Tiered FP+ for DHS

Sounds like you really don't enjoy WDW much anyway

Well, to be honest, even though I have been going since 1976, have been 40+ times for over 400 days logged, I have been enjoying it less and less over the last decade, mainly the last 5 years. But we have kept going because we did still enjoy it, just not as much. I have had hope that Disney would get back to what Disney was--THAT is what made people fall in love with Disney. When it was a *true* theme park v glorified amusement park. You may be right **now.**. I feel this may just be the straw that broke the camels back.

Don't we all love Disney because of the total experience and not just FP? The new system is still in the TESTING phase and yes this tier thing does not seem to be optimal but I really think Disney is trying to better control crowd flow and are just trying out different methods to see what works best. Maybe we should all wait until everything is said & done to see what will actually shake out. If Disney is still going to allow non resort guest the option of FP that means the old system will have too remain in place in some form so who's to say it wont turn out that you can only reserve one good one in advance but you can still get FP to these rides on the ground day of your visit?!
True that we don't know everything yet. I think that most who are canceling have decided to wait until everything is in place which makes sense IMO. We can't cancel so I'm determined to enjoy whatever happens as much as I dislike the uncertainly.

I understand both sides. My family has been going to WDW for decades. Even though I am 90 minutes from DL, I prefer WDW! We still go to DL, but it is for a couple of days or a quick one day trip.
We are going soon and are excited because it will probably be our last trip for a while. However, I do have concerns about the MBs. If they work, I am not worried, but if the don't it will be a royal pain. I say this because this trip is for my mom who has stage 4 cancer and I will be pushing her in a wheelchair. Going back and forth to keep getting things fixed will be rough, but if all goes well, I kind of like the MBs.
I, like others, am not thrilled at three FP+ for the day, but it will work for this trip. We know how to use FPs and tend to never wait in long lines because we plan.
However, I do like the FP+ because we scheduled ours for the late afternoon one day so we can sleep in and still do TSM. I love this!

My 13 year old son went to Six Flags recently and commented how every line was so long and he missed Disney. He said the waits are really long for most of the rides.

My empathy to all the DVC owners that are locked into this devalued experience for years to come.

What is more weird is for a place tht rt2dz totally criticizes, they talk of spending 12k. For that money if the rides are all you want go to Six Flags and pocket 10K.

I don't have thrill ride kids, so I'll skip 6 flags, thank you. But, that IS exactly what I'm saying. I'm thinking I'll spend my money elsewhere.

I'm sorry for all the people wearing their rose-colored Mickey glasses that think Disney is soooo magical that it can do no wrong. I live here in reality though. It's a fact that prices have tripled in the past 12 years. It's a fact that Disney has closed many of their attractions, including shutting down shows. It's a fact that the restaurants have gone from varied menus to more standardized fair. It's a fact that all the original, unique merchandise have become standardized also (remember resort mugs?). It is opinion that the quality of said merchandise has gone wayyyy downhill in quality, but hardly a disputed one. If you think that is all great, fine. Personally, I care! Not just about my money, but about our experience. You bet I want to actually make sure everyone gets on their favorite ride ONCE, maybe twice. I'm spending $3,891.54 on tickets alone. I don't think that is unreasonable to have expectations to do more than "shop." I remember the days of spending hours in lines to ride once. It's not fun, and it's exhausting. I'm glad you enjoy it, but I don't.

Good post again stairstepmom :thumbsup2

I definitely don't get the whole, "How do you know until you try it?" argument....I think most people on here are intelligent enough to visualize what it is going to be like under the new system versus the old one. And it's just WDW, not rocket science.

Side note...I like the concept of FP+, I do. Because I hate having to run to rope drop. The tiers are what is going to ruin it for me. Everyone has their breaking point. My next breaking point, and final breaking point, will be if they move the full payment due date to before making your FP picks.

