There is probably another thread about this somewhere, but I was wondering about the Tiki Room: Under New Management. I have been on this ride several times and have not really enjoyed myself. It does not look like the ride is that popular anymore. Has there been any report about Disney changing this ride to something else or is it more popular than I think?

The ORIGINAL Tiki show at MK was nearly deserted much of the time.
There were always "Walk-Outs" during that old show.

The ETR:UNM shows seem to hold the audience more (fewer walk-outs) than the "old" show.

But "wiggling birds" are not such a novelty in this age of high-tech.

And seriously... (statistically speaking) NOBODY under the age of 50 wants to sing along with "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing".
;)

Call me a loser, but I love the Tiki Birds - original version and the new one. I think it's a good way to get out of the heat and laugh a little. :)

I'm a loser, too. I enjoy the Tiki Room. I liked the old one better, but I still enjoy the new one. It is a refreshing, air-conditioned, sit down fun show. Besides, when you exit, you can get a Citrus Swirl. A family tradition!

Another loser here. I love the Tiki Birds, Under New Managemnt. Iago cracks me up every time. This is one of the few attractions in WDW that I feel is better than it's counterpart in DL.

Here, here in loserville. I love the tikiroom too. In fact my 2 little ones love the "new" version as well.

And now DL has the Tiki Room:UNM, although I've never been to the new one.

Count me in! Although I do have to admit, I did like the old one just a tad better. But I just love the storm scene and the chanting totem poles! My favorite part! My DS's absolutely love the version with Iago though - my DS (6) has to sing the whole thing!

Disneyland still has the original Tiki Room show. I saw it in December. It did, however, undergo a major refurbishment.

I love the New Tiki Birds.. (I barely remember the old version). My family really likes it as well. It's a nice break from the hot sun. Although, the 2 times we've gone the Tiki gods part has freaked out some little tots..

"You are boring Tiki Birds.."

Iago- a Disney character with Shakespearean ties..

Robin
Only 31 more days til we visit the Mouse in his house :cool1:

I loved the old Tiki room. I don't like the new one. DL still has the old version? It would be worth going just to see it.:teeth:

I'm positive I saw the sign there saying it was under new management. I also remember people complaining about the new show. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me.

Tiki Room UNM is an attraction that definately either needs to go or be restored to the far superior original version. The two new birds are out of place and way too big.

I had always watched Magical World of Disney when I was a kid and saw all the specials on the Disney Channel growing up, and I really really wanted to see the Tiki Room the way I remembered seeing it as a kid on TV. I didn't make it to WDW til I was 23 and when I got to ETR: UNM I was a little disappointed. The show was a great break from the sun and it was definitely nice to sit for a while, but overall I was really disappointed that all I heard was the first 3 lines of "In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room" before it was a Gloria Estefan Fest - I don't know if the old one was better, because I never saw it, but I wish I had been able to see it in its former glory...

Ugh! Everytime I think of the Tiki Room I think of that huge Jamaican woman (Tiki God?) coming up in the middle and scaring the bejezuz out of us all! :rotfl2: I hate that thing!!! I can also tell you that my kids don't find her all that cute and cuddly either! :sad2: I feel nostalgic about that attraction as well as the country bears but quite honestly I think they are creepy. Gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about them! princess:

:wave2: Sorry, but I like the Tiki Room. I guess just going in reminds me of when I went with my parents when I was 12...even though it has changed. I am a big fan of the newer technology, but in a busy MK day - I like to sit through this show. Not everything has to be the biggest and best for me to enjoy it, and part of the magic to me is seeing the familiar. It's why I like COP too.

Here we go again................always people out there to revamp or remove a classic Disney attraction. We liked the old version and enjoy the new "Under new Management" show too. Its relaxing, you sit to watch and the imagineering that went into it is second to none. These are the attractions we go to Disney for. Family orientated, laugh out loud fun. I like to watch people leave during the pre-show, thinking its a gip and seeing people get up during the show to leave also. What, you can't sit and wait 20 minutes till its over, in that much of a hurry. Thats the commandos, rushing from one attraction to another to say they did it all in one day but ask them about the landscaping or artistic design or layout and they have no clue.

I have always said and done, relax, take your time seeing WDW, there is too much hidden talent to detail in all thats there. Stopping to smell the flowers and enjoying the beauty of all thats Disney is what we go back for. We find new different hidden escapes on each trip, the parks the resorts and beaches. Its all grand and the Tiki room is an original, with an up grade.

Well, I'm NOT a loser and I love the Tiki Room! :rotfl2: Actually, the rest of you lovers of the Tiki Room are not losers either! :thumbsup2 It makes me a little sad that everything has to be super cutting edge and move a million miles a minute for people to enjoy it. I love the old classics. I even love The Hall of Presidents. Maybe people are afraid they might actually learn something or enjoy something to which they're not accustomed. I can't imagine walking out of any of the classics. I hope they never get rid of the Tiki room. My entire family enjoys it and I hope my children can someday take their kids to it. Okay, there you go...they don't call me TikiGoddess for nothin'! :cool1:
