Ok so i'm sure this has been asked different ways and i've done research but wanted to see if anyone could give their two cents to my situation. We are DVC (resale) and Disney Visa. My family is going in October/November for 9 days, looking at 5 day parkhopper passes. if we look to go again within the next year lets say 7 day with another 5 day parkhopper pass. Do AP's make sense? my oldest son is 2 and will be free on trip one but would require either his own AP or just buying the 5 day parkhopper.

From what i've seen on discount pages 5 day parkhopper is around $732/adult. so looking at $1464/person depending on dates obviously.

We stay on property with points and use our visa for other purchases. Would you pull the trigger on AP? is it worth it being so close to the cost of two trips? what are the hotel discounted rates if we went cash stay instead of using points?

Thanks!

I think you need to look at real figures, at least for your Oct/Nov. trip. I'm seeing a 5-day ticket in late Oct 2025 running around $800ish. But what month is your possible second trip could make the difference there; it could be a low as $600 or up to $850. An Incredi-pass costs $1650 (including tax). If your second trip will be at a lower-cost time of year, the AP may not necessarily make sense. Also note that your son's AP will have a different renewal date if bought for the 2nd trip.

I'm thinking March or April for 2nd trip but not sure. We also thought about doing two shorter trips in spring and then fall and that would lean towards AP. I don't think I realized how much the AP's were for anyone 3 and up.

If we decide to purchase AP and don't go until 10/29 would they start from that date or date of purchase?

A new AP (voucher) doesn’t start until you first use it to enter a theme park. You have one year from purchase date to activate (first enter a park) it then the AP expires 12-months from that date. If for some reason you don’t activate within a year from purchase date, it reverts to a credit towards a future AP.

If I buy a three day base ticket/no hopping but decide I want to hop the 3rd day, can I upgrade just that day?

I'll be with two other people for six days. When they leave, I'd like to stay longer. Will I be able to add four more days to my ticket?

Yes, assuming it's a regular 6-day ticket you may upgrade (add days) up to a max of 10 total. This can be done at any time while you are there.

Do you have a package booked? If so, you cannot add days until after check-in. What I suggest is considering dropping the tickets from the package and purchasing tickets separately -- buying the length each person needs. One challenge with waiting to add days after arrival is that you will lose your LL pre-booking window if you might consider purchasing LL for those additional days.

Thank you for the info. I used a bounceback offer to book this trip and I'm fairly certain it had to be a package. When I tried to switch to room only they told me I would lose the 30% off bounceback. We will probably use the LL while the three of us are there but after that, I can just go with the flow. I'm thinking I might not even decide whether or not to stay longer until our last day.

Here is the question: I see a good third-party deal for dated multi-day WDW ticket. I have a tentative date decided, but not 100% sure. I am sure I will go sometime this year. Shall I go ahead and buy it before the deal expires?
Follow-up question: if I end up need to change date,
(1) can I change date for non-direct dated tickets?
(2) if need to pay price difference, would the third-party price be used or the corresponding direct price be used?
The point is, if only the third-party price, then I will wait and buy when I am 100% sure. If the corresponding direct price, then it will be a good deal regardless whether I change date or not.
Thank you in advance!

You should check with the third-party authorized reseller about their policies for changing/cancelling tickets. WDW may make you go back through the reseller to change dates, in which case it's the reseller's policies that will matter. Chances are you'd lose whatever deal you initially had, but keep in mind most of those resellers have almost constant deals. You would definitely pay the difference in price based on dates.

If you upgrade tickets at WDW, the credit should be equal to the price WDW sold the same ticket online on the date you purchased from the reseller. So check that price when you buy so you know that amount.

I'm sure this has been addressed but I tried some search terms and didn't find what I needed.

I will be at WDW for 14 days next January. Can you only buy up to 10 park days at at time? If I wanted another 3 or 4 I'd have to buy another ticket for 3-4 days, right? I wish I could afford an AP but coming from California just doesn't make financial sense more than once every couple of years so an extra $500+ for an AP that wouldn't get used doesn't work for me :(

Yes you would have to buy a separate pass for days over 10. Honestly at that point you might be at minimum even on getting and annual pass because you probably would be able to get a hotel discount and a discount at many table service restaurants as well on any merch. We typically get a nice hotel discount over the best discount offered. You can get the discount with a voucher too if you purchase ahead of time. Something to think about anyway. I have not priced this out for you though but when we purchased our AP it was cheaper than the tickets we planned on for upcoming trips. Of course we then made more trips and spent more money because we got free admission so it probably hurt more than it helped lol

Thank you. I booked my rooms by renting DVC points so unfortunately, that perk won’t apply to me but, I do like food discounts! Thank you for the advice I’ll look into it. I have to wait a little while until they out tickets on sale but I’m a planner!

Yeah it is only 10% for table service in most cases (and none in alcohol) but anything helps. Since you book on points I would just do the math on tickets and see how that works out

Since I have not heart anything I just want to repeat my question one more time.
@lanejudy answered your question above, post #14586. You may be able to upgrade, but it will only apply the price you paid to an AP, so you won't save any money and the pass will start the first day that you used the UK ticket. And as she mentioned, depending on the exchange rate, it may cost you more to upgrade than to just buy the AP to begin with.

I will be arriving ahead of the rest of the family and staying offsite for 2 nights. When the family arrives, we will be checking into AoA. I would love to start visiting the parks the day before the family arrives. Is it possible to add an extra day to my hopper only? Will this affect everyone else’s hoppers? What about our free Day1 visit to the water park?

First are your tickets part of your AoA package stay, that is the key question? If all your tickets are part of a package everyone on the package is required to have the same tickets and other features.
