Have I missed something? Have the tiers changed at HS? I made my FP this morning for my day at this park. After booking TSM, I assumed I could then book TOT but this and almost everything else is listed under the tier one experiences. I know the last time we were there (February this year) I was able to book both and also RnRR. Is it a glitch? Or have things changed?

Yes, things have changed. New tiers go into effect 8/29 at DHS - many rides now classified as Tier 1. Disney doesn’t ever really announce FP system changes but it first came to light 90’ish days ago when the first people were able to book FPs (with the paid CL FP trial program) and discovered the new tiers. But an easy detail to miss for casual park goers.

Well that stinks! Almost every ride in the park is tier one. Guess I am late to the party lol. Oh well I guess we can be in the park at 6am if we care!

Yes, they changed the tiering. It totally sucks now! Almost doesnt seem worth it to get FP at HS now. Just go at rope drop and ride your faves that way.

Yeah, it is not a particularly popular change for sure. It’ll be interesting to see just how things work out with how it spreads crowds around and the impact on same day FP availability.

If you’re eligible for the 6am EMHs and have hoppers, I’d personally hit the park then and save your FPs for another park later that day.

Good luck!

I’m all for it! But then I have to tell my hubby he has to get up at 5am lol. Wondering what the crowds will be like at 7am which is a more doable time for him.

Well, I always say that Ohana means family... and family means nobody gets left behind... except for rope drop and FoP FastPasses. :earboy2:

The FP FAQ is regularly updated with this kind of information.

Basically, they've ensured most people get a bunch of burner FPs. It's so silly. We have a bunch of FPs for shows which we've never had before, just to get the FPs used up so we can go for more Tier 1s. Ridiculous. At the very least, AS2 should be tier 2. That is SO not worth tier 1 status. Don't get me wrong, we'll ride it and enjoy it, but tier 1-worthy...NOPE.

Thanks for this helpful info. I actually checked this thread before I posted and saw nothing.

From Post #8, where current information is noted:
HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS (13 Attractions) Tiering

Tier 1/Group 1 (select no more than one)

A - Slinky Dog Dash
A - Toy Story Midway Mania

Tier 2/Group 2 (select up to three)
A - Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (Single Rider also available) (moves to Tier 1 August 29)
A - Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (moves to Tier 1 August 29)

Other than Star Tours, all the rides are Tier 1. It didn't make getting FPs for HS much fun.
I'm not sure we want to get there at 6 am, but plan to be there early to hopefully ride RnRC and ToT before the park normal hours.

Yeah this definitely messes up our usual plans. My mom doesn't ride RNR or TOT, so for our Jan trip I'm planning on booking Slinky for both of us later in the day, and I'll get up early to rope drop TOT and RNR while she sleeps in. Mom likes that plan :upsidedow

This is exactly what I checked out and that info is not correct. TOT and RnRC are now tier one. Which I is why I posted this question

It is correct. They are not yet Tier 1. Do you not see the parenthetical phrase at the end of each line with TOT or RnRC?

It’s annoying but it shouldn’t be hard to manage. There are about 2 tier 1 FPs available per guest on a day of average attendance. So you’ll be able to get FPs day of.

In fact if all 31,000 guests who visit on an average day used all their advance fast passes as early as they could, they still wouldn’t run out of Tier 1 FPs until like 3PM, because there’s only capacity to redeem ~5000 FPs an hour.

On 9/1, the first day of EEMH, there is still 9AM hour availability for TOT and 3:00 hour availability for AS2, RNR, and TSM.

It’s going to be more annoying but if you work it hard enough (and either have a SDD FP early in the day or skip it altogether) you’ll get 3 tier 1 FPs
