These things are great. However, I guess the makers of Tide did not think so, so they discontiued them.

I think Purex is the only brand that makes tablets.

These products are great for DVC members and cruisers needing to do laundry while on vacation. It is also a very useful tool when training kids and DH's to learn to do laundry. They are very convenient, non-messy and exact to laundry specifications.

Can anyone confirm why they were discontinued?

Thanks,

L

I wish I knew! They were great for taking on vacation - don't have to worry about spilling a liquid or measuring powder. I haven't been able to find tablets from ANY company. Our stores don't even carry the Purex tablets.

I was looking for any brand of Laundry tablet. On the Tide website they still have the tablets listed, so I have emailed them asking whats up, still havn't heard back.

Wisk used to make the tablets, I'll have to check to see if they still do. I like those things. No mess at all. However, I kinda like the new Tide liquid with Downy in it too.

I checked the Tide website and on their discussion boards, many posts related to this product.

I'm buying the Purex until I can get an answer from Tide or anyone else.

I wonder why the Tide people didn't think it was a hit?

I was a Wisk tablet fan and I am so sorry that they have disappeared - I have even tried eBay to find some - reminds me of Elaine's sponges on Seinfeld - they were a great idea but like so many others- went down to defeat as there were so many copycats to split the demand - I wish one manufacturer would go back to it and corner the market.

I saw the TIde with Downey advertised last night! WHat a great idea~~ I hope we get it here in BFE...... I will look today when I go to the 'big' city.

Brown Eyes, did you like the Tide with Downey?

There's been a discussion of Tide tablets on the cruise board, and our Odd Lots has them. Some people say that they don't disolve very well, and so you have a glob of white stuff at the end of the cycle. It could depend on the hardness of the water.

True-break them up with your hand when you put them in
the washer. They are great to travel with though!

I've only had them clump once. I always wash in cold water and never had an issue with them. However, I do tend to break them as I enter them into the washer.

Purex is the only maker to-date that I know of and they sell them in the New England area in the Shaw's and Star Markets. Haven't tried Wal-Mart or Target Stores.

Let's keep buying them, so they don't disappear!

I buy the Purex tablets for my college son to use at school...... they are perfect for him so he doesn't have to cart a bottle of liquid to the laundry room. They are getting harder to find. Guess I'd better stock up the next time I see them. They are very easy to crumble which is what I told him to when he puts them into the machine.

Found that Purex sells in my area...check out this Store Locator Link and see where you can find them in your area.

Hope this helps! I want to buy some for my DD to take to college with her.

I found a display of Tide tablets last time I was in Costco, about 2 weeks ago! I was very surprised.

I didn't buy any because I still have half a box from my last tablet purchase 2 years ago (I only use them on vacation).

Thanks for your message, Heidi.

I wish I had better news, but we discontinued Tide Rapid Action Tabs due to low consumer demand. Like you, we're sad too few people wanted the Tide Tabs for stores to readily stock them on their shelves. I have a son in college and I know how convenient this product was for him. I'm sharing your interest in Tide Tablets with the rest of the Tide Team. Perhaps we'll reintroduce them in the future, but at this time, all our inventory has been depleted.

In the meantime, to help keep your clothes looking their brightest, you might want to try Tide Powder. And for those really tough stains, check out Tide Powder with Bleach. It contains a color-safe bleach that removes stains without the damaging effects of chlorine bleach. To learn more about our powder versions, visit: http://tide.com/products/tide.jhtml?productId=97

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for sharing your response, Pooh.

Too bad. I LOVED those tablets for traveling also.

I found the Purex tabs at Shaws/Star Market today while doing my shopping. Bought two boxes..one regular and one scented. I'll give one to DD for college and keep the other for myself for travel. After I took my two, there were only 2 boxes left on the shelf...now that says something.....Tide and Wisk are you listening!!! I've never used Purex.....anyone with any comments on it instead of Tide or Wisk??

I never used Purex either, but because they are the only tablets in my store (Shaws/Star), I now only buy Purex. With a time challanged husband and an 8 year old, they come in handy when distributed the chores.

They were and still are a fabulous idea. Too bad it did not work well in mass markets.

I've used the Purex tabs during several vacations now. They work great, dissolve fast and get the clothes clean and fresh smelling.

I also started stocking up since Shaw's is the only store near me that still carries them. On the Purex website the tabs didn't appear on the product list so maybe they will be discontinued soon also. I hope not.
