Tim and Lesley Year of Million Compromises/TONS pics- 8/5 help me pg. 164!!!

The meatloaf was just YUCK...:scared: I would stay away from it. And I love meatloaf...love it.

The only reason we did it again this trip was to see the Princess Ladies. It by far is not my favorite meal taste wise...but memories out do tastes! TGM says don't do breakfasts, so I would skip that, unless you have a down day that you plan on starting it with. The lunch and dinner both have the same food I think.

We had Aurora in the front. Inside was Jasmin, Cindy, Belle, Ariel. The CM's told me that Cindy is coming there more often lately (that was Jan, though). I will be adding it to my TR in a few days, if you want to see the review, I can let you know when it is up.
O.K, so now you have me worried. I wonder if there is anything Tim will eat here. I know I will like the pasta and the kids meals look good but Tim was now told the meatloaf and ribs are yucky which were the only two options. O.K. people, what would you do?? Should I stick with 1900 Park Fare, the sure thing??? I need your help here!!! We loved 1900 Park Fare, Lauren loved seeing Cindy, the food was incredible, I wanted to try something new and see more princesses this time around, what would you do??:confused3

I know I (and probably others) have whined about this before but....:sad2: What will it take for Disney to have a Boy's meal???? I know they did a trial last year but that seems to have gone no where. Bummer! I know my DS would love it and from your stories, I'll bet Luke would too.
I know, I know, I was on that major thread that started when we thought it was going to be a Toy Story meal at MGM then it turned into the Playhouse Disney meal, I was bummed. I was hoping they would do Power Rangers or something- I mean, come on, they are right there. For Star Wars Weekends how cool would it be to do a boys Star Wars Breakfast, SOMETHING PEOPLE. Luckily at Luke's young age he doesn't complain too much with the one princess meal we do because for 1900 Park Fare he loved the Mice and Cindy doted on him which he thought was cool but the complaints are starting to come and it will be harder and harder every year. I always try to balance it out with one Princess meal and one Mickey meal, but wish I could do a boys meal!!!

Lesley- I was hoping they'd do a "boy" themed meal. I asked when I made my ADR and the cm told me they've had alot of requests for it. Well, why not do it then???!!! Anyways, I posted on here a while ago and had my 3 day trip/4 day Wonder booked but cancelled it when I snagged the free dining which was being offered at the same time I was going (your trip report had me wanting to go to WDW for the whole week anyways!) I made all of my ADR's and joined TGM per you recommendations. His site is a little confusing so I need to navigate it some more. I am looking forward to eating at Asherkus for dinner with my dd, I did get a table at CRT but cancelled bc of all of the bad food reviews I read. We ate at 1900 Park Fair for breakfast before and it was REALLY good food but I want all new places this time.

It would be awesome to have a character dining experience for the boys..
However, I think that my husband would totally freak to be able to dine with the Star Wars characters....:cloud9:

I agree, they were SO close last year with the Toy Story meal that they were actually casting for it and everything then in the prep phases something happened with copyright or something with Pixar so it never happened, I WAS SO BUMMED!
If yo uneed help with TGM I'd be happy to help, PM me with some questions if you have them. We loved 1900 Park Fair for dinner. I am REALLY worried about Asherkus and am considering cancelling, I just don't want Tim to have a miserable meal, cause then we'll all be miserable :rotfl: ;)

I have so enjoyed your trip report and it makes me more excited to go in may. We have been many times before but for some reason this time is by far the most exciting. Your children are beautiful and i know you are so proud of them. I hope your next trip is as exciting as the last one with less rain and sickness of course! Thank you again for sharing your trip and your family.:thanks: :thumbsup2

I would ask Tim to take one for the team, so to speak and eat at Askerhaus. :) Of the 2 meals I would choose the ribs. Based on the fact that may have had a poor cut of meat when I ate them, they would be the better option. The meatloaf thingy just was not good. My DH who loves just about everything you put in front of him, also thought it was not good. But the ribs forsure had the flavor to be good. I just had extremely fatty ones. I bet Tim would be much more happy if he was aware of the choices and potental meal woes prior to stepping front into Askerhaus.:)

Your girl would love this place. One of the reasons we all go to WDW is for the kiddos. Make sure you camera is armed with enough battery power (mine died...but I had a back up).

Another option would be to have your guys do a meal somewhere else, while the girls have a special mommy/daughter meal.:cloud9:

Hey Lesley, I was reading how Luke and Tim are really into Star Wars, my boys are too. On Friday I was at Target and at the dollar spot they had tons of Star Wars stuff, notepads, pens, wallets, markers, stickers and a few other things. I thought they would be great for the plane ride.:) I usually try to buy a few cheap surprise items for their backpacks when we travel...just thought I would mention it:wizard:

Wow - I am only on page 14 & I feel like I know you so well already. Your family actually sounds alot like mine. I have been getting inspired to start my own pre-trip report but was thinking its too early since we aren't going until December but all the anticipation is growing inside of me....I might just start it sooner than I think....

Well, a student of mine went to Disney over Spring Break and they did the Princess dinner at Askerhaus and they LOVED IT!!! Said there was Cinderella, Aurora, Belle, Ariel and Snow White, Lauren's FAVORITES!!! I checked the menu today and they had spare ribs for Tim stuff I would eat and the kids meals look good, so I cancelled 1900 Park Fare (since we already did this last year and loved it, trying something new) for the 19th and now we'll be at Askerhaus that night for a 6:35 reservation, I told Lauren and she is thrilled!
Anyone been? Did you like it?
I'm sure there will be more changes. The other thing I'm worried about is a friend of mine from work who was there over break said they ate at Wolfgang Puck Cafe and they had bad service due to being on the dining plan, food just o.k. and they sat in plastic chairs, this has me thinking. any thoughts anyone??
Lesley
Anyone

Enjoy reading your ideas and suggestions! :goodvibes

Just wondering what are you thoughts on Hollywood & Dine breakfast. Was hoping to do a adr around 10 or 11 so we would still have time in the park that morning, but also get breakfast because the food sounded good.

Do you think if we did an adr around 11 that the breakfast food would still be fresh and stocked or would they be getting ready for the lunch crowd?

Would we be better doing an earlier adr?

I will be traveling with dh, dd 7 and ds 4 in Oct 07.

Thanks for your help and enjoy your trip.

For younger ones this would be good, wish they went with the boy meal, but oh well. Lauren would like this but our Luke wouldn't so we are skipping - heard great things about it though so you should have a great time. Personally I would go for the earliest ADR possible, probably 8:00 or 8:05, we do this for all breakfasts in the parks. You get in before the park is open which is so cool, then aftter breakfast you are in the gates as others are just being let in so you get to the rides first, GREAT way to start off the day in my oppinion. Have fun!

Well, we read this at the same time today, me up here on my pc and Tim downstairs on the laptop. I laughed and said "yeah, he needs to take one for the team" next thing I know Tim said "Les, get down here and read this" he LOVED your suggestion about the boys meal and girls meal so we went with that. I am actually quite excited about it. Tim sat down with Luke and they decided they want to go to Whispering Canyon cafe, a family favorite we are missing this year by not staying at the WL, so we will split at Epcot and Lauren and I will stay and Luke and Tim will hop on the bus from Epcot to the WL, Luke and Tim are excited and Lauren and I are thrilled, should be a fun night. THANKS FOR THE IDEA :thumbsup2 (this pre-trip thing is great, should have done this last time around)

Thanks for the heads up, that is a GREAT idea, haven't been to Target this week.
Lesley

We did this in October. DD and I went to the GF for afternoon Tea after reading about it on so many TR's. DH and DS went to the ESPN Club, and then we met up in Epcot afterwards. It was wonderful for everyone. Hope y'all enjoy it.

I am working on my packing list too. Perhaps a few things to add for the parks is a change of clothes for the kids or bathing suits in case they want to get wet. And towel(s) which double as a "blanket" to wrap them up in at night if they get cold. Also dont forget the sunscreen for during the day. Also, I use baby wipes all the time even clean up adult hands! Someone suggested to me not to lug around tour/guide books. I am mixed on this. All's I know is my "day bag" is too heavy.:confused3

Great idea to make copies of tickets.;)

Glad to hear it worked out for you guys too, I really am looking forward to it, should be fun. Only problem is one camera, oh well, it's coming with me and Lauren ;)

Actually I should have clarified, that's what I'll put in my bag in the suitcase. For the parks, I will steal your towel idea for at night time. For sunscreen, we put that on before we leave the hotel, I never take the tour guide books. All that is in my bag is juice boxes, a few bottles of water, we grab maps at the parks, camera, wet wipes are a good idea, this is the first year I don't need those due to Lauren being potty trained:banana: . We then have another backpack that has our poncho's in it as well. I try to keep it to a minimum.
As for teh copies of tickets, I unfortunately know this from experience. This year we have a package so it doesn't need to be done. HOWEVER (time for a funny story) 3 trips ago when Luke was 3 and Lauren was 8 months and we stayed at POP, we booked hotel seperately and bought tickets seperately. I read on mousesavers to copy the front and backs of tickets because if they got lost that is the only way you could replace them. Fast forward to first morning at Disney, we are leaving the hotel, I have the stroller, everything ready to go, smiling from ear to ear ready for our first day in the parks. . . "Tim you have the tickets right?" . . .TOTAL look of panic in Tim's eyes:sad2: . . . .mad dash to the room safe. . . .TOTAL look of panic in my eyes and of course a "YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME:confused3 " remark.

Well, he had LEFT THEM IN THE SCANNER AT HOME, he was making copies of them, WE HAD THE COPIES fortunately but no tickets. I couldn't believe it. We high tailed it to the front desk at POP copies in hand and they told us we were in luck, since we had copied them they could replace them at the front counter of the park. We took them to customer service at MGM and they gave us replacement tickets.
Unfortunately that wasn't the ONLY time we lost tickets this trip, we also left Luke's ticket in a Fast Pass machine this trip and they replaced that for us at the front gate due to the copies as well, TONS OF BAD luck that trip, but oh well. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS copy your tickets if you purchased them separately . . . .just be sure to bring the tickets too and put them in separate places (like, not at home in your scanner:laughing: )
Lesley

OMG! I can't believe he left the tickets at home. I could just see me now giving DH the look of death. Remember copy of the tickets - check.

We actually never left ours in a FP machine, but we have got FP's, looked at the tickets later and they were invalid FP's. We had to go back in line scan the tickets again. Now, I remember check FP tickets immediately.

We don't pack much in the day bag as well. Just autograph books, water bottles, an umbrella (DH is too cool for a poncho), poncho's, kids sunscreen, and a couple snacks. When the kids are hungry, it is so much easier to tie them over with a granola bar then listen to them wine while we are waiting in a long line for food. I always leave the bag in the stroller. I have a fanny pack that I only use in WDW for the camera, tickets, money, and car keys. I could not imagine usng it all the time, just Disney.

O.K. everyone, on your feet, it's dancing time!!!!

Today marks the 50's, 59 days until our 10 day Disney vacation!!!!!
:dance3: :yay: :cool1:   :cool1: :dance3: :yay: :cool1:

Thanks for the dance
Lesley
