Hey,
I started the thread that got closed regarding the 20% "mandatory" tip at Tiffany Town car. I'm very sorry, I was on WEBKINZ (boy, is it crazy) duty the last 2 days and unable to check in here.

What happened was: I called Tiffany Town car and the girl I spoke with told me the rate in a town car for 4 people from MCO to the Radison at the Port and then from the Port to the Poly would be $195- plus a 20% tip

I thought it strange that she would tell me what I was required to tip the guy so I said "20% is that mandatory??"
and she said "yes, 20%"

I posted here because I was trying to find out from all of you if that was true or not.

As I said I didn't have time to check back here and what she said didn't settle right with me so yesterday I called back and spoke with someone else and he quoted me the same rate but DID NOT mention the 20% "mandatory" tip. So I'm not sure what to think.

But a few of you have used Tiffany and were never charged a "mandatory" 20% so at this point I think that the girl I spoke with was incorrect or trying to secure a 20% tip for the driver...who knows.

If anyone was charged a 20% tip please post.

Again I didn't intend to cause a problem. Sorry!!!

I will have to tell you that you got a good rate! Even with the 20% charge you beat what most companies would charge for that run MCO-Port-Poly. The average rate for that run would be about $230.00. You sure you didn't say back to MCO or maybe the girl thought you said MCO? That is the average rate for MCO-Port-MCO.

THanks for stopping back and letting us know the 'rest of the story'!
No, you didn't cause a problem..it was others who got carried away with their own issues. That's why the thread got closed. Hopefully, this one can stick with the subject.

As Edd said, that's a really good deal. And as I said before, the TT website states that with towncars/vans no gratuity is included. I believe it is just for the stretch limo's.

We used Tiffany early last month. There was no mention of a mandatory tip and none was on the CC receipt. In these situations I pay for the ride, or meal or whatever with plastic but give the tip in cash, first so that the person giving the service actually gets the money and second so that Uncle Sam has no record of what the person received. As usual, I tipped $10 each way which works out to 20% for a $95 RT fare, but no one dictated that.

Hey,
I'm glad to hear that it's a good rate! I do think the quote was correct, $105 from MCO to the Port and $90 from the Port to the POLY. I will call them back again just to be sure.

Thanks everyone for all the help!!

you are probably going to find they will charge you about $150.00 for the Port - Poly return leg.
