These were my first attempt. By no means as goods as Pixie's, but better than I anticipated! Can't wait to wear them in 9 days!:cool1:

NICE! They look awesome, way to go. For being your first tees you did terrific. Thanks for sharing. Your ears are awesome.

ok people - I need the refresher course!! :goodvibes

- the string to baste the MM - what are you using?

- the colors are AWESOME - no white spaces - no blobs - when I made my "cinnamon bun" the sleeves were "out" the last with no bands - so they were a single color in blue esp -

- give me a refresher on the rubber banding of the cinnamon roll - and how and where you put the dye??
:worship:

Looking forward to our next attempt!!

Told dd about the "twin" shirts - her face lit up!! thanks for that idea! :rotfl2:

I just want them our next shirts to look and be better!

Hi Sandy, well you have to tuck the fabric really good, it takes a couple of minutes to do it just right, it needs to be tight and tuck in. Let me see if I can find a picture.

I know, my DD came home and told me that lots of girls asked her about her shirt, she was so proud of her mommy :)

I'll try photobucket again later, for some reason I can't upload them there :(

How do you avoid all the white in the shirt? I found a Mickey Head plate at Walgreens so I have a perfect template for the ears. Now I just need color!

I over soaked some of the MM - and I made sure I got dye under that Mickey head too -

Thank you for the extra pictures - when banding that shirt - the first band bends the "bun" so that was a good picture - the tucking and folding makes sense - paired with the picture...

also I know I have to put the dye in and out of those folds -

It will be a few weeks before I can try again!!

- I used glide floss to baste & then pulled REALLY tight to gather. Also, per Pixie, I used about 4 rubberbands, really tight, just below the tightened floss.
I'm thrilled that the Mickey heads came out as well as they did. As I was basting, I was thinking to myself "There is no way this is going to work!"

- I put dye in every fold to avoid white spots. Next time I would like to make smaller pie slices though - so each section of dye is smaller. Perhaps repeating some colors?

Now I just need to know how Pixie gets such PERFECT spirals! Especially on the back?

Ok got a kit, a couple of shirts and dental floss and a needle. I cannot find a mickey head that I like to use as a template - can anyone PM me who has one? I have one on 8.5x11 paper but it looks small against the men's xl shirt.

Also, I got two shirts for me but both have small pockets - if I put the mickey under them (the pocket is high) will it dye ok? They didn't have much in my size in white that fit right.

Thanks!

I just e-maliled someone a template I don't know if it was you, that's the only one I have in my computer since it crash a week ago.
The pocket will dyed ok, but if it has thread that would show because is polyester.

I am going to try again this weekend. Then hopefully I will post some pretty ones along with my uninspiring 1st ones.

Does anyone know where I can get a metallic color tie dye? Looking for gold and or silver for my 15 yo ds.

Ya'll are doing AWESOME!!!!!!!

the template! :sad2:

dh is a computer "geek", nerd, whatever - and I free handed a Mickey head (using household items with circles) DH was mortified! He got out his compass, and protractor and mathmatically done did a ""perfect" MM head...

"um, dh, the ears are TOO FAR apart" :rotfl2: I was able to whip out the Lime Green Home Depot Mickey head - and google it here to show how much closer!! :rotfl2:

I now have a better MM template! :rotfl2: (which is pretty darn close to the one I did using a small plate and 2 bottle bottoms!!)

My DH made one too from the one I had in my computer and is the one i use now.
Let me see if I can find one on the web.

I'd never use the gold and silver colors, I have seen pens but not sure if those work the same.

I used a cd and a mini camcorder dvd:lmao: for my template. I haven't tried dying yet though...

Pixie, have you ever used an already colored shirt? I think I am going to try using a light pink (100% cotton tank) that I already have and use brown dye. I have gone to 3 stores and can't find pink in stock (unless it's fushia in a kit). I think I'm going to try it out. whadya think?
