Tickets Have Arrived!!!!!!!

Whoah!! What a busy morning. The dorr bell hasn't stopped ringing. The Disneyland Resort, Universal Hollywood and SeaWorld tickets have all arrived!!! I'm sooooo excited!! And all this over tickets... Lord knows what I'm going to be like the nearer we get to going.

It sure did brighten my day!! Can't believe they got here so quick. Not even two full working days since we ordered them.

Yep, we got them off all the parks websites. Depending on what you want to do (I think I remember you saying you'd only want to go to Universal once?) if you get in quick you can get an AP for Universal for just £44!!!!! For a Universal Studios lover like me that's a dream!! Usual price is $99. There's not THAT much to do there ride-wise but I love it just as much as Disney really. And for £44 you can't go wrong really.

We booked the helicopter tour last Thursday too and the woman we spoke to was like OK so it'll be charged in June. When we told her we wanted to pay now and have everything booked and paid for she was just like "Why?!"

And with SeaWorld we were going to get the deluxe 2 day admission but decided against it as we didn't have the best experience there in 2004 - waited in line for food for over an hour (no joke!!!!! - the line virtually went around the park) and a half and got DRENCHED!!!!!! on Shipwreck Rapids - you go under a waterfall and it doesn't stop!!! - so went for the normal 1 day admission but with the skyride and skytower included. If you book online you get them for the same price as a normal 1 day admission.

I hear ya!!! We also got totally soaked. I fully expected the waterfall to stop right before you go under it, (like GRRun) but it didn't!! Plus people are on the side shooting water at you. It was actually horrible. I don't mind getting wet at GRR and Splash, but getting drenched, not fun. It made hubby totally miserable for the rest of the day. So beware!!!
SeaWorld was also our most expensive meal of our trip. Over $60 for basic, not tasty food.

I LOVE City Walk!! There's just sooo much to do. Not as good as Orlando's but not far off. And I haven't spent a birthday at home since for a good few years now. I wouldn't want to celebrate it any other way. It makes the day so much more special!! And have to say I'm a bit partial to Saddle Ranch Chop House myself. The atmosphere is fantastic!!

I read about your day at SeaWorld in your trip report a while ago. I was so glad to hear someone with the same views on the place as me. Didn't know if it was just me. I posted about my experience there too. I have a lot to say about SeaWorld San Diego and not much is good. But I love the animals so we have to visit. The seals were posing (as usual) when I was snapping them. And the dolphins... Lol.

Now, I like water rides but Shipwreck Rapids is just a step too far in my book. I didn't see anyone get off that ride looking glad that they went on it. And it was the worst journey back to Anaheim ever. The car seat was soaked. Not pleasant at all.

And the food? You went to the grill place right? We just went to the diner place and it still cost a bomb and half of my food I threw away because it tasted horrible and flies were everywhere which was very unappetising. DEFINITELY going to make sure we eat good before we go to SeaWorld this year. And hopefully the queues won't be too bad by dinner time.

During our SeaWorld day we also got stuck on the Journey to Atlantis ride!!!
We were in the tunnel/elevator part, and we got stuck there for about 7-8 minutes. DS7 was freaking out!!!!
(he said he doesn't trust SeaWorld rides and never wants to go back! )

we're not going to Seaworld, we went there in 2002 and it just didn't do it for us,we did enjoy seeing the show with the cats and dogs in it (can't remember what it was called).
Went to Seaworld last year in Orlando and again it didn't do it for us, only had about 3 hours there, watched the pet show again and loved the 4th July fireworks, but we won't be going again this year to san Diego.
Universal is a must and we love City Walk as well, we spend a fortune when we are there.

Love the chili at Hard Rock and all the goodies t/o. I love the stuff from the decade of Rock(60's). A great place to watch people. We have never had a bad time at Seaworld, gave us a break.
Did my birthday at DLR last year and it was the worst day..just about everything that could go wrong did...that's life.

If it weren't for the animals then I wouldn't go to SeaWorld (not San Diego at least - think I'd still go Orlando) again either. But I do it for the animals. And Journey to Atlantis and Wild Arctic are a nice treat too. Oh and the skytower. The views are just incredible. Prefer Orlando's though... you can see Epcot!!!

The show you were talkign about is 'Pets Rule!'. I thought it was OK but 'Dolphin Discovery' and the Shamu shows are my favs!! You can't beat 'em.

And I hear ya when it comes to spending at CityWalk. It just happens.

