal, that is our plan for next year after our Disney cruise, can't wait! Happy Anniversary to you as well, Italy would be WONDERFUL!

This post was fun to read!! thanks for sharing.. got a lot of info on the Nick hotel.. thinking of visiting there next year too!
So glad you enjoyed it. Nick hotel is such fun!

First of all, let me say CONGRATULATIONS to you and Tim! In these times, that is quite a feat to be married twelve years, and still in love with each other.
What nice kids you have! They really love their daddy. ;)
Thanks so much, we are truly blessed.

what a great day at HS! love the video....so cute!

such a cool story!

Hi Dawn, you guys are getting so close to the arrival of Seth, how exciting. I hope they do too, don't know why they would take that away, it's super cool.
What a brilliant day and I can't think of a more perfect way to spend Father's Day.

Tim is braver than my husband, if anyone gets within a metre of his feet

Looking forward to the next installment and also your review of the Segway Tour:thumbsup2

PS Laurens braids look fab, wish I could do that!
Glad you enjoyed it, it was a wonderful day. Tim loved his tour, he'll write about it in the next installment. I wish I could braid her hair that way too, thank God for Diane!

Your family is adorable as always! Alyways enjoy your reports. Congrats to 12 awesome years. ;)

Can't wait for more!
Thanks so much, glad you enjoy them!
What a GREAT day and what an AWESOME father's day for Tim! I completely LOL when I read/saw Lauren washing his feet before the foot rub....LOVE it! What a girl!!:lmao:
Thanks. I know, wasn't that too funny, she cracks me up, so giving and sweet.

Well I'm glad you found some time for the Dis, found us and got caught up. DHS was a great day. He loved the tour, more on that coming up. We had a great anniversary, thank you!

Heather, that is TOO funny!!!! Yes, that would be me, I was there for lunch with Diane that day, it was our first meal of the trip, SUCH A SMALL WORLD!!!!
Hi Lesley! Had a few days to catch up on, I've been on vacation the last week. Sure looks like you all had a wonderful trip to Disney! Looks like you are having an awesome anniversary trip! So happy for you all!:goodvibes
Yes, we are having a great vacation. Thanks!

What a a great Father's Day.....Love that you went on your favorites at HS and headed home!!! Even beat the rain!!

Hi, so glad you are enjoying the TR. You will love the Nick Hotel. You have to make reservations for the character breakfast and you should for the shows too. The earliest show for the Nick Hotel was 6:30 so you would be cutting it close for blue Man but I think the show only lasted 1/2 an hour so you should be o.k. They have shows at the pool too, and the slimings are at the pool in the morning and early evening. You will love blue man group, such fun!

Sounds like a great DHS day and a really nice Father's day for Tim. Can't wait to hear about the segway tour ... what a neat idea !

I love the kids Father's day gifts to Tim, very sweet.
It was a great day. Thanks!

Happy Anniversary!! Hope you are having a blast in NJ.
Hope you had a great trip. I agree with the service issues, such a bummer!!! We aren't in New Jersey yet, but we are on vacation, I'm posting an update here soon.

Welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video, it was such fun surprising them.

Great TR, found it last night and just finished today. We will also be staying at AKL (DVC) in January (our first AKL). Was your room the "value studio"? I thought I read that the Value Studios are in the main building at AKL, is that correct?
Glad you found us and are enjoying it. No, we had a standard view room, that is of the pool, a value studio can be anything from partial savannah to parking lot.

Gotta love front of RNRC, wish I was riding that now! Can't wait to go to DL some day, there isn't!?! I sure hope they aren't!!! That would be awful! Tim loved the tour, more on that soon.

Sorry for the delay in postings guys. We are on a family vacation in Michigan right now having a BLAST.:cool1::dance3::yay::woohoo: Lots of beach time, ice cream, walks on the boardwalk, trolley rides and quality family time. We will be back for about 5 days before heading to New Jersey to spend a week with Diane and their family. We are thrilled to be heading out there, they stayed with us over New Years this past year and we are ready to enjoy their home town and are super excited for a trip to New York City for the day. Tim and Luke have tickets to a Yankee game at Yankee stadium (dream come true for them) and Lauren is THRILLED I have promised her a trip to the American Girl doll store for her very first (probably only) American Girl Doll. Should be a great time. I will get an update up in between vacations and then when we get back from Jersey I'll unfortunately have school starting back up in a few weeks :scared1: so I'll try to wrap up the report before that.

I live in NYC! I wish you were here longer than a day and we could do a DIS meet!! But, only a day - that gets sucked away SO quickly...enjoy every moment! I look forward to the pics. :goodvibes

Enjoy the rest of your vacation! And have a great time in NJ with Diane and her family. Tim and Luke are going to have such a great time at the Yankee game. The stadium is amazing!
