Tiffin’s had been on my maybe list, then off my list, then on my for sure list, and I am so glad we tried it. If your iffy, don’t be! We had the best lunch there today (pics to come when we get home).
It’s a beautiful restaurant and a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of AK.
DH had 2 amber ales and I tried Jenn’s Tattoo, Ketel One Vodka, Watermelon, Hibiscus, Lime Juice. It was a little sweet for my liking but delicious nonetheless less. I also had a Snow Leopard Salvation, Snow Leopard Vodka, Belle de Brillet Pear Liqueur, Mint, Lime Juice, Ginger Beer. Fabulous!
For an appetizer we shared the Charred Octopus, Romesco Sauce, Olive Tapenade, Chorizo, Squid Ink Aïoli. This was amazing! Like so so good.
We also shared the Peaches and Cream, Masumoto Peaches, Burrata Cheese, Heirloom Tomatoes, Peach-Maple Reduction, Salted-Pecan Brittle. I wasn’t sure how it would all work together and it was incredible.
Being that we planned to share an entree we also ordered an enhancement of The Gobi Manchurian, Crispy-fried Cauliflower, Manchurian Sauce, Green Onion. This was my least favorite of the dishes we tried but DH loved it. The cauliflower was prepared perfectly but I didn’t love the sauce. It reminded me a better tasting orange sauce that would go on Chinese orange chicken or beef. Good but I don’t love Chinese food.
We chose the Kamo Ramen entree, Duck Confit, Soft-poached Egg, Spiced Coconut Broth, Alba Mushrooms, Chili-Lime Cashew. Wow! Not a drop left. The flavors meshed so we’ll together.
And if all that wasn’t enough, we ended with a pressed pot of the Ethiopian blend coffee and Frangelico. For dessert we shared the dessert trio which included small dishes of the following:
Passion Fruit Tapioca Créme, Chocolate Crumble, Citrus Fru; Whipped Cheesecake
Amarula Panna Cotta, Sesame Crumbs, Espresso Sponge; and South American Chocolate Ganache
Caramelized Banana, Cocoa Nib Tuile. DH liked the cheesecake best, it’s deconstructed, and I loved the tapioca creme. The ganache was good but heavier than the other two and we both prefer a lighter tasting dessert.
Our server was Allen who was terrific! Gave us his honest opinion, or what appeared to be, on various menu items. I love a server who doesn’t just push what’s the most expensive.
Anyway, I will post pics but if you’re iffy on Tiffin's, try it. We were pleasantly surprised.
