Tiger admits to "transgressions"

Anyone see "Chelsea Lately" last night? She was quoting from something, which stated that a large sum was deposited in Elin account and that the pre nup is being redone.

Now this show is comedy so I do not know which is fact and which is fiction. So now off to do some digging. Found where she quoted from.

Also, don't look for Woods' wife, Elin, to be moving out of the couple's Windermere, FL., mansion anytime soon. The links legend's spouse is reportedly being paid a hefty seven-figure amount — immediately transfered into an account she alone controls — to stick with her husband

On top of that, my source indicated Elin Nordegren Woods, the mother of Tiger's two children, has demanded — and is getting — a total rewrite on the couple's prenuptial agreement making the incentives for her to remain Mrs. Tiger Woods even more enticing.

At this point, the couple needed to remain married for 10 years in order for Woods' wife to collect a splitsville settlement of $20 million. I'm being told that time frame has been shortened — and the dollar amount increased "substantially."

• Perhaps most important of all, the Woodses have already begun intense marriage counseling — at their home — with a counselor who has been conducting sessions several times daily.

DO you not follow golf? He is known for his morals and values

I have followed Tiger since he was an amateur golfer. How can you say he is known for his morals/values???

Please site your source for that.

Tiger is known for his skill, his mental toughness, his success, etc.

None of which has to do with morals - and I had no idea of his values - why would I? He is a great golfer - period.

I think this coverage is disgusting!!With everything else going on - THIS is the big news of the week?

Well when you have a Jerry Springer incident you are pretty much hosed.

Jerry....Jerry.....Jerry:rotfl:

Why do you find the coverage "disgusting"? I find Tiger to be stupid with his cheating and therefore he is going to receive a beating in the media.

That is just reality.

Bull!! The reason Nike, gatarode and buick have him down as a sponser is because of his squeaky clean image. It is a combination of the two. Why do you think every body dropped Michael Vick quick fast and in a hurry? Why is T.O. always bouncing from team to team or hasn't gotten the great endorsements.
What about Barry Bonds? He's a fantastic baseball player known for being a nasty individual.
Why do you think there was such a big brooha when Kobe Bryant got caught with his pants down? His agents quickly started pulling out the "he's a great guy" campaign quick, fast and in a hurry.

Celebrities protect their image fiercely because they know it's what brings in alot of dough.
If Tiger had the reputation of being a male gigolo (to put it politely) he would still be a great golfer, no doubt but I do doubt if Wheaties would be so willing to put him on the cover of their box

these people make a boat load of money presenting a certain image. So your saying if Tiger starts beating his wife or if he was OK, just as long as he continues to be the top golfer?

And bottom line if he was simply known for his golfing skills THIS would not be such a big story.

Bull!

If Tiger was not a great golfer, there would be no endorsements PERIOD.

If Tiger was beating his wife - that is criminal and wrong. Sleeping with other women - not so much.

I think there are a lot of unhappy Dis-ers who always seem to derive great joy in other's downfall. There is a word for that Schadenfreude

I think you are wrong. Tiger is still a great golfer, however I think his endorsments will go bye bye. No one is going to want to promte him. He has a bad image now

Michael Vick went to jail.

Kobe Bryant was accused of rape.

Ray Lewis was accused of murder.

Tiger Woods slept around.

BIG DIFFERENCE THERE. Yes, it's wrong but it's not criminal. He just has a hard time keeping his britches up when he's not on the green. What he did sucks, but it's not the same as what those other guys did, whether ya like it or not.

His biggest fault was being stupid. It doesn't mean that he is mean-spirited.

