TigerCheer2009's Lose 30 and Not Gain It Back Plan! (Add comments please!! Welcome!)

Mike made a lot of sense in his post. Carb controlled is great and is the way most people with diabetes live their lives. In fact, one thing I try to follow in addition to my WW points is to keep my meals to 45 carbs total for each meal. That is a sort of standard middle ground for a lot of people with diabetes. It keeps my carbs in control and my diet balanced.

The American Diabetes Association has some great nutrition materials available that will help you learn to count carbs. Call your local office and they should be able to send you some for no charge (or a very small donation). And yes, research, research, research before you make a decision of a plan to follow. Better to know too much than too little!!

"Better to know too much than too little!!"

I like how you think Shauna! :goodvibes

hey tigercheer, Everytime I type your name it makes me smile. It has a :cheer2: to it. You are doing great. It is true with atkins and the weight gain after you get off of it. I knew 4 people who went on it and lost lots of weight and then went off of it and gained it all back. Good luck with your decision and I know that you will make the right decision. I would tend to stick with a calorie counting or WW because you can eat what you want and be happy. :rotfl: Talk to you later. Smiles kardiebelle

Mike-Yes, I actually had ham! I had it for dinner too. :teeth: What's that program you're on? It sounds pretty good...I just need to limit the carbs I intake. You think it keeps YOU hopping? Try living it! It's actually fun, really. The choir nazi got mad a little bit though. I just tried to remember that it was really hot and that it's like 2 weeks till show time and she probably didn't have dinner. And I totally understand what you are saying.

Shauna: I'm looking as we speak, and yes I will do my research. You can send me a virtual bop on the head if I don't discuss my plan with you all first, okay? Thank you! Good ideas!

50 more oz water drank!

D: ham/swiss/tomato sandwich, spaghetti with spicy sauce, 4 ounces milk
S: chicken sandwich

Exercise: 15 minutes of 90 actually spent cheerleading! We talked about camp, upcoming comps, and decorations. Except for I am only doing basketball.

I'm going to break it off with the babysitting kids next week. They will cry and so will I. Will they hate me and not listen to me while I'm there for that last time? It's been getting a lot harder to schedule my sitting with cheerleading camp/practice, (no sitting today), band camp, and soon-to-be school. I just can't give them quality service anymore and that's not fair. I will be up for dog-sitting and occasional jobs, though, but not everyday!!!!
Not to be mean or anything to them but the Daily Queen guy asked me if I wanted a job. It's certainly a step up. I feel bad leaving them. But mom says that Claire is the adult and she can handle herself.

G'night!

Hi also to Kardiebelle! Missed you there...sorry! Thank you. I figured it's true about the weight gain and it not being me. Thank you! Talk to you later. Bye!

So listen tiger cheer,

Do you drink your water during every meal? inbetween meals. You drink about 5 oz a day? or is that at each sitting?

How many ounces do you drink total?

You know Shauna said Atkins is not good. What about South Beach? Don't you eat good carbs?

:goodvibes Hi Purrrrfecta! Welcome to my journal. To answer your questions:

1. I drink my water in between meals and at meals. I learned it kinda keeps me from snacking.

2. My water intake varies each day. I'm trying to aim for 100 ounces, but if I make it, I make it, if I don't I don't and try again tomorrow. Yesterday I got 100 in.

3. I really don't know if I eat good carbs...or even what good carbs are. And Shauna has informed me that Atkins is bad. Thank you for reaffirming that. South Beach might work. I will look into it.

Thanks!

I was looking into new plans from the ADA website and they have this idea called Rate Your Plate. I really like the idea it holds. You take your plate and you "divide" it into quarter sections. 1/4 goes to meat, 1/4 goes to carbs, 1/4 goes to starchy veggies, 1/4 goes to "other" veggies. You can have a small glass of lowfat milk and either fruit or a small roll. I like the idea, but I don't know about combination foods. Like lasagna. What would that be? It's just an idea that I like. What do you all think?

