Tiki Room Fire

Pete I totally agree, my hubby and I would be on the next plane to WDW if they changed the Tiki room back to its original show. Hopefully they will use this opportunity to set the attraction back to its former glory. The tiki gods would be pleased!

Yes, the biggest blunder they made at Epcot was changing Journey into Imagination. Universe of Energy was a close second. I keep hoping that management will finally learn from their mistakes. More recent updates (like Pirates and Haunted Mansion) show a glimmer of hope in my opinion.

Hey, I haven't seen an official announcement from Disney...is the Enchanted Tiki Room still closed because of this?

I am at Disney World right now. Yesterday I asked a CM standing outside the Tiki Room how Iago was feeling. After a bit of conversation, he said he just heard they are going back to the original show, and it would reopen in June.

I don't know what to make of this, but, it seems we have a new rumor.

Why not house it at the Polynesian Resort and make it a dinner show/experience? There it would be given longevity and not always at the risk of closure or being taken over by "new management.

Walt originally conceived this as a Dinner show at Disneyland. As they created it, they determined that it would make a better attraction.

:bounce:It would be nice to see the Enchanted Tiki Room expanded into the dining experience Walt envisioned. But according to Rolly Crump it was Walt who said it wouldn't work because people would never leave! I could see this working (as it will in the Fantasyland "Be our guest" experience) if there are specific reservation times and a continual show loop. Perhaps they could use the same format of counter service during the day and sit down service in the evening perhaps with a different show for each. Heck, they could even bring back the orange bird as a host! I bet many WDW veterans would love to see that! I just hope they return the show to its former glory...

So as in the Tropical Serenade (original) or back to Under New management with Iago? Just want to understand what the CM intended by that comment when they said that.

He meant the Tropical Seranade.

I also went back and asked another CM the same question. He said that they haven't decided yet which way they are going and that it wouldn't reopen until the Summer.

Oh if it did that would make me soooo dang happy I'd do the Happy Dance from the Monorail all the way to Adventureland!! In fact, Ill even volunteer to dress up as the barker bird and squack at everyone to get Into the Tiki Room for a few days if that would help! :)

Things I'm seeing look like it will be the same old "New Management" coming out of the repair. Basically what I was figuring would happen. Darn!

Guess I should source it...find the comment at WDW Magic click here. Later post changes the re-open date to June, but doesn't change the comment about the show being unchanged.
