Tiffany Towncar driver took us for a fool!

Our most recent trip we booked with Tiffany, and overall I was satisfied with thier service; but our driver on the pick-up to the resort was something else! He began as we sat in the car to tell us that he had just confirmed our room in the Martineque section of CBR - which is preferred - from his connections which were so long and complicated I can't remember them. He then went on to talk non-stop about his life; his recent coma from a car accident involving a drunk driver to his finance leaving him at the alter, and his father's death, who just so happened to have owned the restaurant that the Flying Fish bought it's recipes from. Oh yeah, his business card would give us a PS there anytime, just show it to the hostess. He also bragged on how he had personally trained - and he named 5-6 names - that have since gone on to own their own towncar service in Orlando.

Upon arriving at CBR he asked us to wait outside while he ensured our preferred location; he then hustled over, told us the rooms were a go and just two doors from each other, took our money and left. After waiting to check in we found our room to be in a non-preferred location (surprise? nah!) in the Barbados section, and though our rooms were two numbers apart, they were on complete opposite ends of the building!

I must admit my relief to have had a different driver return us to the airport, he was very polite and courteous and QUIET!! :earseek:

The stories towncar drivers tell!

One of the drivers we had talked non-stop about how he was the preferred driver for all and any celebrity who visited the Orlando area. He talked about nearly a dozen famous people, who could not live without him as their driver. The most outrageous story he told as, was that Madonna wouldn't accept any driver but him, for his discretion, of course. ;) As per this guy, Madonna made him drive to Miami on a daily basis to pick up cashmere diapers for her kids! DH and I sat in the backseat, rolling our eyes at each other, as he yammered away! We figured that he thought he would get a better tip from us, due to his high demand with celebrity clients!

I would prefer a non-stop talker to a no-show driver. On our last trip, we were to be taken to airport about fors before our flight. We wanted to meet some friends. When no one showed up, we called Tiffany TownCar asking where our driver was. We talked back and forth the next two hours. Finally, they had to call a taxi service to take us to the airport. We got to MCO with less than 30 minutes to our flight.

I'm sure you already know this, but no information about where you are staying at (room, building, area, or even resort) is EVER given out to any person who cannot provide photo ID to prove that they are staying in that room. (This is why it's important to make sure everyones name is on the reservation... no name, no id, no access.) And secondly of course, no room is ever confirmed until you actually check in.

Good grief. If I had a driver like this I'd be really annoyed/aggravated. I'm paying to be driven somewhere. I couldn't care less who the driver knows, doesn't know, or pretends to know. And as far as his lies about your room location go, that'd really upset me. (Not that he didn't get you the preferred location, but the fact that he was lying to you, trying for a better tip, I'm sure!).

We've used Tiffany Towncar's stretch limo several times and this was never a problem because of the glass between us and the driver. This next trip in July it will be just DH and I so I'm thinking we'll only need a towncar. Now I'm thinking maybe we should stick with a limo in order to avoid this. :scratchin

ohMom, did you call TTC when you got back and complain about this guy?? I would have.

Tyler -- i did know in the back of my mind that he couldn't access our reservation, but the naive trusting person in me is like "really? prove it"

Seaspray -- I haven't complained and thought posting here I'd get a feel for if that is the norm, you know "drivers will be drivers" and just par for the course, or if my annoyance warranted a complaint. It was enough that I would look elsewhere for our next trip

speaking of name dropping - i had forgotten that he said Bill Cosby requests him, yeah right

cashmere diapers!!!

I would call Tiffany and complain, that's just ridiculous for him to be like that! We used FL Tours last fall, and our drives were both really nice, they made some conversation with us, but didn't talk the entire trip and didn't do any of the obnoxious things your driver did!