It's easy for me to say "Eh, it's not that big of a deal" because, hey...I live in Florida, only 3 hours away from WDW, and it's a hell of a lot easier for me to get there more often than others. But I definitely sympathize with those that are spending thousands and thousands of dollars on something they're less than thrilled with. If people want to cancel, or postpone, that's their choice. I don't necessarily agree with everything being said but that doesn't mean I don't understand. It's not MY vacation, it's theirs, and they should spend (or not spend) their money how they see fit. :goodvibes

Stairstepmom, you have a wonderful way with words.

Many complaining about some of us "complaining" have often stated that this is all speculation, on our part.

Well, it seems to have moved beyond speculation- the 2nd Park is tiered and POP is migrating to MB only, so it is only safe to assume the other Resorts will follow quickly.

These speculations are now hard facts that many of us have to contend with in our near-term or future plans. I think it is still very beneficial to continue these discussions- especially since I've seen posters on other threads discussing changing or getting ready to change POP reservations to another Resort for the December timeframe.

That's concerning, with the lack of lead time Disney has given on these milestones. It would be very unfortunate to change and still be caught with the same issue. In cases like this, it's important that the scenarios are discussed (and speculated on), so folks at least know all of the parameters that should go into their decisions..

My family has been to Disney over 300 individual days over the years and this Christmas we are going on a split stay Cars Family Suites at Art of Animation and Yacht Club December 20th - January 2nd. stairstepmom, I just want to be your friend! Reasonable and able to express yourself well.

You read my post but completely discounted it. If you DON'T like the way we are discussing our concerns then skip the thread. We don't need to justify why we're posting our concerns to anyone and it's nice that some people get why we're concerned and THOSE people we want to talk to. If you're not one of them and are not contributing anything but "STOP COMPLAINING!!!!", well, now, that's really not very helpful in our eyes. So what I'm saying is to save a lot of trouble and hurt feelings and possibly more anxiety, just let us post our concerns amongst ourselves. Ok? ok. :goodvibes

Maybe we should do a little less complaining about people complaining about your complaining... :rotfl:

Or perhaps there should be a dedicated thread for ppl to complain about ppl who are complaining...

And then a thread for ppl to complain about such ppl who are complaining about ppl who are complaining...

The bottom line is, nobody cares that you don't like FP+ and are cancelling your vacation that you've spent all year thinking about a week before you go. That affects nobody except for you and your disappointed children, who surely would have loved to go and don't care about FP+ one way or the other.

What are you even talking about?
Well, if you look at the post I quoted, you'd see.

I was quoted saying that Tables in Wonderland was blacked out Thanksgiving week when we gave a trip planned. That person stated only Thanksgiving Day was blacked out. So, I pointed out that the week was blacked out for my vacation and not just the day.

I apologize for the profanity. All Im saying is people should stop worrying so much over something they have no control over. I cant stand the people who sit here and say how much they put into their trips and how there's lines at the theme parks. Please show me a theme park that doesn't have lines?

For someone who dislikes complaining, you seem to do a lot of it yourself.

Instead of worrying about what other people are posting in the threads about all the changes, why not be more selective in which threads you read? Maybe focus on trip reports, you can learn lots and there's very little of the complaining you claim to abhor.

Obviously, some of us DO care and we are talking between ourselves about how much we care and how we can plan to make things work or not. If you don't like the subject, why are you even on a post that is discussing it?

And kudos, fuzzylogicllc, for the humor. :thumbsup2

Well up until recently- the answer to that would have been Disney World.

I haven't stood in a long line at Disney since I first rode Soarin' in 2005 (I think I waited 60 minutes).

I've probably been to Disney 30+ times since then (living locally had its perks), and I've haven't stood in line more than 20 minutes since that last Soarin' marathon wait.

So yeah, for me, and for many of us, Disney World was a theme park WITHOUT lines.

That's kinda the whole point here.

Nonsense. Many of us care what others think about FP+, which is why we're reading the thread.

Why *you're* reading when you don't care is a whole other story...

I didn't mean people on the board don't care. I meant Disney. They aren't going to cancel their billion dollar project because some people won't come back. Plenty of new people will come and think it's great.
