I mentioned my formerly upcoming but now completed trip to British Columbia. However, I suppose the thing I learned to appreciate was Tim Hortons. They were ubiquitous, including a block or two away from a couple of hotels, in shopping malls, or near various places we visited. I didn't necessarily like the in-room coffee at some hotels, and Tim Hortons coffee was pretty easy to drink black without being bland. That and Timbits plus the breakfast sandwiches. We also had the Canadian back bacon sandwich. Seemed almost like an Egg McMuffin.

Certainly around here there are no ubiquitous chain donut shops. There's Krispy Kreme, but locations are scattered. There used to be a regional chain called Winchell's, but that's gone. I kind of wish there was a chain around here that would be reliable.

Oh - and I found out this:

I'm not sure what they carry. I suspect it's not the same as would be expected north of the border. All three locations (Oakland, Fremont, San Jose) are at ice rinks operated by the San Jose Sharks. I believe the Sharks practice at the location in San Jose. I suppose it makes sense.

I live outside of Buffalo NY, and we have a Timmy Hos on every corner. My teenage daughter works at one. I am addicted to their coffee, muffins and bagels. I think their donuts are just ok. Everyone around here arrives at work with a TH cup in hand. You'd never catch me with a Starbucks or Dunkin Donut coffee.

Timmy Ho's? Please tell me it's not called that.

We always called it T Ho's!

I loooove their coffee. But not the iced, or their iced caps. Bleach.

i live in the niagara falls/buffalo new york are and there's one on about every corner and they are full service.
i actually just had a breakfast sandwich this morning from timmy ho hos.

i'm not a coffee drinker but i do love their hot chocolate.
and yeah tim bits are yummy.

:scared::sad2::eek: Nooooo!! There are Canadians from coast to coast to coast gasping and clutching their pearls at the very thought of someone calling THs that. Tims, yes. Timmys, OK. Timmy Ho's??? Shudder.

I'll takea Tims large double double over Starbucks any day. And their new(ish) dark roast is even better.

I grew up in Flint, MI - we "ghettofied" everything. Also, it made my friends mom who was from Canada crazy :)

And Agreed - their coffee is 10x better than sbux, but their iced caps can't compete with a frappuccino IMO.

I was reading that they set up full service locations in the St Louis area, and already had stands in the arena where the Blues play.

However, I'm starting to think that it's false advertising to say they have locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. I read some reviews, and they state that the only Tim Hortons stuff they have is the coffee, but it's otherwise a rather generic greasy-spoon snack bar. This is the photo of the setup in Oakland:

Just curious and somewhat bored so I checked obvious places using their store locator. They're listing isolated locations like Glendale, AZ at the Gila River Arena (where the Coyotes play) and Tampa, FL at the Forum (where the Lightning play). So I guess they want to associate themselves with hockey.

well they are canadian based and canada loves their hockey (well buffalo loves our hockey as well considering that 17,000 fans showed up for the sabres on sabres game today).
plus hockey arenas are quite chilly so the coffee and hot chocolate are a big hit.

Yes!!! Lol! I just gasped and shuddered! :scared: In our town it's 'Timmys'!! Love the double double!!

Well yeah. And I guess Tim Horton did play in the NHL.

You guys are making me laugh! I had no idea Timmy Hos was disrespectful in the least. That's what everyone around here calls it. It's said with the utmost love and tenderness, I swear!

I live in mid-Michigan and we have a Tim Horton's or a Biggby's on every corner. Oddly, I think there's only one Starbucks in town.

I don't drink coffee but I love Tim Horton's donuts & frozen hot chocolate and a nearby one is combined with a Coldstone Creamery so it gets a lot of my business.:)

I just sent my husband to pick me up a Mocha Latte from Tim Hortons. I live in North Dakota and we just got one a year or so ago. We also have a stand inside our college hockey arena. I've never tried any of the food though only the donuts.

In my hometown we called Howard Johnsons Hotel "Ho Jo's" but that was because they were not in the business of selling coffee. :rolleyes1

If you live anywhere near an NHL rink, more than likely, in that arena, there's something to do with Tim Horton's. Not all, but most.

Interesting tidbit... Tim Horton's is owned by Burger King.

Yes, BK bought them out about a year ago.
