Oh no!! I would take it back and ask for a refund or exchange!!
Has anyone tried doing a regular tie dye shirt (no sewing of a mickey head), and then bleaching out the outline of the mickey head? I've got a short period of time to try to do all our t-shirts for our upcoming trip while my girls are at camp, and was thinking for the tie dyes I was hoping to make, maybe I could cut that corner. I know it wouldn't have the contrasting color of the mickey head, but I was just wondering whether that might be something that could work.
Any thoughts? TIA!
I'm just quoting it so people can see it.
GoofyWalker, did you use the bleach pen when the shirt was still wet after dyeing?
By the way, I love the way it turned out!
I have bleached black before and then put dye on it! Here is my test shirt of that- since I was just playing I didnt bother to line up my symbols properly- but I wish I had bc it came out cute!I've used resist to make swirly Mickey heads before tie dying and they come out great -- and are really fast.
I've been toying with the bleach pen idea as well on a solid color (green DIS color) shirt. I may try it tomorrow on a test piece of fabric (or on a sleeve of the actual shirt). I'll let you know what happens.
I usually buy mine at Michaels, but Walmart carries iron on ones now, which would be easier to wash- I think they are around $5Okay, so far I am pretty happy with my shirt, but DD is not happy with her's. I did the spiral technique and she was doing the circles. I think her issue came from me not banding it tight enough (bad mommy). Right now they are taking a tumble in the dryer, so when they are all finished I will snap some pictures. I made her content enough by telling her we might "bling" hers up by adding the jews around the outside of her Mickey head. Any suggestion on the brand of gems to use?

The shirt might get heavy if you add too many jews to it.
But seriously, I use the ones from Michaels, too, and then use a fabric glue that does really well over time and after many washes.

I feel the need to share...after reading these pages over and over and over---my shirts are now dyed and sitting in plastic bags for 24 hours! I still had dye and I decided to do another shirt (non-Mickey head) but forgot I'd taken off my gloves---so now I have a blue hand. Oops!I'm really nervous about how they will turn out. My kit (Jacquard) had three colors--blue, yellow and red and I decided to try mixing since I had 2 kits. The purple and green turned out great--but I couldn't get an orange that I thought looked good. So I feel like I ended up with a real mishmash of colors on my shirts. Plus I'm afraid that way inside the "cinnamon bun" there may be a lot of white that didn't get color on it. Guess I'll have to see what happens in 24 hours! Thanks for listening--my DH thinks I'm crazy.
We leave for WDW in 6 days--and somehow my kids still don't know!
