Way to go! Awesome! :yay: Guess what? I was in your area today, I told DH, hey I have a friend here, she's from the DIS.

DH had to look at some house to make a bid about some work, I don't know, something like that (remodeling) it was so early for me to think :rolleyes1 :rotfl: just hopped in the car.

Yep! No difference, more bulk indeed, but more work i guess LOL! I'll let ya'll know.

I think you'll need bigger rubber bands!! :scared1:

also, when we went in Jan '08 it was so nice, warm, sunny - but I hear that changes - hourly sometimes!! :rotfl2:

Well we un-banded the shirts, dh and dd are really disappointed :confused3 They want to try it again!!:yay: I think they all turned out fine!! (dont tell dd, but her shirt got "blue-er" because I finished the bottle on her shirt - thinking she didnt get it in the folds or on the sleeves :sad2: that was SO wrong of me! :guilty:)

I'll upload pics this afternoon - but I have to do more - need more practice!! DH doesnt like that the MM heads are defined (I bought the chlorox bleach pen!!) he wanted to leave the dental floss in!! :rotfl2: I will say looking at the pictures - you can not tell there was floss/string in our MM :confused3)

I tried some this weekend. I cannot post pics because I have been a lurker and didn't even get a membership until recently but the mouse heads weren't so bad but they are way too WHITE......I was worried about too much dye....any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you so much in advance....:flower3::flower3::flower3:

PixieDust32 I look forward to seeing your hoodies....I was looking around the other day as we will be there in Dec/Jan. And, I am sure you have answered this before but do you order your dyes from Dharma or do you just use craft store dye? If you order the powders from Dharma how long do they last etc?

:hippie:

Thank you again!!!!:cheer2::cheer2:

I had to try this twice. The second set came out much better. First time I didn't wring out the excess water after soaking them in soda ash. My dye was messed up from that. And once I unbanded them I hung them up to dry. Okay so all my dye ran to the bottom of the shirt. The second time I followed the directions on the DVD in the kit. Way better results. Now I just need to be able to get less white. For now I am collecting supplies from Michaels whenever I get a 50% off coupon. I'll be ready for the next trip!!

:welcome:
Just post up to ten times - even if each of the next 6 posts are a smilie!! :thumbsup2

Posting pictures is a lot easier thanks to photobucket! After you upload your pictures to your computer - go to photobucket.com (regester) Then follow their easy "upload" (I still just upload one picture at a time but photobucket does it all)

then after your picture is on photobucket - scroll down to the code option!
and copy that link - then come over here and paste that link!!

Tink mine are way too dark!! I'm waiting for them to dry!

Hi girls!

I do get my dyes from dharma. Oh Sandy, we won't tell your DD :)

Thank you ladies....

Also, PixieDust.....how much powder do you order and how long does it last...is the 2 oz size enough to do 9 shirts???

That happened to me too, the excess water after soaking ;)

Yes, the 2oz is eoungh, all depends on how much your use it. Some dyes need more dye per once ounce of water, you'll need at least the primary colors.

No mickey ears on these shirts, DD wanted 2 shirts for her and her BFF for school's 'twin' day, it was a last minute request :headache: go figure, her friend wanted more color on hers, and DD more white.

I like the Twin Day idea! :thumbsup2 Of course the shirts are brilliant!! :worship:

For the Tulip Brand Dye found at Micahel's JoAnn's, etc I followed Pixie's Direction and used warm, not hot, not cold water... I had 5 colors - and we ran out of blue first (DD wanted all blue)

I also think there is too much white - but now I understand better when we did the cinnamon bun, where the arms were, and how that part needed a different technique (see DD shirt arm ALL blue!) So of the 5 containers we had (that came in the kit) we had very little left over (mostly the lime green one!) No blue, red, or yellow was left. I did 4 shirts.

DD Mickey Head I'm going to trace the template with the Tide to go pen - (with something underneath it ;) )

After I finished soaking in the soda ash - wring out the shirt very well - then lay the shirt on top of a towel - fold the edges on the shirt then ROLL the towel with the wet shirt in it - then squeeze that towel mass of shirt -

you will get out the excess water -

After you finish dyeing the shirts - then let them set 24 hours - then rinse them a great deal - then rinse them in HOT water - then take 1/2 cup of table salt in the bucket of water and rinse a shirt at a time -

then repeat the towel roll to get out the excess water -

I found when I tried the salt method - it stopped the bleeding of the dye!! :cool1:

(Google was my friend! I'd post the link I found the directions, but I cant find them now!! I used dh's mac so I cant pull it up here!! One of the sites had instructions on the spiral too - in a vid clip)

Awesome girls! Yes, I also add salt sometimes, I learned that when I was in school and we used to dye clothes for proyects.

You did good Sandy, and you can trace your ears with the bleach pen ;)

the bleach pen was a fiasco - I got blotches! :sad2:

(glad all the passengers and crew are safe!)

I know, thank god.

Oh man! That's the risk of the bleach pen, you have to be very careful, is like working on a paint :D you need steady hand. I need to outline some shirts also :O I tied my rubber bands as hard as I can and some shirts no need the outline as much, however some people like to have the outline regardless.
