I am new to this and a little confused. I want to book a trip for Jan. 2007. When I call they tell me I can book the room and buy tickets at this years price or book a basic package with deposit and wait... Why would I want to wait for ticket prices to go up? What type of package would be offered that would save me money?? I don't think we want dining unless it was free. That doesn't happen in Jan. Does it? Thank you for any advice.

I have been calling since start of July and they have always said cannot buy tickets yet or the meal plan cause they have not released the packages or prices. They have never said I could go ahead and buy the tickets. I have the basic package booked already with hotel, and I got airfare on my own I wanted to arrive at a certain time very early in the am. I called tuesday and they still has no ideas on the 07 things. She told me mid august. I dunno

The only reason to buy a package, in my opinion, is if you want the dining plan. Otherwise I'd make a room-only resort reservation and hopefully get a discount. Then buy your tickets from Ticketmania or Undercover Tourist before the end of 2006 save a little more money.

When I called today it was the first time that they offered the tickets at the 2006 prices for my 2007 stay. I guess it is because they still don't have the packages out. I just wasn't sure if that was the best way to go or should I wait on a package.

Why would you want a package? I wouldn't buy my tickets through WDW at all, because their ticket prices are higher than through a discounter. A package doesn't offer the flexibility of a room-only reservation. With room-only you can cancel 5 days ahead (or is it 7 now?) without penalty. With a package - you have to pay in full 45 days ahead, which almost requires you to buy trip insurance. As I said before, unless you want the dining plan, there is no reason to buy a package.