This morning, guess who came to visit me?!?!?! Yep, TOM himself! Great. Abso-tively. :rolleyes:

Anyway:
B: 2 cups cereal, (4), two slices lowcarb toast w/ PB (2) This breakfast has GOT to change...note to self.
L: Like 1/4 slice ham, slice low-fat/calorie swiss, tomato on 2 slices lc bread (3 because 2 slices=70 calories=1 point I think)

Water: 1 liter (33.8 ounces) done.

Exercise: Walk to interview (about 14 minutes, 7 each way, but I'm not counting it!!!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The interview...I interviewed my Pastor for my language arts class. She went to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti and served as a chaplain at Grace Children's Hospital. It really shocked me to see the pictures of the poverty and the unseen beauty of Haiti. We had a nice long chat. It kind of broke my heart to see all of those sick children.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not so good on the scale front, however. Yesterday with me retaining the Atlantic Ocean, I weighed in at "186"-my scale 189. It could be from my not-so-good eating choices too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have a good day everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes
/
S: 1 apple (1), 6 crackers (2), 2 ounces cheese (2)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm doing my South Beach research. I like it...a lot! Thank you for telling me about SB, Purrrrfecta!

I like how it emphasizes good carbs in Phase 2. :)

Exercise: 7 minutes of FIRM 5-day abs, started the tape over again. 2 minutes crunches/pushups/'verticalpushups'

Getting another liter of water done.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bye.

Hey Tiger, drink ya watah!
I must admit I was a little perturbed when I saw her bashing Atkins, but I will admit that it is the most extreme of the low-carb plans. I actually read Protein Power first, I thought it sounded very good, very well researched. South Beach looks good too. I think the most important thing is to cut out as much of the sugar and refined starches as possible, the white bread, white rice, white pasta, fried potatoes, etc. I'm no expert, and I haven't proven anything with it myself yet, but I think that makes sense.
Have a great weekend!
:banana:

Another liter DONE!

S: 100-calorie pak fruit snacks (2), nachos (6...extra cheese)

Did the Firm Power Yoga today (30 minutes, and thank you LuvMyDogs Kim!!!) And ohmygosh I love it! Very soothing. 4 aps/

It's storming. must dash

Don: Thanks for the tips. I am drinking my watah! Gonna fill up the liter again. 33.8+33.8+33.8+16.8 oz bottle=YAY :drinking:

D: 1 taco sloppy joe (3), 1 and a 1/2 twice baked potatoes (each I'm guessing is 4, so 8 in total) My FPS can take care of it!

I moved my Disney trip up to December 05! Hopefully I will be in good shape then!

Tigercheer,
which I could go with you to Disney in Dec. I had such a good time there this summer that is has restored my faith in the "magic" Make sure you have fun. Who are you going with.

What are your weight loss time frames? We are around the same weight/height. I am aiming for 5lbs month until I reach goal. What about you?

aaaahhhh just went downstairs and got some coffee w/hood milk. Do you drink coffee? I drink hot tea as well.
guess I will post this now.
talk to you later

Good morning Purrrrfecta! I will have fun! I promise you I will. I'm going with my family. I'm currently in the 183 zone for weight loss as of right now, and I'd like to lose at least two pounds a week. My first goal is to be in the 170's and holding by August 26th. (First Friday of school starting). I don't drink coffee, or tea either, to tell you the truth! What is hood milk though?

Thanks for popping in! Have a great day!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Note I also had a Fruit and Walnut Salad yesterday...3.5.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am busy planning my BRAINS out as I type. We're going to have these awesome shirts (both long sleeve and short sleeve tee-shirts, hopefully) that are orange, royal blue and (of course!) lime green swirl tie-dye. I want to put a picture of Ohio with a star where we are...then get a picture of Florida and put a star where Orlando is and have arrows going back and forth. On the back it will have "We paid $4000 for accomodations at POP and flights, traveled #of hours to see Mickey for the first time and all we got were these tee shirts!" Sound cool?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bye!
Yes I do...and I will think of you guys everyday! Hopefully meet some other DISers too!
Tiger cheer,
Our first day of school here in Louisville is going to be on the 16th of August. I am a teacher so I have to be back on the 12th. You know the set up day, and a day of professional development.
Hang on in there, girl!
Oh my goodness. That early for both you and the students? When did you get out?
I have homeschooled cousins in the Lexington area...they live on a street called Creekview Court.
You hang in there too!