TAKEN FROM WIKIPEDIA RE: KOBE BRYANT
He has since resumed endorsement deals with The Coca-Cola Company, through their subsidiary Energy Brands to promote their Vitamin Water brand of drinks.[152] Bryant was also the cover athlete for NBA '07: Featuring the Life Vol. 2 and appeared in a commercial for the video game Guitar Hero World Tour with Tony Hawk, Michael Phelps, and Alex Rodriguez in 2008. Nike held onto Bryant and eventually did start promoting Bryant once his image was back up 2 years later.[151]

In 2008 Bryant completed a pair of viral videos showing him doing dangerous stunts to promote Nike's Hyper Dunk shoes. The first showed Bryant jumping over a speeding Aston Martin and the second one showed Bryant with the crew of ******* jumping over a pool of snakes. Both videos received over 4.5 million views each on YouTube. Bryant later hinted that the stunts were fake, as actually doing them would violate his contract with the Lakers by participating in dangerous activities. After promoting Nike's Hyperdunk shoes, Bryant came out with the fourth edition of his signature line by Nike, the Zoom Kobe IV. In 2009, Bryant signed a deal with Nubeo to market the "Black Mamba collection", a line of sports/luxary watches that range from $25,000 to $285,000.[153]

On February 9, 2009, Bryant was featured on the cover of ESPN The Magazine. However, it wasn't for anything basketball related, rather it was about Bryant being a big fan of FC Barcelona.[154] CNN estimated Bryant's endorsement deals in 2007 to be worth $16 million a year.[155] In 2009, Kobe was tied with Michael Jordan for second in Forbes' list of the world's highest-paid athletes with $45 million.[156]

My opinion is that if Tiger only competed for prize money then none of this is of other people's concern but he demands large appearance money and sponsorship deals and so earn money from his image not just his performances. That being said it appears clear that his private life was known about by some in the Golf world and golf press and Tiger's influence managed to keep it quiet but this event put the news journolists on him and they had no golfing agenda to consider.

Tiger's indiscretions have been rumored for years and his endorsements have been just fine. To most people in the industry, this is not new information. The question that remains is "will Tiger's fans care?". My guess is Tiger will stay married, keep his nose to the grind stone and this will all be forgotten in due time.

Heck, Phelps got a DUI while underage and still managed to pull down some lucrative endorsement deals.

Do people even remember Lance Armstrong's infidelities?

His endorsements apparently don't.

•Swimming superstar Michael Phelps lost an endorsement deal with Kellogg's after photos surfaced on the Internet of him sucking on a bong at a college party. Other sponsors, including Visa, Speedo and watch company Omega stood by the swimmer, after he came out with a quick apology.
• When Kobe Bryant was accused of raping a woman in a Colorado hotel, he beat the charges but lost millions in endorsements. Bryant had signed a $45 million deal with Nike just before his 2003 arrest, but the sneaker giant benched him for two years until the incident blew over. McDonald's and Nutella dumped the Laker guard altogether. By 2007, Bryant was pulling in $16 million a year in endorsements and this year, the figure climbed to $45 million, according to Forbes.
•Michael Vick made $7 million in endorsements in 2005, ranking him 33rd on Forbes' list of celebrity pitchers. But when he was busted for dogfighting charges, the endorsements disappeared. He's back in the NFL, playing second string for a fraction of his old salary and the only deals he has are public service announcements for the ASPCA.

Are you reading what you're quoting? :confused3

Michael Vick spent time in jail, so that's understandable.

I agree that it is a bit silly to demand a ‘source’ for the statement that Tiger has a reputation for morals and values that advertisers have heretofore loved. What? Is the person expecting a site to Jesus.com? Who would be an acceptable source to cite on morals and values?

I agree that the best ‘source’ has been the advertisers themselves, whom would not have retained Tiger to advertise their products if he did not have an excellent public reputation.

Dating from his youth Tiger Wood has built a reputation for being very much a family-orientated person, with a very close relationship with his father. The press created very sympathetic coverage of Tiger’s grief when Earl Woods died. Tiger has been very active in charitable organizations.

We have had other excellent athletes over the years that never had much in the way of endorsements, because the public perceived them as being ‘crummy’ on a personal level.

As to whether Tiger will keep his endorsements, I believe he will. For one, he has not committed a crime, and the public tends to be forgiving of those whom admit their ‘personal failings’.

Secondly, some will probably excuse any transgressions by explaining that when Earl died Tiger lost his ‘moral compass’ and will applaud his efforts to properly get his moral bearings back (I’m afraid that before all is said and done his wife will be made the villain; such is life in the public eye; I have no doubt she will be amply compensated for taking on such a role).
