Tie Dye Instructions for Spiral Mickey Shirt

Bought DD and me some shirts and supplies to make these... hopefully they turn out but if not I have lots of time to practice before vacation! :rotfl2:

Well, I did two batches and I think they turned out OK.. the first batch actually turned out better than the 2nd! I did all purple second for my sister (pancreatic cancer colors) and the mickey heads are a little blurred.. The only thing different I did was on the 1st batch I tied some white yarn around the rubberbands of the mickey head, maybe that was it but all in all I am very pleased! Every one thinks they are great but of course, they haven't seen all the shirts on this site!!

Thanks again for all the help! I am definitely making more!
Hope the link works.. I don't think I can post pictures yet driectly to this site.. If I can, could someone tell me how????

The easiest way to post pictures from photobucket is to copy the last link in the drop box, the IMG one, and directly paste it to your post. That link can be used on most forums. Super easy.
And yes, you can post pictures. I think the minimum number of posts is like 10 or 12 here and then you can.

Here are my shirts, thanks for the instructions on posting them! alot nicer than going to a link!! I can't wait till Saturday .. We will be there!! Yea!:yay:

I used the Dharma dyes. Fuscia, turquoise and grape (purple). I was pretty excited they came out so good!

I'm going to upgrade to the Dharma dye for my next personal batch. Did you follow all the steps, including the dye catching chemical for washing after the dye process? Thanks.

This shirt took forever but I  it so much! Pic # 2 looks a lil weird, just the way it's hanging. My center "hidden" Mickey didn't come through so I'll use a sharpie on it once the shirt dries.

Can anyone tell me where you find the clorox pens that are not "gel"? I need to define my Mickey heads, but I can't find any except the gel kind. I have checked Walmart, target, cvs and 2 local grocery stores. Do they even make them anymore? Last time I used the gel pen and it spread out too much.

Thanks!

I've asked this over and over and no one has let me in on the secret to find them....so I have given up. I did buy a paint pen and will try that next time I make them.

I follow this thread from time to time...what is wrong with using the gel bleach pens? I used them on my last shirts and they were fine. It was not a thing line, but I was able to outline the Mickey head. For me, I found I had to use Colorox. The Dollar Tree pens did nothing.

The gel pens spread...and for me I want a fine line. The gel pens I used (which were clorox) made very thick lines and I couldn't control it at all. it really bled in and parts made the shape weird

Nope! I think the sheets are for regular clothes, not for saturated dye in the water, they wont make any difference. I think.