Sorry to hear your DLR Birthday wasn't a good experience. I've always had the best Birthdays at Disney!! One Universal one too which was fantastic!!! Gives you an excuse to go back for another Birthday trip though... just to ensure it is possible.

The good times definately overrule the bad and back we go again. I have more fun .sometimes just watching the people and kicking back. How is the weather where you live in the UK. Love the country and definately the people. When I am working in Iraq, I go there twice a year to gat away. Time to go run.

I know what you mean about just sitting back and watching. There's some great restaurants on the upper levels of CityWalk. Sitting up there and just watching everything (there's that huge open area where they play movies - do they still do that? They were great!! Watching 'Grease' with hundreds of other people singing and dancing along was great!) whilst having a long lunch (or long 5 minutes - lol) is great. Really relaxing. And I love the country in general (plan on moving there one day) so I enjoy doing not so holiday-ish things too. If that makes sense.

Well, I'm from South London so our temperatures are normally the highest when we get our heat - London in general. Which I am not happy with. Because they are not even nice. They are just unbelievably sticky and not nice at all. Not nice heat like you guys have. Past week it's been from 5°C up to 10°C or so. Around Christmas it was below freezing though. And it was pouring with rain this morning. What parts of the UK have you visited?

And good luck with everything you do. You guys rock and don't get anywhere near enough recognition for what you do!!!!

I have tickets to go to Sea World and also universal studios. I just have a one day pass for myself and granddaughter. She is 6 she wanted a trip to Disneyland for her 6th birthday. WE are going in April what do we need to see in Sea world and also Univesal studios should I get better passes or is this good not sure I have never been there before

I'd say one day for SeaWorld is adequate. Try and get there for opening though to make the most of your day. There's a few shows that I should imagine a 6yo would absolutely love. Depending on their character they may or may not like the skytower and skyride. They can be quite daunting for little kids sometimes. There's a few rides - Journey to Atlantis (boat ride which is coaster like too - very cool ride), Shipwreck Rapids (which I DO NOT advise as you get SOAKED going under a waterfall which DOESN'T STOP!!! ) and Wild Arctic which is kinda turbulant but cool nonetheless. Overall it's a good park but it can all be seen in one day.

Same with Universal really. I mean you can see it all in one day but I personally love the place so go there a good few times (like 5 - lol) for a 21 night vacation. But this time we'll have AP's so I plan on going at least 7 times - split the days with sightseeing days, etc.
So depending on whether you like Universal or not really depends on whether you'd need more than one day. Again, you can see all it has to offer in one day (get there at opening and head straight for the lower lot and get the big rides - Jurassic Park River Adventure and Revenge of The Mummy - out of the way early in the day 'coz by lunchtime it'll be swarming down there) but being a movie fan I love the Studio Tour so I go on that like 2-3 times each visit. Make the most of it while I'm there I say. And depending on which tour guide you get, each tour is different.

I agree with Simba one about most of the suggestions. I am not quite sure what a 6 y.o. would get out of US. There are many things to do. The Mummy ride is pretty benign along with JP maybe a bit scary...but they are fun. I love the Terminator and many other parts. You sometimes have to be fan of the old horror flicks. The tram tour to is excellent, gives you a perspective of what goes on on a movie set. I would do the tour first then head down to the lower level while the day is still young. August was real busy and I did the Front of the line pass. Really did not wait for anything.

I would say that most of the actual rides are (well, can be - depends on the person ultimately) quite scary for youngsters. You've got the lower lot rides which are Revenge of The Mummy which is an OK-ish (and I mean ISH!!! Lasts all of about 30 seconds. ) and JPRA which has a big drop and can be scary when the T-Rex comes at you. Then there's Back to the Future on the upper lot which is jerky (I thought Hollywood's was jerkier than Orlando - Orlando's one I love but I only ended up going on Hollywood's a couple of times) and I've heard kids protesting about going on it many a time. Then Terminator which is more of a movie but still good. The actors aren't as good as Orlando either - which is weird 'coz I thought they'd be MUCH better considering it's *sings and does jazz hands* Hollywoooood!! The "superrr!!" actresses I saw just weren't as funny/annoying. And the dry ice can upset kids on that. Shrek 4-D will be absolutely fine. She'll probably love Nickelodens Splash Zone and Water World is great for all ages. A definite no would be Van Helsing: Fortress Dracula though. I've seen grown adults run out of there when it's busy with actors inside. And the Animal Planet Live! show she'd probably like. All of the shows I think she'd be OK with. Except maybe Backdraft because there's fire and the floor drops and all sorts.
